I agree. Baseball strategy is by far my most knowledgeable topic about current day sports.
-
I can understand why people are becoming tired of football. I was a huge fan years ago. But football has become so boring and slow paced. One play a minute, and even baseball has more action than that.
-
well, baseball is the better sport.

How did he hear that? While it doesn't really surprise me about JR, it still makes much more sense if it was Flair.

That video and after with Triple H was pure gold.

How many people are going to falsely accuse Khali of killing someone?

Wrestling star's son hurt in Florida car wreck, police say (CNN) -- The teenage son of wrestling star Hulk Hogan and a companion were seriously injured in a high-speed car accident in his hometown of Clearwater, Fla., Sunday evening, a police spokesman said. Nick Bollea was the driver of a Toyota Supra that went out of control and slammed into a palm tree while headed out of downtown Clearwater at a "high rate of speed" about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Clearwater police spokesman Wayne Shelor said. "It destroyed the car," he said. Hogan, one of the top professional wrestlers of the 1980s and 1990s, is now featured in the VH1 reality show "Hogan Knows Best." His son, wife and daughter regularly appear on the show. A helicopter took Bollea and his passenger, whose identity was not immediately released, to a hospital in nearby St. Petersburg after paramedics removed them from the wreckage, Shelor said. "They're both down there. Nick's father is down there," he said. (Posted 9:35 p.m.) (thanks to Chris Malito) credit: GERWECK.NET

what's up with the black ring ropes? I thought they were gonna use white for the big 4 ppv's now, since they did for Royal Rumble and WrestleMania... -
don't bother, that canadian guy is a TNA apologist.

Maybe they didn't hype Holyfield showing up because, you know, they wanted it to be a nice surprise? With the smarks nowadays, there is no happy medium. If they hype it, you wonder why they just couldn't make it a surprise as something different. Since they don't hype it, it's why didn't they hype it for ratings? Too much inconsistency with people nowadays.

It's fairly obvious the backstabber spot wasn't a botch, it was a no-sell. And yeah, sometimes wrestlers only need a few seconds to get their wind back. You are being way too picky. And it's Cena. -
guess the tag match never happened?

it was Vince's fault, but Bret was an asshole for not wanting to drop the belt in Canada. Like he thought all of his fans would kill themselves, God forbid he drop the title on Canadian soil.

What was your first Exposure to Wrestling
garfieldsnose replied to edgehead69's topic in General Wrestling
WrestleMania VI. My babysitter's kids loved wrestling and that is how I got into it. As I got older, I started watching older wrestling shows from before I was born. I'm 21 now and have been watching since I was 5. I just fell in love with professional wrestling. -

I thought it was more funny that Burke was mentioning Cor Von as his personal bodyguard at the end, insinuating he hasn't seen him in a while, either. It's gotta be Cor Von he was hinting at, no? -
I doubt James Storm and Homicide visit the TNA folder at TSM so they can laugh at posters.

I agree with Hawk, and unfortunately, I don't think 90% of the "smarks" will ever understand that.

What Would It Take You To Stop Watching WWE Programming
garfieldsnose replied to Nate's topic in The WWE Folder
In response to the topic at hand, I won't ever stop watching wrestling on free TV (not really free, but for all intents and purposes, I'll use it) unless it is taken off free TV. I've been watching since I was 5 or 6, can't remember, and I've been watching ever since. Doesn't matter which promotion it is. Since WWE is obviously the leader of mainstream professional wrestling, I won't stop watching it any time soon. I don't ever feel like my intelligence is insulted because I don't take it as seriously as other people, and I enjoy it for what it's worth. I don't let my knowing of backstage politics get in the way of being entertained, which a lot of people have. -

The new news is that the old news is now obsolete. -
Definitely Mark Curtis because of all of his reactions to the moves. It almost looked like he was playing with an invisible wrestling buddy the way he would mimic the moves the wrestlers did. Earl Hebner was the worst for me. As noted in this thread, all of his near fall counts are not believable at all. He never looks at the shoulders of the guy getting pinned, and stops even if they haven't kicked out. I wouldn't mind it so much if he was LOOKING at the actual shoulders being pinned. Are Doane and Chioda the longest active WWE refs? They've been around since I started watching in 1989 it seems.

WWE General Discussion for July 2007

Someone needs to tell these writers to keep up with which brand wrestlers are on. Yeah, as said above, I don't know what you're really referring to. Carlito, Orton, and Triple H are all on RAW. -
You do realize the format for a WrestleMania, don't you? MITB: Good opener with lots of bumping and getting the fans off to a quick start. The Hardy bump was more or less for Edge to get out of the match because his jaw was still injured and he wasn't in the best of shape to wrestle. That being said, why they even put him in the match I don't know. The Khali/Kane match was your typical WM big man vs. big man match. Casual fans like that kind of stuff just because the dudes are huge. The people I was with (my bro-in-law's coworkers who were fucking annoying as hell) mark out for that kind of stuff. MVP/Benoit was match #1 in their series and the beginning of the storyline to see how MVP will eventually learn how he can beat Benoit. Title change was not needed. UT/Batista, as stated above, was about as good a Batista match as you can get. Also, it's a big man vs. big man match, two faces going head to head for the title. It's going to make the casual fan want to see it, and the nostalgic fan want to see it because the casual fans flock to Batista, whereas the nostalgic fans want to see Taker win. It wasn't a bad match, which was all you could ask for with Batista involved. The right man won. ECW Originals vs. New Breed. I think a POUNCE was going to happen, but they gave RVD the happy pinfall in their first attempt to coax him into signing an extension. I think they switched the original outline of the match just for this. Lashley/Umaga was pretty much the match everyone wanted to see because of the stipulation. The smarks hated it, but the marks loved it. Marks outweigh the smarks. This match was not bad, given the people involved. And it left is with a WM moment. Basic WM outline. Ashley got the Playboy push, but I was surprised she didn't win the title. I think maybe at the last second, WWE realized she had no business being champion, so they let Melina win, and then right after WM Ashley was pretty much demoted. She didn't really improve, but she was making them money. This is what WWE is based on. Money. Not technical wrestling. Cena/HBK was a damn fine main event. Cena sold the knee, but because he didn't sell like Flair or Shawn back in the day, he was criticized. It was probably expected to be better than it was, and even given that, it was still a good match. HBK's job was to make Cena look good and credible and I think he did a good job. Second WM in a row their top man goes over. Sign that WWE wants people to know Cena is their top guy bar none. He makes the most money, wouldn't you want the person who makes the most money for your company to be in a prime position of happiness? No reason for Cena to drop the title here because he would just win it back anyways. WrestleMania has a pretty basic outline, and I just don't think a lot of people have learned it yet. WrestleMania is not an event to satisfy the smarks. It is an event to get the marks and in some cases, smarks, to remember it. Just because you don't remember anything noteworthy happening doesn't mean it's a bad PPV for everyone. Just means you didn't like it.
