I had to go with Scott Norton. I think Norton was one of those nWo members who got the best exposure out of the whole thing. I honestly didn't know Norton when he was doing the fire and Ice tag team but when he became a nWo member I saw a lot more of his work and enjoyed it with every match he had. A lot of my friends who watched wrestling during the time became a fan of his that way as well.

 

I actually got to meet Norton at the WrestleFanFest and he was a really nice guy to talk to. Plus I didn't realize how big he was, he's like a bear.

I used to mark out for Norton's reverse shoulderbreaker. In a simpler time prior to Canadian Destroyers and Vertebreakers, Norton's finisher looked like death.

 

My favorite thing WCW ever did with Norton was his mini-feud with the Cat. The Cat was cutting one of his somebody call my momma promos, and the camera cut back to the nWo b-team locker room, and at first I was a little confused. Then, just to be a prick, Brian Adams knocked on the bathroom door, and said "Hey Flash, The Cat's in the ring.......HE'S CALLING YOU OUT, MAN!". Then Norton stormed out of the bathroom, went down to the ring, and beat the holy hell out of The Cat.

 

The next week, The Cat was in the ring, trying to apologize for whatever he did to piss off Norton, then once again, cut to the nWo B-Team Locker Room. "HEY FLASH, THE CAT'S CALLING YOU OUT AGAIN!". Once again, The Cat was destroyed by Norton.

 

I think they ended up having a decent PPV blowoff, but still, those "THE CAT IS CALLING YOU OUT" spots were really good.

I always liked Norton, and will eventually go out of my way to see his Japan work. He did have that enforcer vibe to him, but he just always seemed to be there. They didn't put a whole lot of stock in his persona or character. His badass look and ring style pretty much did his talking I suppose.

 

 

My favorite nWo member is probably Nash. Had Hall been able to stay around more he would have taken it. I think Nash really held the nWo together during the original run.

 

 

Oh by the way, Sting was originally supposed to be the third nWo member according to either Hall or Nash in their recent shoot interview. Hogan saw the train leaving, and decided to do it. Although they did say he was iffy the whole day about doing it.

Curt Hennig in the NWO made no sense. I couldn't quite believe him in that role. He didn't look like the kind of guy that would need a bunch of running buddies.

What really put him over the top for me was how he no-sold the Crippler Crossface in his feud with Benoit. Benoit locked him in it and Norton just climbed up to his feet and picked Benoit up with him and slammed him. At the time, it was awesome.

However, Norton was one of my guilty pleasures. A huge guy with a believable power offence. Used properly, he could have been a great monster.

Wasn't that the same match where Batista stood up while still in the Crossface, walked to the corner, and rammed Benoit's head into the top turnbuckle until he released the hold? That was badass.
