Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 20, 2002 There is no glory in being that one mulleted guy in the Def Leppard shirt screaming at the cover band to play "Freebird" in the year 2002. Bet you didn't think you'd see me in this thread, huh? This quote is true. There is no form of life lower than the Freebird guy. It's even worse if they're doing it just to be funny, because it's such a terrible trite phrase that can't possibly illicit a laugh from anyone unless they are very serious about wanting to hear the band actually play Freebird. Then it's ok to laugh at their retardation. Trendy Freebirders though, just punch them in the neck. As far as recommendations go, there's probably a lot better ones already previously posted, since I don't get into the genre at all, but I'd say Snot is worth a listen, even if it is a rap/rock mixture. Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted November 20, 2002 "Word of Mouf" is an album you're going to love listening to over and over, especially the catchy beats in "Growing Pains", "Freaky Thangs" and "Block Lockdown"... Growin Pains is a good song, the only thing is that beat I've heard in at least 2 other songs (Dilated Peoples "Worst Comes to Worst" and Chino XL "Sorry")

Guest Cheech13 Report post Posted November 21, 2002 Seriously the rap albums worth checking out are: Wu-Tang- 36 Chambers (brilliant from start to finish) Public Enemy- It Takes a Nation... (not a huge PE fan, but you can't deny how good this is) Nas- Illmatic (Nas when he was actually good) Notorious B.I.G.- Ready to Die (Best rapper ever) 2Pac- All Eyez On Me (the reason people make a big deal about him) Run DMC- Raising Hell (best of the old school) Eric B & Rakim- Paid In Full (Rakim is brilliant) Jay-Z- Reasonable Doubt (Jay at his best Ice Cube- Amerikka's Most Wanted (when Cube was actually saying something) NWA- Straight Outta Compton (created gangsta rap) Dr. Dre- The Chronic (defined the west coast sound) Outkast- Aquemini (amazing) This will give a good foundation in hip hop. Figure out what you like out of this and you will know what you need about rap.

Styles 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2004 lol To be PERFECTLY honest, the infusion of ICP on TNA lately and best friend just getting into them has led me into them, so I looked up threads with "clown" (since "ICP" apparently is too short a search string or something), and kind of got lost in this thread. I've ALWAYS been a rock/metal guy nothing more, but I've been sampling some Outkast stuff to see if I like it since everyone is gushing about them. Can't hurt. And hey, I can read what I want! EDIT: Just in case you didn't get my PM, how did you know I was reading a thread that hasn't been bumped in 2 years anyway? EDIT2: Oh, I just realized there's an option to view what thread or forum the online members are viewing. That's...kind of...creepy.

Hes most noted for singing with Sublime, obviously. But he was also a trememndous freestyler and live rapper, so I think he should be included.

lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2004 I can't stress Jay-Z, Outkast, Mos and Talib, Nas, and Eminem anymore. That pretty much covers every type of rap artist there is. Get: Jay-Z: pretty much any of his shit save for Vol.3 and Roc-La-Familia. I prefer The Blueprint and the Black Album but others say Reasonable Doubt. You really can't go wrong with any of those cd's Outkast: Every single cd that they have made is great. Stankonia or Aquemini are their best Nas: Illmatic, Stillmatic, God Son, and The Lost Tapes are all very good Talib Kweli/Mos Def: Quality and Reflection Eternal are both top notch cd's that are more socially conscious than say a Jay-Z album Eminem: The Marshall Mathers LP is probably his best, but honestly his underground shit is amazing.
