I love King Diamond. His voice is so incredibly high that its amazing. Truly a god of the falsetto.
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I'm a Diamond fan myself, but only in small doses. It's just that it seems to me that a lot of the time, he's not singing - he's showing off. Yeah, you can sing really high, we get it. I just wish he'd keep his voice lower more often, as I just perfer the sound of his voice when it's low (relatively speaking, of course). Guest two_tuff_toddy Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I have to go with John Lennon,Paul McCartney,Maynard James Keenan, and Jim Morrison but not in that order. Kurt Cobain and Greg Graffin are really good also.

Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 LaJon (sp) from Sevendust, along with his bass player, their voices are very similar, but just different enough to make a nice harmony. Geoff Tate Robb Thomas Bruce Dickinson (Blaze Bayley would have made a decent replacement if someone had put his sack in a vise to get the extra octave out of him) Chris Cornell Jerry Cantrell (I was surprised how decent he was) Phil Anselmo (pre-Vulgar Display. He reminded me of Geoff Tate before he started growling and screaming exclusively) John Bush The lead singer of Dream Theater, whose name escapes me right now. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Oh my god, I fucking hate King Diamond. His voice is absolutely unlistenable. He sounds like his balls were cut off, reattached on his vocal chords, and then cut off again. He's a twice-castrated pretentious suckass that tries delving WAY too deep into bad music. He's like pure concentrated Dio. Even worse, he's a fat crystalline line of Dio rocked up into a substance not unlike crack. It seems reduntant, but everything he's ever written can indeed be summed up with "He can sing really high. Bully for him." The music surrounding his treble circus is nothing special either. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 If we're talking falsetto types, there's a track by a guy called Klaus Nomi on Morrissey's 'Under The Influence' compilation, I've never heard of him outside that but it's an incredible voice.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 While on falsetto, I'll have to throw out Jimmy Urine (Mindless Self Indulgence). I don't know if good is the best way to describe his singing, but it's entertaining.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2003 King Diamond has the skills to reach a falsetto, but I think he is nothing special.

That song kinda shows what I like about Roger as a singer. He's not technically that good, but he can put a lot of emotion into his songs. I think it's more a case of his vocals suited the songs he wrote to a tee, rather than pulling them down.

I think Roger is a phenomenal writer, and his melodic speaking can be great in places for the albums. But when it comes down to singing, David Gilmour and and even Rick Wright (VERY underrated) above and beyond.
