It should be at my door by Wednesday (got the 3 day shipping). What sucks is that the day after I ordered, EB's "Deal of the Day" had 2-day air shipping free. I got $5 off, so shipping was pretty much free for me anyways.

That's strange. I was just watching one of the videos, and you can definitely hear the ref count the pinfall. Maybe they took it out or something.

This game should be called Smackdown: Beyond Stupid because it lacks entrance music for the old time stars. Also from what I have seen, pics from the game, the graphics for some of the wrestlers are horrid, I mean Triple H looks exactly like Val Venis. And from what I read, this game has some terrible storyline bugs. For an overall wrestling game this sucks, but for wrestling matches this game might be good/great, haven't played it yet.

I'll no doubt find things I don't like about the game, but from everything I've seen in the reviews, it is a very solid game from top to bottom.

I didn't you idiot, learn to read. Here I go again: I said from what has been reported about the game, the game has tons of flaws so it cannot be great overall. However I heard this game has good/great gameplay, so that is a plus. Solid game top to bottom? That is what has been said but it is simply not true. I'll say this- from what I've played so far, if you're used to the regular smackdown engine, you'll need some time to get used to it.

That, and it'll take me HOURS to creat myself w/ the CAW. it's THAT deep.

It sucks because it comes out tomorrow to my EB, and uhm, I have class til 300 or so. Tomorrow is going to be a very slow day.

 

But I'm psyched, and for the legends, I may just decide to d/l all of the old school themes, burn them to a cd, then mute the tv and play the songs on a cd player. So it's all good.

On one hand, not being able to leap right into the game knowing how to work the controls from previous experience is a bit of a downer, it's always good when a game updates itself to avoid being stale.

 

I look forward to doing exhibition matches and figuring out the new controls, then kicking some ass in Season.

Same here. I tried to cancel my order and re-order again, but to no luck (you can't cancel an order beyond a certain point).

Got the game today at Gamespot. Here I my impressions.

 

The Submission meter fucking rules.

 

The grappling system is MUCH improved over the usual smackdown engine.

 

Falling from high places (or missing too many high flying moves moves) will make you weaker

 

You can't get cheap victories using the taunt against the computer anymore.

 

The EC is great, you can climb each individual chamber and pull off high flying moves.

 

The lyrics version of Evolution's theme is in.

 

I believe this had beaten No Mercy as the best game yet.

Kingpk, how dumb can you get? I am basing my stuff on FACTS that I got off of ps2.ign.com, these are not my opinions. Triple H looks like SHIT in the game, I have seen a closeup photo of him from the game and he looks like Val Venis, which is ridiculous. There is no entrance music for the legends, another fact, and this is completely unacceptable. And there are huge logic flaws in the storyline system which were mentioned in the ps2.ign.com review. The ps2.ign.com review also mentions clipping problems, which is another flaw in the game. I just hope that when a wrestler is in the process of doing a move on another wrestler, you can hit the wrestler who is doing the move onto the other wrestler and he will sell it. This has never been done before in the Smackdown series I believe and if it isn't done here, it is a huge flaw that kills the gameplay.

thrall, just shut up. Until you get the game, you are just being an annoyance here. Complaining about any small thing without being able to see the whole experience, paints you as a total joke. Smackdown: SYM had a lot of problems but guess what, so did No Mercy and every other damn game made and to ever be made.

 

Yeah I would have liked music for legends but will it take away any enjoyment from me, no, because many, myself included, skip music and entrances after the first week anyway. When you get the game and are open to any intellegent conversation, as opposed to nitpicking and mindless bitching, post all you want, I won't give a crap then.

I don't have to play the game to point out the flaws you fool, I can read about the flaws from a review or reviews of the game. However when I play the game I can see even more for myself, the pros and cons of the game. Huge logic flaws in season mode is a BIG flaw and its sad that all the wrestling games have had them. You can hear all about the HCTP storyline logic flaws on the ps2.ign.com review. Entrance music for the old time wrestlers should be there because many people want to see it. Please stop with the stupid comments, you are making a joke out of yourself.

Thing is, I've never made an attempt to be anything but a joke. And if you rely on reviews without playing a game for yourself, you are just a sad, pathetic person. I'd also like to think that many people would like to get rid of people who only bitch about anything like yourself, and I agree that it'd be a shame not to, because many people want to see it.

I rely on reviews for facts about the game, based on the reviews I decide whether to play the game, because I don't want to spend money on a game that I don't know if it will be good or not. I want to hear if it is good or not first so I can get a good idea and then decide whether to rent/buy the game.

Fine, I can see that viewpoint.

 

But really in the long run these flaws are fairly insignificant. I highly doubt anyone is buying a Smackdown game expecting it to be perfect.

 

So what if it isn't No Mercy, KOC, FirePro or VPW2, as long as it's an enjoyable game.

Without you I might have bought this game and have been entertained, noticeing the faults of the game on my own. Now I know that it's a bad game even thought the reviews have been all great and I and many others have enjoyed the previous games. You are such a brilliant individual to know, even with out playing, what we will like. Thank you.
