A Guy Who Injects Heroin Into Kids' Eyes

Your First Live Event

Recommended Posts

After the 10 Germans thread I was wondering what everyone's first live event was.

Mine was the 10 Germans night. All I remember was being hoarse after seeing the ME and that the Hardys lost to the RTC and I think Angle lost to Jericho. I know they wrestled but I don't remember who won.

I got in a huge fight with my wife (then fiance) over the fact that I went (I was in Edmonton for an appointment with a neuroligist) which almost stopped the wedding. It was so totally worth it :D

Back in '96, at the July IYH PPV in Vancouver. The main event was Owen Hart, British Bulldog & Vader v. Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson & Sycho Sid. Sure the card sucked, but it was very fun to be at live.

Jan '95, just before the Royal Rumble. I remember it well because I kept shouting that "Shawn Michaels was going to win the Royal Rumble!" during his Heartbreak Hotel segment, and he went on to win the Rumble the following week.

Oh God absolutely. I was a big mark for HHH at the time, and this was the last Smackdown before the Royal Rumble '02 where he wrestled for the 1st time on television since the quad tear.

I got to watch Austin do his beer toasting and laugh at Hunter doing his water spit with beer (GOD he sucked as a face).

Not to mention DDP was re-instated and gave the Cutter to Bossman in probably his last televised match.

Great event live and it featured a hilarious Booker/Angle segment. VERY enjoyable.

My first live event was at the WWE Smackdown taping this year in Halifax. It was definitely worth it as the WWE is a lot more fun live than on TV and I got to cheer for all my favourites plus see all sorts of wrestlers up close after the show was over. Also interesting was the pop level for everyone. There were almost no heels except for the guy going up against the local? boy. The crowd cheered everyone especially Benoit,Hogan and Lesnar. And Bret Hart is still way over!

Fantastic avatar by the way, CC!

October 1988 house show. Main Event: Hulk Hogan vs Big Boss Man. Don't remember the price, but I had a fun time (I was, like, 10, so I was far from smart. ;) )

Umm...my first show was a house show in 1992 with Ultimate Warrior vs. Papa Shango as the main event. Then I went to another one later that year and it had Bret Hart defending the World Title against Papa Shango. Geez...what was the deal with Papa Shango in the main events?

My first televised event was the RAW in 1997 where the Hart Foundation(actually it was DX blaming it on the foundation) defaced the Nation's locker room. It was also the RAW Mick Foley talks about in his book where Kane dented the ramp chokeslamming him.

May 93, just 4 weeks after WrestleMania. Bret Hart vs. Lex Luger and Mr. Perfect vs. Shawn Michaels.

Hell yes it was worth it. The tickets were only $16 but they were reasonably close and I got to see a number of guys leave after the show (HBK and Razor left together which was odd since they were scheduled to fight at the following month's show in Baltimore ... Razor was still a heel at this point).

First live show for me was a 1995ish WCW house show. It had Randy Savage, Outsiders, Lex Luger, Sting, Nasty Boys, Meng/Barbarian, and some others I can't remember. It was a pretty star-filled card for a house show. It was a lot of fun and was actually what got me into wrestling. We turned on Nitro the Monday afterwards and got hooked.

WWF House Show in May of 1995 the night before the first IYH.

It was a farewell to the Boston Garden show.

My first live event was fantastic. I was a lot younger, probably around the age of 10-12. It was here in my home city of Terre Haute. The Undertaker, HBK, Bret Hart...I'm pretty sure everyone was there.

It was my city where HBK won his first IC title. I was there. :)

I think he was referring to Bossman.

A WCW house show in 98. I think it was the weekend right before Halloween Havok. Saw two really good matches in Psicosis/Tokoyo Magnum and the Guerrero's vs. Boogie Knights.

My first event was Capital Carnage in London in December 1998.

Marked out a lot, even though I surfed the internet and stuff then.

I was WAAAAAY to much into DX.

My first live event was, I believe, right before KOTR 2000. I went from some high up seats in the first half, to a Luxury Box in the second half (my friend new somebody who worked there, or saw a friend whose dad had lux box seats. Free food, booze, and great line of sight.) At the end, Taker, Kane, and Rock did a spiel on how much they loved pie, and beat down HHH.

My second live event was even better- It was a house show, and me and my firend moved down to right by the entrance, so we were about 5-10 feet away from the wrestlers as they emerged- this was right about the time when Austin came back from his neck injury. Of course, I didn't bring a camera, since none of the pictures I took from the previous show came out. I still regret that.

I don't think I have any good live moments....

*imagines a WWE commericial with himself sitting in an empty arena while cheesy music plays in the background*

I was there when The Hart Foundation painted racial slurs over The Nation's locker room...no wait...I was there when HHH pinned Chris Jericho for the IC title for absolutely no reason...no wait....I was there whenever Undertaker made Jim Ross kiss Vince McMahon's ass....no wait....I was there when Chris Jericho jobbed to a DDT...no wait......I was there when Hulk Hogan and HHH were the two survivors of a battle royal and had a grueling(boring) match for the #1 contendership...no wait....I was there when Scott Steiner arm wrestled HHH...no wait.....DAMN WWE GIVE OKLAHOMA SOMETHING GOOD!"

WWE Smackdown/Velocity Tapings last year. GREAT experience. I saw...

Funaki win a match.

Matt Hardy jump to Smackdown.

The first time Los Guerreros teamed on WWE TV.

The first time Edge and Rey teamed on WWE TV (Not counting an earlier six-man).

The Rock vs. Chris Benoit

Oh, and my favorite part of all...

The debut of Funaki, SMACKDOWN NUMBAH ONE ANNOUNCAH!

Well worth the fourty bucks I spent on tickets.

March 11th, 2003. Brock/Angle on SD was supposed to be the main event, but it ended up being the match where Angle pulled the Doink-like switch with his brother.

It had a Team Angle vs. Rhyno/Benoit match too I believe.

There was also Kanyon vs. Shark Boy and Nathan Jones in a crappy match vs. a jobber.

Tajiri vs. Noble was a featured Velocity match.

Post-show Brock F-5ed Heyman a few times after Heyman cried for his mommy.

Wow, I can't believe so many of you hadn't been to wrestling event as recently as three or four years ago. My first show was a WWF house show just weeks after Summerslam '91. I had been a fan for about a year at that point, but had just started watching the programming a month before Summerslam.

As I remember, I was watching Wrestlemania III at the time, when my uncle called and told my mom that the WWF was coming to town and we went out and picked up tickets a little bit after that.

It was a day show and most of the big guys were there, except for of course, Hogan. Sid Justice was set to take on Jake the Snake, but he didn't show, so Savage ended up subbing for him, which was just fine by me, since I got to see an encounter between them before they ever had a televised match during their classic feud.

The matches as I remember were:

Skinner d. Ricky Steamboat

Undertaker d. Jim Duggan

Berzerker d. Greg Valentine

Randy Savage d. Jake Roberts

Beverly Brothers d. Bushwhackers

Texas Tornado d. Mountie

IC Champion Bret Hart d. Warlord

A very fun show for me and the rest of the family, actually, since they were into it back then. Bret was becoming my favorite at the time, so seeing him in the main event was great. I still have the Hacksaw Jim Duggan foam 2x4 that I bought there, as well. Good times.

Well, Dammit bob can't have all the fun correcting people! (Most notably me)

The nWo formed at BATB 96 a couple of months or so after Hall first surfaced. So, I believe that show would probably be in late '96 or early '97 you are remembering.

I can't remember my first WWf house show because I must have been two or three at the time. The first one I can recall was an AWA show where after winning his match, Buck "Rock and Roll" Zummoff gave me a high five and carried me and my cousin around the ring on his shoulders. Ahh, the memories :) .

A WCW house show in late '96/early '97. I don't remember much about it... DDP had a match, so did Harlem Heat... uh... I think the main event was Meng/Barbarian/Bossman vs Nash/Hall/Giant. I remember being pissed that the NWO came through the crowd on the opposite side of the arena.

Mine was a 1987 WWF House Show. Main Event was Los Conquistodores vs Strike Force. Yeah, I said MAIN EVENT. I live in Newfoundland remember, so I was lucky to see a house show at all.
