Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 To answer an earlier question, there are no Generic Titantrons, but there is Generic music. The regular wrestling AI is pretty good as K.A.M noted, but I found the revenge mode to be incredibly cheap. Hey K.A.M, was it hard on the Revenge mode levels, where you had to bust a guy wide open, to actually get him to bleed? I found it funny how I'd be doing a level like the construction yard, and one punch and the guy bleeds, but the 1st mall level, I had to basically punch a whole in the guys head to get him to bleed. Yes it was tough to make them bleed. I used the weapon because there was no other way I could bust them open. When the real wrestler came out(Bubba, Rikishi) it took me ten minute to make him bleed. Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I used Goldberg, Strong Grapple and kept hitting them till they finally bled. Or I went for the trash can and hit them repeatedly with it.
LJSexay 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 so.... what do you guys make of the game in general? What can be improved on, etc, and honestly, for somebody like me [who hasn't owned a game since No Mercy], how would this game do to tide me over til say.. next year? LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 Sounds like most who have played it like it so far in this thread. I'm definitely going to rent it.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2003 I'm going to buy it mostly because I can't stand the Def Jam Vendatta match of a million reversals and I need a CAW.

The wrestling part of the game is pretty top-notch, kinda skirting the middle of No Mercy and Smackdown's engine. It's a good game if you want to have a quick pick up match, or have a good iron man match with Angle and Benoit or the likes. The CAW is pretty good. It's on par with Smackdown's in terms of depth. The only weakness (other then limited roster) is the Revenge mode. You'll either love this mode, or hate it profusely. Other then that, I somewhat recommend it. Just call me Dan 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2003 Cran, I have the game now too, bought it today. If there is any way to do this, please relieve my frustration. I know I can't change a wrestler's appearance, only the moves, but is there any way to clone them in CAW, and use a slot to edit that template? I can't find each individual piece of attire and sort through it, why can't I just edit them in a CAW by copying them into a slot?
Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2003 I'd love to be able to tell you differently, but I just tried to do it and saw no way to do it. Looks like you're gonna have to create them from scratch, unless somebody else can tell you otherwise.

I can't find each individual piece of attire and sort through it, why can't I just edit them in a CAW by copying them into a slot? Well it's the complete opposite of No Mercy in that aspect. You can change the moves but not the attire? Imagine how much it'd suck to still have 2000 face Jericho and old Angle, be stuck with the Double Powerbomb finisher and go without the Anklelock (I'd just put his attire on Shamrock, but some of his moves and taunts would be too out of place for Angle), and not be able to make anyone stronger or weaker than they were in 2000. That's a relief... better stuck with the same look than the same moveset forever. I find it funny that WWE's reasoning for not letting gamers change the moveset back in the No Mercy days is the exact same reason they won't let us change appearances now. I don't understand why they'd do a complete 180 on that instead of just not allowing any editing at all. Boggles the mind it does.
Just call me Dan 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2003 OK, well if I were to create a Kane from scratch, where the hell is his attire? Is it not in the game? I can't find a shirt or pants or kneepads even remotely close to that. I think the CAW sucks. why can't they just make available everything already in the game (the wrestler's items) and just a few more additions? Probably take up less space and be easier. Fuck! LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2003 Bah when I make CAWs I'm not worried about fixing the wrestlers on the game already. I hope Hollywood Video has this to rent because I have a free rental for there.

A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2003 I went to Blockbuster today, and of course, they didnt have it. Can't wait to try it out, tho. Also pissed me off they only had like four copies of ESPN NFL Football
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2003 (edited) I think it's stupid to disallow either move editing or appearance changes. There's always going to be a bunch of new wrestlers coming in every year or so with moves or gear not in the game, so there's still going to be incentive to get the next one. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 Whoa I rented it tonight and it is fun! It really does feel like No Mercy in a lot of ways. I love how in the CAW you can plan your character's entrance down to where each camera is pointing on you on your way down.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 I went to Blockbuster today, and of course, they didnt have it. Can't wait to try it out, tho. Also pissed me off they only had like four copies of ESPN NFL Football Blockbuster won't get the game in until Friday (even though they get it on Tuesday with the rest of the movies, they don't put out games until Friday) and even then, if the store doesn't rent video games well, it'll be backlogged till the following week sometime. Considering today IS Friday, it got backlogged. Hell, maybe even two weeks later. And didn't you know that Blockbuster only gets huge copies of what is considered "blockbuster" titles? Hence why they don't carry Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness (at least here in Alberta), and other "small" named titles. This is why I rent more from my Microplay then Blockbuster. So at least two (out of so many) games to rent/buy from them (Disgaea I'm just buying).
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 Bought the game...because I'm a mark. I figured if I didn't like it I'd just trade it in and eat the loss as an expensive rental. Here's my impressions: 1. I like the gameplay more than any other next-gen wrestling game. I mean...alot more. 2. I like the CAW alot. Not better than SD! But somehow equally as good...don't ask. 3. I like all the unlockables IN THEORY...but I hate having to play revenge mode to get the money. 4. Revenge mode sucks a big fat donkey dick.
Jesse Badass 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 I bought WrestleMania XIX the first day it came out which was September 12 at Mobile. The Rock's entrance is the same as X-8 with the messed up arm rising. The reversals are good. The blood is good also. Don't expect WM XIX to be like No Mercy. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 Holy crap. I was playing a Hell in a Cell. Cena vs. Taker and I was Cena. We climbed up top and I gave Taker two FU's and on the second FU it was ME who went through the ceiling of the cage!! I dropped Taker on the non weakened part and Cena landed on the weakend part and fell through taking the ref with him!! Now that's a ref bump!!
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Sweet Dear God. I just watched the CPUs put on a MOTYC between Rock and HHH with the WM set, normal match. By the time the match was done both guys were holding their heads and blading. Rock kicked out of about two Pedigrees, NO SELL KIP UP out of another, HHH kicked out of three Rock Bottoms. It ended with HHH giving Rock a Pedigree on the outside, Rock getting up and giving HHH a Pedigree followed by a Rock Bottom on the outside, then tossing him in for one more Rock Bottom win the thing. The match went on for about 17 minutes. Holy shit.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Ok... WAY TOO MANY FINISHERS~!!! Still though, if built right, I could understand that. Hm... Games out you guys say??? Hm... Maybe I'll head to my Microplay and see if I can rent out a copy.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Well, actually, in XIX you usually have to start for a while doing regular moves to build up a finisher. There was about seven times in all one of the guys activated turned on their finisher power (you activate it and have to hit it in a few seconds) but didn't actually hit the guy with it. They went at it for a good 10 minutes before the finisher crazyness started. As the match wore on and both guys started wearing out, they got a free finisher for kicking out at the very last second just when it seemed they were done for. They just kept kicking out of EVERYTHING they could throw at each other and as a result a lot of finishers piled up.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I rented the game today and so far few complaints. The control...it handles kind of "loosey-goosey" and it gets on my nerves when I'm not facing the other wrestler. I also can't figure out how to do the Leg Drop of Doom. Heavens to Betsy. I've tried running and pressing A+B while the other wrestler was down. How can I enjoy the game without this?!
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I enjoy how these security guards can take three Bret Kicks Of Death and five Jackhammers and keep getting up. Why did I bother to play revenge as Fuck Goldberg? Ah well.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I had the most fun I've had in a wrestling game playing as Rey Rey in a Royal Rumble. The coolest part of the gameplay (although I must say the # of moves pleases me greatly as well) is the way you go into a finisher state...and can hit multiple finishers on multiple people while you are in it. It makes for some fun times.
