Walmart sucks, but $5.88 dvds don't

Recommended Posts

My cousin had a little thing going where he made a few bucks.

He'd buy the Amitityville III DVDs from all the Walmarts around here for that price, and then he would pimp them off on eBay for about $15.

He made around $100 on that shit before it was said and done.

I believe that DVD is quite rare, I dunno.

I almost picked up Suicide Kings.

I forgot to mention that today after I grabbed one I wanted on the top row,

I then hunched over to look at the bottom row. Within seconds I heard on

the intercom "security scan sections 36 & 37." Coincidence? And if they really

wanted to catch a thief, shouldn't they say something like "code 22, sections 36 & 37",

instead of using the word "security"?

Then they i.d. me at the checkout. I've been going to see r rated movies in the

theaters for over 15 years now and have never been asked for identification. I get

asked for i.d. less than half the time I buy alcohol, but good old Walmart has to make

sure a 17 year old doesn't get ahold of a Rambo movie.

That's just a bullshit announcement that they use in hopes that the shoplifters will get scared and won't steal anything.

The regular Walmart closest to me has a $5.88 bin that is a huge mess and

I had only looked through it a few times in the past. A week ago I went to the

second closest Walmart, which is a Super~ Walmart. Their $5.88 section

is on racks so you can easily scan across the top of the titles. They also

had $5.88 dvds mixed in with the new releases section. So I bought a few

and decided to go back today because it is Tuesday and they put out new

dvds. There had been quite a bit of turnover. A lot of the movies that they

had 20 copies of were now gone and had been replaced by movies that they

didn't have last week.

Here are the $5.88 ones I have bought there:

Casualties of War

Bruce Lee Fists of Fury/ Chinese Connection 2 pack

King of The Cage 2 pack (mixed martial arts fighting)

Freeway

8 Heads In A Duffle Bag

Super Dave

Rambo II & III

Batman (1960s)

most of these I wouldn't pay more than $10 for, but for $5.88 they get my money

Here are some others I can remember seeing:

Very Bad Things

What About Bob?

Wall Street

The Blob

Last Action Hero

quite a few Dolph Lundgren, Van Damme, and Godzilla movies

What about bob is a GREAT movie...GET IT!

Wall Street is fucking WALL STREET. GET IT!

damnit

At my Wal-Marts they only have the bins. The bins suck because it's hard to find anything good.

Choken, I must say..What About Bob IS a great movie!! Dreyfus and Murray have great chemistry.

I also Eight Men Out for dirt cheap there, and I'm a Cusack mark..so I'll have to find that.

I have Batman - I figured that since some of the Batman stars do the convention circuit that a signed DVD would be pretty cool. Of course, the last time I saw some Batman stars they were Julie Newmar and Yvonne Craig, neither of whom were in the movie.

Anywys, if I can find Very Bad Things (a great movie btw) or King of the Cage then I'll pick them up...

I'm addicted to Wal-Mart $5.88 DVD bins. Most of the time you can find different stuff at different Wal-Marts. Recently, I've purchased the following:

Rambo II

Wall Street

Big Trouble in Little China

The Lemon Drop Kid

My Fellow Americans

One Night at McCool's (never seen it, but there's a picture on the back of Michael Douglas wearing the worst toupee I've ever seen)

Batman t.v. show movie

a two volume set of 3 Stooges shorts

I'm at work and I know there are a few I'm forgetting. Also recently, I bought Cobra at Family Dollar for two bucks.

How is Suicide Kings?

Really good movie. Christopher Walken plays a mob boss who gets kidnapped by a group of preppies (including Jay Mohr, Jeremy Sisto, and Henry Thomas) in hopes that his connections will help them find one's missing sister. Denis Leary is also in it as Walken's right hand man. Great story to it.

Well, I wouldn't say I'm a mark for it, but I did get it out of the Walmart $3.88 VHS bargain bin :)

(along with My Fellow Americans and Dark City)

the VHS bargain bin is even better than the DVD one, it's cheaper AND there's a lot better movies in there, because people now are snobbish towards VHS.

Best Buy (at least my Best Buy) has a decent selection of 5.99 movies right now. The ones I can think of off the top of my head right now are:

Singles

Point of No Return

The Corruptor

The Ice Storm

Bedazzled

And a bunch of other random crap, but worth your time to check out.

I can't believe that Walmart sells Freeway.

They won't carry cds with bad words, but they will sell that and Rob Zombie's movie

House of 1000 Corpses.

Am I the ONLY "Very Bad Things" mark around here.

I like it, but I have seen it so many times on Comedy Central. I should pick it up

to see whatever they cut out for television.

They have the first 3 Spawn animated dvds at Best Buy for $5.99, also.

Everyone, stop what you are doing right now, and run (or drive, ride, whatever) to Best Buy and buy it, yes, buy it!

DARK CITY FOR $5.99~!

Run, go, get out of here. If you don't have the movie, you must buy this DVD. Not only is the movie awesome and the DVD is a New Line Platinum Series, but there are TWO audio commentaries on it, one being an outstanding one by Roger Ebert.

Exactly. A movie like HO1000C is bad, but a movie like Freeway that deals with necrophilia, child-pornography, incest, beastiality, gore, and all the language...for $5.88! Buy it just to hear KIEFER~! call Reese Witherspoon a cunt. Worth the money for that alone.

I got Freeway for $6.99 at Circuit City a few months ago and if it wasn't for Kiefer, Freeway wouldn't be half the movie it is. But, you just can't see Walmart selling a movie like that to all the kiddies out there.

The Wal-Mart here has stuff like Bedazzled, Nine Months, and Drop Dead Gorgeous in it right now. I've been debating getting One Night at McCool's, though. Does anyone know if it's any good?

As mentioned above, I bough it, but haven't watched it yet. I'll try to watch it by this weekend and let you know what I think. It had tons of extras on it and has a decent cast, so I would say that might be worth $5.88 alone.
