Guest El Satanico

I know it's a bit early, but I accidently posted it tonight. Since I posted it early, I figured I should go ahead and link it early as well.

This week features the big return of a cult classic to home video, after many years of being out of print. You'll have to go to the link to discover what movie it is.

Week of September 23rd

I must find Eddie Izzard's DVD. Now that he's found more mainstream success, it should be easier to get than Dress to Kill and Glorious were on VHS a couple years ago.

How did you manage to accidentally post this?

Either way, I think I just might be getting I Love Lucy Season 1. I've waited for this show for a long time.

Normally, I'd be all over the Smallville set, but my birthday is coming up in less than 2 weeks, and I'm hoping my mom will buy it for me.

I'm probably the only person excited about Gas Food Lodging coming out on DVD, but I will so be buying that some time in the next few weeks.

Well you see, on Friday I meant to program the article so it would be posted early Sunday morning like usual. I forgot to select program before clicking on the post article button. Instead of the site waiting to post the article Sunday, the site posted it right then.

Since I did that, I decided to post this on Friday as well. I bumped it for the people who didn't see it Friday or Saturday, while it was still near the top.

Oh, ok.

Anyway, I just checked the price on that I Love Lucy set at Amazon.com. They're asking like $90 for it. FUCK THAT.

I ran a search at dvdpricesearch.com and found it for as low as $73.45.

Here's a link to the search results so you can check it out yourself...

Thanks man. Although that still seems a little pricy if you ask me. It should be no more than 40-45 tops I think.

Summerslam 2003 comes out tomorrow too.

no extras?

From another post of mine concerning this issue -

OK -

Compression quality goes down when extras are included on a DVD release. This is USUALLY not a problem with theatrical releases that run 90 minutes in length, but these are WWE PPV's, which ordinarily have a running time of 160-165 minutes.

You're sacrificing the time it takes to compress the DVD (w/ extras) to get a quicker release date (in this case, only one month as opposed to two-three months for the U.S. and Canada.

EDIT: For an example of correct compression, WWEHV went two discs with Wrestlemania XIX, BUT included all the extras on Disc 2 (which only had Rock v. Austin and Brock v. Angle).

I dunno, I think it's worth it....it has more episodes than most tv show sets with 35. Hell they charge like $50-$60 for season set of Oz and they're only like 8 episodes so I'd say the $70-$90 would be worth it, at $90 it'd be less than $3 an episode :) It's a good way to look at it, heh

I agree that Oz is rediculously overpriced. Maybe the I Love Lucy set is "worth it" if you break it down to how much it costs per episode, but it's still a high price to drop on a dvd set all at once, ya know?

I dunno where you buy dvds, but out here at Frys/Best Buy Both seasons of Oz have been priced at either $35 or $40.......
