HHH Gone Until The Royal Rumble!

Two Questions?

Q: Who did Angle working with a broken neck help?

Q: Who did HHH working hurt help?

Which one left the rest of his show bare if he couldn't come back?

A: Brock Lesnar...certainly didn't help the WM buyrate

A:Jericho and Benoit

A: Quad Tear 2001 was before the brand split. Miraculous Neck Recovery was almost a year after. If we're talking about post split somehow, the world championship would be vacated or you'd lose a contender. I'd say RAW would hurt more having no world champ.

It Helped Jericho?

Maybe, it gives them a ready made instant angle when they need one but other then the one or two barbs Jericho gotten at HHH about the quad, It hasn't done him shit.

As for Benoit? Nothing came out it since.

How did it help Brock? Brock was already going over anyways...Yes Angle made Lesnar look as good as Possible but that doesn't mean he was helped.

Well both Jericho and Benoit got the tag titles from it and a world title triple threat with Austin I believe. Benoit then got injured and Jericho went on to have his best summer ever <--sarcasm

Brock got a WM main event win and a world title

Yeah but the injury had ZERO effect on this...

You speaking in Mark Kayfabe mode right now.

Those scenarios were already established...

Hunter's was more crippling to the scene as they lost a KEY player for the InVasion angle and they were building the Two Man Power Trip...

Not to like jump on any bandwagon here, but wasn't Benoit actually supposed to go over Austin before they found out he had his back busted up?

At least I thought that's what was told. Or was that speculation?

Just throwing it out there.

I always heard that Benoit was going over and being the violent asshole heel with Uber-face Jericho chasing him but then they change direction once Benoit was injured.

So let me get this straight:

He's not coming back till the month of RR.

That means there's slim chance of him winning the title at RR.

Then again, maybe he'll end up in RR.

He'll probably win RR and be the only person to claim he won it in back to back years.

He'll then go onto whoever has the title.

...can I just say that I wish he was gone longer. Cause if we end up in root two, it'll suck.

How can he claim winning it first back to back? When first off...Hogan, Shawn and Austin done it and he didn't win last year...

*sighs* I should never take time off of watching wrestling. I lose all sense of time.

well he did win LAST year but that was 2002...not 2003 in YOUR sceanario of him winning it when he comes back, it's 2004 so thus it's not back to back...

Sure, HHH has been fighting through injuries and all and that takes some serious guts. And yes, his work as the champion became a guilty pleasure of mine by the end of his run because of some his old school, Flair-like tactics (seriously, watch the title loss to Goldberg and tell me that wasn't a carbon-copy of Flair), but I'm sorry, I just can't feel THAT sorry for the guy.

His face run which included crushing Jericho in the culmination of possibly the worst WrestleMania title feud ever still sticks with me. And how many time did we have to go through the exact same thing in a title feud with him over the last year or so? It became so predictable and simply not fun. Even when he lost the title, things felt anti-climatic.

His in-ring abilities simply are not up to standard with what they once were. I respect the guy for finding ways to stay on top while he can, but quite frankly, if he's gone for awhile, I say good. He's run his course as the champion.

I say, let HHH heal up for a couple months, then come back and let him prove how over he is in a feud that DOESN'T revolve around a title. He had the HBK match at SummerSlam '02. Since then, he hasn't had a single feud that hasn't had the crutch of a world title to keep things interesting. Proving himself as a draw WITHOUT using the world title would be a real achievement.

Yeah and Angle got the surgery. Triple H has been fighting with the injuries.

In all intents and purpose, he had a freakin broken neck when he wrestled. When the doc says your neck is just as bad as Austins, he should not have done that match. One slip up and he would have become a cripple.

If Triple H wants to get back to 2000 form he needs to lose around 50 pounds and fully heal up, which won't have happened by the time the Rumble passes around. I'd have him come back at Mania and retire Flair once and for all.

Honestly, I think everyone should respect HHH's dedication, toughness and will......we might not like his little politic games, or him as a worker, or his promos.....but he's one tough sob and there's no denying it. The guy is dedicated to his profession and makes it his life. We should maybe not liek him, but respect him definitely

Can't wait until Stephanie loses the "I Quit" match so she and Triple H will be off for a while. I could handle Stephanie as Triple H's wife/manager again, but only IF she didn't try to hog the spotlight. Of course, we know that won't happen.

What's so funny about this story is that he's still guarenteed getting his title back.

Yes, I found that amusing as well.

Kind of sad that it's not a matter of if he'll win the title back but when.

Wow, what dedication to stay on Raw so he can keep his spot and bury all the Raw talent. That deserves applause.

My thoughts exactly. BPS echos much the same sentiment, and I agree with both of you.

I don't think anyone here is arguing that HHH isn't tough for working with / through injuries.

Some of us are just unwilling to praise him for doing that simply because he's doing it for the most selfish of reasons.

Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that Randy Orton is going to be the one to defeat Goldberg...?

HHH will come back at the Rumble, win it, and then we all get Orton vs. HHH as the MAIN EVENT of Mania XX

In the words of the immortal Lewis Black... "don't say it won't happen! Don't say it won't happen!!"

I have to think that if Orton/HHH is the plan for WM 20, then SD title match will most definately headline WM. ESPECIALLY since HHH will be struggling like crazy to get any sort of heat for his face turn.....

I say this is really great news. I think we can go a little bit longer without Hunter Hearst Hogan.

Don't insult Hogan by comparing him to Triple H.
