Same old same old in the top slots.

15: Floods: Dimebag Darrell (III)

That one got a "huh" out of me.

Nice to see Zappa get mentioned, too.

Not as bad as the 100 greatest guitarists. Nice to see Gilmour get 3 mentions. 'Comfortably Numb' is my number 1.

My numero uno: A Bit of Finger/Wall of Sleep/Warning-Black Sabbath (Tony Iommi)

Its almost the exact same from a few years ago, just some stuff was added in and some stuff moved around.

No Iron Maiden, but two Nirvana....

01: Stairway To Heaven: Jimmy Page (IV)

Amazing how one solo is enough to eliminate the validity of an entire poll, eh?

The studio version of the Staiway solo is good, but nowhere near #1. The live version from 'The Song Remains the Same' is far superior, and could be well considered for a top 10, even top 5 placing.

Brian May's solo in Liar is better than Bohemian Rhapsody.

Sorry, but nothing, NOTHING Paige has ever done with the guitar can be considered the best of anything. The man has no soul when he plays, and he's actually incredibly sloppy (considering the style of rock Zeppelin is wasn't meant to be sloppy, that's bad).

No love for "Angel Of Death" and its dueling solo's? Fuckers. All of them. Fuckers.

Well, that's all a matter of opinion (all except the sloppiness, I'll pay that one), as is everything with music. It's just that a ridiculously large amount of people seem to like Zeppelin, Page, and Stairway, and there's a reason.

I wish everyone liked a different Zeppelin song, like "How Many More Times." It rules over Stairway.

I thought sultans of swing might have been higher

I prefer In the Light and When the Levee Breaks over Stairway. But I do show Bron-y-aur some love, too.

BTW, nice clipping. Fun how outlaw deaths were such a moneymaking enterprise; the Bonnie and Clyde death car toured enough to make a stop in my podunk of a county.

I think I'm going to use it for a flyer for a show sometime. The clipping rocks, especially the headline.

I was wondering why Gary Moore isn't included in the list, maybe I'm still experimenting blues and guitar rock music, and may not have come across better stuff. I have listened to some of his stuff and find him pretty good. 2 of my favs are The Loner and Blues For Narada.

I thought Gary Moore deserved a mention in the list but maybe I'm wrong, so I was wondering how you guys rank him as a guitarist and his works.

Yes that I agree. But i thought he should have got a little bit more recoginition.

Definitely not. There's more to playing guitar than being John Petrucci.

Well, I really liked the incredibly rare guitar solo in In Bloom, but SLTS shouldn't be THAT high, IMO. Catchy? Yes. Recognizable? Yes. But that doesn't make it Top 30 worthy.
