Guest Redhawk Report post Posted October 8, 2003 I guess I'm a little too pumped for preseason, but oh well. It's also funny how NBA preseason gets 3rd from the top billing (Cavs-Pistons), yet I never saw one NHL preseason highlight. As a matter of fact, NHL starts tomorrow and I haven't seen any kind of season previews or anything on Sportscenter.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 All pre-season is evil. I am excited for the NBA season to start. The Wolves should be a scoring machine.

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 I haven't seen any kind of season previews or anything on Sportscenter. They've been pimping it, including using some of those annoying-as-hell mini-ads within a program. God I hate those. I remember one show on TBS back in August -- that horrid original movie with the shark and Coolio -- where they popped up an ad for college football with a cheerleader doing high kicks. I thought for a few seconds it was part of the movie and that the shark was going to eat her...
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 But can they get past the first round? It's gonna be tough. Obviously winning the Midwest would be the easiest path. With Dallas and San Antonio, it won't be easy. Even 3rd place, would likely face Portland in the first round and they're almost on par with the Big 5 of the Western conference. razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 The big question is can the Spurs score more than 80 point per game and did they get rid of the bad habit of losing games in the final quarter by giving up big leads? Will Tony Parker perform like an All Star this season now that he does not have to worry about Speedy stealing his job and glory?

razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Ron Mercer Hedo Turkoglu Anthony Carter Kevin Willis returns Rober Horry Sean Marks, have no idea who this is Devin Brown who is a local college kid Ernest Brown, potential bench warmer the championship team who remained Duncan Parker Ginobili Bowen Rose Willis Brown and Marks could be cut and no one would care. Guest Smark-Raving Mad Report post Posted October 8, 2003 My Sixers are the front-runners in the Mutombo sweepstakes. May I ask WHY? Everything was going so good this offseason, and now they might get Stone Hands back. I'd take him as a backup, but he'll want to start and have the offense run through him. Barf. I'm hoping my hero Scott Layden steps in and saves the day. Mutombo-Doleac 1-2 punch, you know you want it, Scotty! Make it happen!
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Not bad. Turkoglu needs to show he can be consistent. Carter can give you some points off the bench. Mercer is who he is. If he play defense that's what matters most.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Ah, preseason, looks like it's time for me to look forward to another season of false hope, underachieving, infuriating play and suspensions/arrests from the Trailblazers.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Spurs need points not defense, but if the new players fit the system then the Spurs will repeat. I hope Mercer and Turkoglu and get double doubles but that would be asking too much. If Manu can stay healthy then he could be a major force in the league in defensive stats. Willis will play the goon if need be and Malik could have a breakout season if he gets good minutes coming off the bench.

I feel sorry for Mo Cheeks who has to baby sit the team of under achievers.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Neither player has really lived up to their full potential. It might of been a matter of playing time, but there unproven commodities especially Turkoglu.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Well the Spurs do not need 2 Steve Smith clones sitting on the bench.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 As someone who watched him with the Pacers for the last year and a half, I can tell you Mercer ain't giving you a double-double.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted October 8, 2003 As someone who watched him with the Pacers for the last year and a half, I can tell you Mercer ain't giving you a double-double. 10 minutes + 10 field goal attempts = Ron Mercer's double-double
razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Well if that is all he does then Mercer can sit on the bench and Manu can start. Starting line up? Guard: Parker and Ginobili Forward: Bowen and Duncan Center: Nesterovich 6 man: Rose
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Is this how the Celts lineup is supposed to look? PG: Jumaine Jones(Former Cavs Player) SG: Paul Pierce SF: Eric Williams PF: Antoine Walker C: Tony Battie I'm just trying to figure out how Jumaine Jones is going to fit into the equation if he doesn't play the point. I've also heard rumors that he may play SF over E-Will.

I've also heard rumors that he may play SF over E-Will. Yeah, he isn't anything resembling a point guard. He will get the start over Eric. And Mercer is alot better than people try to make him seem. he just gets traded alot. He put up over 20 per game in Chicago, had a great season in Orlando/Denver and was delegated to having only a few minutes in Indy. He will play the Stephen Jackson role(technically Manu's role from last year actually) and will be better at it than Stephen Jackson was.

I am still unsure who will be the starter Mercer, Turkoglu or Ginobili?
Tony149 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 The Spurs' biggest problem was free-throw shooting, that's why their leads crumbled. Manu is going to start this year, IMO this will be his breakout year. Last year he got hurt in the World championship games, Pop & Duncan have been really high on him during training camp. With all the Laker love flowing in the media, I don't think they're going to win it all. I do think somebody from the West will win it, the Western division playoffs should be rockin' with all the upgrades the teams did.

ant_7000 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 I'm kinda intrested how the Bulls going to do. Crawford is talking playoffs no excuses. I think the Bulls will be in the playoffs this year. LeBron had a decent game last night despite bad shooting had 7 assists and I don't understand why Slias won't let him run the point.

LeBron had a decent game last night despite bad shooting had 7 assists and I don't understand why Slias won't let him run the point. Because he doesnt' have the quickness to defend opposing point guards. They saw that in the summer league as quick players would blow by him like he wasn't standing there, but he could defend two guards. They have to have someone in there that can stay infront of the points, seeing as they have no legit shotblocker in the middle.

razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Well if the Blazers self destruct then the Sonics have a chance.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 I think the Sonics are at least an 8 seed as it is right now with Allen, Rashard and Barry there. Colision and Ridnour will be question marks especially since Ridnour hasn't been in camp yet I don't believe.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 I think Collison is out for the season. But I think that they will definately be the 8 seed(someone has to take Utahs spot) and the addition of Antonio Daniels will be bigger than anyone thinks it will. With shooters like Barry and Allen, you are never out a game. Danials can create for himself, and they have decent rebounders and defenders inside. They should do fine.
