Best. Restaurant. EVER!, Worst. Restaurant. EVER!

Olive Garden may be my least favorite resteraunt of all time. I will never go back there.

What happened?

Hardees destroys all other fast food by sheer volume of meat. Their fries are good as hell, also, and they have those utterly massive super-size drinks. McDonald's is like a beat up corporate pussy, while Hardees is a juicy thing that's actually enjoyable to eat.

All the same, there's still something about those McDonald's fries that keeps you coming back. Probably the injected beef flavouring...

Does anyone remember a few years back when there were all these rumors that Olive Garden cooked their food from frozen packages or something. Like the resteraunt ordered them pre-frozen and just heated them up......

I remember that, and I don't remember being all that surprised when I heard it. Still, it's probably not true, because if you can make a good sauce, freeze it, reheat it and still have it taste good, you'd put it in supermarkets at $3.99 per 8 oz package...

The worst? Well, Coffee Time sucks. Usually filthy, useless staff, and really, really bad coffee. Someone near me actually managed to lose a franchise, and I always get a laugh out of the sign, which still has the "Coffee" half of the logo, with a cheaply made "4YOU" sign in similar colors stuck up in the outline of the absent "Time" half.

Coffee Time seems to have a lot of trouble keeping franchises, as I see a lot of ex-Coffee Times in Toronto. It doesn't help that both their coffee and donuts suck. Thank goodness for Timmy Ho's.

Taco Bell and Taco Bell. And BobBacklundRules, while the food at the Mandarin is pretty hit or miss, I've dated two waitresses there, one who gave me their numbers when I was eating there.

If you ever go to TGI Fridays/Applebees and the food sucks, just complain to the server and they'll hook you up.

For instance, I ordered a club sandwich one time that looked terrible, so I complained and the waitress came back 10 minutes later with one that looked EXACTLY like the picture on the menu.

Color me satisfied.

I'm really not a fan of any chain restaurant. All the Applebys/Chiles/Fridays/Olive Gardens of the world don't do it for me at all. They mass produce way too much food and it is never as good as what you get in an individual restaurant.

But, I did have the pleasure of eating at both Pappacito's and Pappadeux's in the Houston area a few weeks ago while traveling for work. I don't know if they're chains or not, but the food was excellent (especially at Pappacitos. Some of the best fajitas I've ever had.)

Sounds like the local donut shop that used to be Dunkin Donuts.

Nothing really happened, it was just bad experiences at the place. First of all, I went there for homecoming one year when I was in high school (which was the last time I've been there) and the food was just really crappy, not to mention the crappy date that I had. I think I had some kind of raviolli and it tasted like cardboard. Plus, the service was always bad there, and you know that a resteraunt is not high quality when a party of six's bill comes out to $40 with tip.

To me it is just the bottom of the barell when it comes to resteraunts.

McDonalds>Hardees

They only way McDonalds is better than Hardees is price related.

In term of the food McDonalds can't touch Hardees/Carl Jr. Hardees uses thick real meat patties, while McDonalds uses thin processed meat patties.

It's not even a contest, unless you're looking for cheap fast food and not $4 restaurant burgers.

I agree.

I did get into buying the Hardees Burger meals for a little while, but the prices blew a hole in my pocket. Restaurant style burgers are a plus, but I wouldn't regularly buy them at $6 a piece when I could go to McDonalds and get two double cheeseburgers for less than $4. There’s no denying McDonalds is tasty, so I have no problem getting burgers there. McDonalds fries on the other hand, I could never eat.

I bow before you.

I cannot eat at the mandarin without checking out at least two of the hot Asian girls there. And they can magically refill your drink, you turn your head and as soon as you look back it's filled. Awesome service. I have yet to leave the mandarin without feeling bloated with tastyness.

Portillo's owns every restaurant so bad it's not even funny. They ARE that damn good.

Portillo's has the 2nd best. Hot dogs. Ever. Only Gulla's in Bellaire, Ohio beats Portillo's.

Hey Czech, what are your opinions on Portillo's beef sandwiches?

Where are you from, Czech? As far as I know, Portillo's is only in the Chicago area, so I was just curious. I had neevr ehard of the place until March when I went up to Wheaton, IL, and my friend who lives up there said I absolutely had to try it. Man, the food there is killer... I had a chili dog with cheese and onions, along with some of the best fries I've ever tasted. Highly recommended.

As for my favorites...

Non-fast food: Cheddar's, Olive Garden, Red Lobster (I hate lobster but love most seafood), Chesapeake.

Fast Food: There's something I like at every place just about, but my favorites are Subway, Taco Bell (although they shut down all the ones here) and Burger King.

Pizza: Ah, my favorite food ever. The best has to be Papa John's, followed by Vic's, Pizza Hut, and Antonio's.

There's this wicked little grease hole around here called the Hoosier Drive In which will prepare a breaded tenderloin that will make your intestines cry. With onion rings the size of bicycle tires.

Favorite real restaurant: Cracker Barrel. I can eat anything on that menu, but I have yet to have a problem with anything on it...the food is always cooked perfectly...the service is usually nice and courteous...it's easy to dine and dash...great restaurant. Runner up: The 99.

Least favorite real restaurant: Denny's. I have never had a pleasureable dining experience at ONE of the hundreds of Denny's that I have been to. Incompetant waitstaff...45 minute waits to have our orders taken...ordering coffee and getting a Sprite...trying to track down the waitress to get coffee and finding out that she had gone home for the night...just nightmares there. Terrible, terrible restaurant....the only good thing is their prices. Runner up: CrApplebee's

Favorite fast food: Wendy's. Good food, cheap prices. I can get a decent dinner with a burger, fries, a drink, and a frostee for under 4.50$. Nothing beats that. Runner up: Walt's Roastbeef...or...Dunkin Donuts

Least favorite fast food: Burger King. By default I guess. Nothing really redeeming about eating there. Most of my car conversations: "Well, there's a Burger King..." "Uh...there's nothing else?" "Nah, this is pretty much it" "Eh...I guess." The service usually sucks...it's just a waste of time. Runner up: Arby's. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

I'm a big fan.

Oh by the way Matt, I live around southern Wisconsin/northern Illinois, part of what's borderline Chicago metropolitan. (Another positive by-product: I'm within equal distance from Madison, Rockford, Milwaukee, and Chicago for WWE shows.) So I'm very much familiar with Portillo's, Peep's, Luke's, and John's Garage. Wisconsin does have Culver's which has been creeping southward in a friendly Wisconsinesque way. But yes, you are right to recommend Portillo's. A great great place, indeed.

If all you guys saying Arbys sucks haven't been in a while, go. They got a lot of new stuff that's really pretty good.

I definitely agree with the Bankster here. i don't believe I mentioned Arby's, but I worked there almost 3 years ago and got free food every night, and the shit's delicious. Beef and Cheddar, Chicken/Bacon/Swiss, Big Montana, and the curly fries are some of my personal favorites.

I'd expect that kind of revolting shittalk from the amphetamine eating feline up there, but from an actual EMPLOYEE? Good god man, you've got a high tolerance for sick nasty food. The smell of Arby's still churns my gizzard. I'd go home every night caked in the roast beef slime.

oh, and that isn't the bankster, though I suppose it'd have been funny to let you keep thinking that.

They serve food. When one has to live within their budget, little luxuries like cloth napkins sort of lose their appeal.

I usually just cook. It's infinitely cheaper, plenty easy, and I don't have to tip, or deal with waiters, other customers, etc. When I do eat out, it's usually grabbing a burger, or hitting the chinese buffet or something.

Well, I feel stupid. It was 3:30 AM though, so I was kind og out of it. For some reason, I tend to get Banky and IDRM (at least I think that's who Tigger is... hard to keep up with all this shit) confused for whatever reason.

As for the Arby's food... I stick by my statement. I don't think there's a fast food chain that I don't like, which probably contributed to me being a fatass from ages 7-18.

Thinking about it, this makes sense. Considering the overall shittiness of the operation, it's probably not the big winners of the business world who are getting Coffee Time franchises in the first place.

Tim Hortons is indeed both the champ and for champs. Extra large black coffee and a Fruit Explosion muffin and I'm good until lunch.

I visited Chicago during August 2001, and got invited to eat dinner with some voice actors/actresses of the Dragonball Z show (Bulma, Krillin) and later Jason Mewes of J & SB fame. It was during Wizard World's 2001 Chicago convention and the restaurant was directly across the street from the Rosement Convention Center.

It was super high-class and extremely pricy, but forever remains the greatest food/drink I have tried. Anyone have an idea of the name of the place? I believe it's one word.
