Guest Besus Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Orton is not over. Never was, never will be. Anglesault = Nostradamus? and he's boring and dull on the mic. And Kurt Angle Is better? He's Boring and Dull on the Mic.

And Kurt Angle Is better? He's Boring and Dull on the Mic. And yet Angle still gets huge reactions for his mic work. Of course, you could argue that Orton gets deafening reactions. I certainly don't hear shit.

Cherry Blossom Viscount Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Yes, because X-Pac was a heel when he got "X-Pac heat."
Guest Anglesault Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Yes, because X-Pac was a heel when he got "X-Pac heat." .... Uhm, he kind of was. Remember X-Factor? The failed face turn confirmed it.
Lil' Bitch Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Sure he did.....for about 8 seconds when he first tagged in. That's about it I was refering to the attack on Cuban, but you have a great point.
Cherry Blossom Viscount Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 What face turn? They had X-Pac act like the same old asshole X-Pac except he was going out against heatless Alliance jobbers. Someone was going to get some heel heat and the asshole everyone knew was going to be the one to get it. He never TRIED to act like a face, except one promo where he acknowledged he was an asshole and said he was a WWF asshole, and guess what, the crowd cheered. And X-Factor was NEVER a face group. In fact, Albert and Pac was the only WWF heels during the Alliance angle.
Guest Anglesault Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 And X-Factor was NEVER a face group. In fact, Albert and Pac was the only WWF heels during the Alliance angle. I know. I was saying that he got the true definition of "Go Away Heat" (X-Pac Heat) during the X-Factor days. As a heel.
Cherry Blossom Viscount Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 When people want you to "Go Away" they don't respond, see Orton, Randy, Cade, Garrison, and Jindrak, Mark. Giving people heat ensures they are always there to rile up the crowd.
LaParkaYourCar Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 When people want you to "Go Away" they don't respond, see Orton, Randy, Cade, Garrison, and Jindrak, Mark. Giving people heat ensures they are always there to rile up the crowd. Some fans don't seem to understand that they should sit on their hands instead of booing. X-Pac's heat was so bad and so consistent that you could tell it went beyond gimmick heat.
Cherry Blossom Viscount Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 How can a whole arena not understand this? When people don't care for somebody or want them to "go away" they sit on their hands. That was the easiest way to make sure someone never showed up again, don't react.
Cherry Blossom Viscount Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 X-Pac got real heel heat, deal with it. He was good at being a heel. He was a punk, that's how it was. If people were as sick of X-Pac as you all claim, they would react like they do when Test comes out. They didn't. They went out of their way to give the man his legendary heel heat.
LaParkaYourCar Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Honestly any mark I ever talked to really hated the guy. Fans like to be heard and about the only time they'll stay quiet is if something is boring or stupid...not because they're trying to make some bold statement.
Use Your Illusion Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Batista grew on me by about 10 million points when I saw him demolish Bill Goldberg on RAW in his return. No idea why, considering what he did has been done before, but I was somewhat impressed and interested in how he was going to evolve from there. He can also cut a decent enough promo when he wants to.
Guest MikeSC Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I know what you mean, but they were NEVER over to begin with. When Cena first came people were raving about his match with Angle, and then the rap gimmick came which got him over. When Brock first appear people were talking about how big and strong he is and athletic and look at where he is now. It wouldn't matter if they got injured because what's going on right now on RAW proves that it isn't relevant. Orton still can't get over no matter what they do. Batista isn't THAT over but he is improving though. Umm, with Orton, people ATE the RNN thing up. They LOVED that thing. And I like Batista just fine. -=Mike
Cran Da Maniac Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 And most people hated Cena after he debuted, as he was just a bland OVW jobber before hitting on the rap gimmick.
NoCalMike Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Three tidbits: Angle's character has become dull. I dunno if it was a case of too much too soon, but I am just so spent on both his heel/face character. Although I feel he is overrated in the ring, I still think he is a good worker and can put together a solid match with ease, so if they just tweak his character a bit, he will be fine. That is of course, if he is not done forever. Orton: This guys has been boring to me for awhile now, and his ringwork is not making up for it. The only thing he has done that I ever thought was funny and/or kept my attention, was last week when he went on commentary for the RVD match and JR was pissing him off and he told them to watch out cause he considers them a "legendary" commentary team. I admit that had me laughing. Batista: How many of these guys does WWE want in their company? Batista has the look, however that is ALL he has. Plus, just about every guy WWE brings in is a musclebound roid head, so what makes Batista any better......his back tattoo? Oh and as far as Triple H wanting to "help the younger guys catch a break" well how fucking nice of you Mr. Helmsley, help two guys catch a break when you already have your nutsack all over the book, huh? I call bullshit. There are plenty of "young guys" in the company that have been busting their asses, proving themselves for a couple of years now that are way more over then your two suckbags, and are definately more worthy of "catching a break"
LaParkaYourCar Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I think the fact that HHH says he's determined to get Orton and Batista over yet he tells everyone else to "get yourselves over" is just plain messed up.
Guest Goodear Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Why is it everytime someone that the SM community doesn't like gets heat, its automatically 'X-Pac' heat? Anyway, 'X-Pac' heat is a unbelievable ASSET to a company as people will always pay to see someone they don't like get killed deader than dirt. That's why The Honkey Tonk Man was such a success as Intercontental Champion. The heat you all should be worried about is when Jericho gets face pops. By being a 'likable' character, people don't get caught up in the drama of who wins or loses a match since they like the faces and like Jericho too. There is no let down when the heel wins then and as such, no boost when the face finally comes through.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I want to know the difference between "X-pac Sucks" and "Eddie Sucks"... is it an emphasis thing??? Kill BART, KILL Bart, Kill BART, KILL Bart... Ah the Simpsons, is there anything you don't cover?
Guest Goodear Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 The only difference is that people hated X-Pac so freaking much after the Kane feud that it was damn near impossible to turn him then.
Jack_Bauer Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 X-Pac was an absolutely super heel. I didnt like his in ring stuff much, but the heat on the guy was off the charts at times.
dubq Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Too bad he helped two young guys who absolutely suck. Now if he woulda helped Paul London.. London wasn't even with the company when Evolution was formed...
Cherry Blossom Viscount Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Honestly any mark I ever talked to really hated the guy. Fans like to be heard and about the only time they'll stay quiet is if something is boring or stupid...not because they're trying to make some bold statement. So, they're not making a bold statement you say? Then I guess that kills those old "Get off my TV" and "Go away" heat theories right? And weren't the old smark complaints against X-Pac that he was dull and boring? But, wait, fans don't react to that. So X-Pac was doing something right. There's no difference between X-Pac's heel heat and Benoit's back in 2000 when people were chanting "Benoit Sucks." The only difference was that X-Pac didn't need Shane McMahon, Mick Foley, and The Rock putting Benoit over. He did it by himself. There's no difference between the "Shave Your Back" chants that A-Train gets and the "You Tapped Out" chants Brock gets. Heat is heat, if you're a heel and you get good heel heat, then you're doing it right.
Anya Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I played more of X-2 tonight. The game is incredible. GOTY! I am totally into the much hyped "girly" tone. It's not just lighthearted, it is funny and charming. I love Paine. I really get a kick out of her serious, business like attitude compared to Rikku. The new battle system is so cool and fast. It seems like you earn abilities extremely quickly. I have had Yuna as a white mage for like half of Chapter 1 and she already has learned all of the good spells like Full-Life and Curaga. My only complaint so far is that they didn't give Lulu and Wakka new looks. It's been two years, come on! It's ridiculous how they poke fun at Wakka for being fat when he looks EXACTLY like he did in X.

I suspect HHH may may know it's going to be harder for those two to get over when they're basically playing HHH Lite and standing in his shadow. That way he can look like a company man who did everything he could to get the new guys over....it's not his fault it didn't work.
