haVoc 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Management was said to be very happy with what they saw of Christian working as a babyface with Lita at the house shows this weekend. I don’t know where they are going with the angle between the two of them, but the company now has some confidence that they could turn him babyface and have it work. Speaking of management, I heard that they are very happy with the recent work of Test and Maven, but the talk is that they realize that during her time out recovering from neck surgery, Lita was passed by the other divas. That is understandable since during that time, Fit Finlay made the women’s division his pet project and helped improve the quality of work performed in it noticeably over the last year. The feeling is that she will do the work needed to reach the current standard of women’s wrestling on Raw and be fine in the long run. HHH was carefully testing his injured leg a lot at the house shows this weekend to prepare for his match last night with Goldberg. He was said to be happy with how it held up and had, in my opinion, a solid match with the champ last night. Kane worked the house shows this past weekend with a really bad case of the flu. In Tacoma, WA on 11/22, Tommy Dreamer and Mark Henry got into it a little bit during their match. As best as I can tell, they were ticked at each other due to something that happened during the bout and got hot before eventually calming down later. It’s no secret that a lot of guys have gotten upset working with Henry, for what it’s worth. There were some somewhat scary moments on the ride back from the Yakima, WA house show on Sunday when the caravan of wrestlers had to drive through a snowy patch on the mountain road. Having had to do that myself in the past, I can tell you that it’s not fun, especially when you are not used to it. Credit: 1wrestling

Or the whole, he is being pushed ahead of guys who are way more talented thing. Take your pick.

I bet they'd eat Mark Henry first.

Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Speaking of management, I heard that they are very happy with the recent work of Test and Maven Yeah, check out those dropkicks and armdrags. They're ELECTRIC~! and SCINTILLATING~! Seriously, though, I don't see this improvement from Maven. He's still very "white bread" in the ring.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 A few things from Smackdown Tajiri worked the house shows with the flu and a high fever, well into the 100s. From what I heard, he still insisted that he wrestle, even though he probably should have been in bed. A lot of fans have noticed that Nathan Jones and Matt Morgan are pretty green and need a lot of seasoning in the ring before they will really be considered stars. WWE management knows it too and plans to get them as much work as possible so that they can improve their in-ring work. From where I sit, they have a better chance of doing so with Morgan since he is a lot younger than Jones. I heard from a few people at the Smackdown weekend shows that the agents were spending a lot of time talking with the talent about how to present and do things on the show. This is a great move for the company since the house shows have been kind of flat of late and could use some different voices. Also, in a lot of cases, when you involve a wrestler in the process of laying things out, they tend to be even more into it, so it’s a good move all around. I don't get why these guys aren't allowed to book most of their own matches anyway? Maybe we do complain too much about certain guys work in the ring when their being danced around like puppets by management.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I agree, Maven is just sort of there in a Tom Zenk "I'm a happy face!" kind of way. Nothing sets him apart from Cade (who'se been pulling himself together the last two shows) or Jindrak.

The man is a innovator! Most guys stick to one finisher but Maven is so damn talented that he can switch finishers from week to week. The kid must have a moveset a mile long! Guest Danny Dubya v 2.0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 For one thing, on last week's Heat or whenever it was, in one of his matches Maven was headlock-a-rama and I felt very very strong urges to do things to my TV that would've ripped all the flesh off of my arm but left me strangely satisfied before I passed out and died. It was like he had that headlock applied for the entire match... ... it was horrible. I've seen some improvement in Maven, but he's not going anywhere until he ditches those kind of continual boring restholds.

WWE management knows it too and plans to get them as much work as possible so that they can improve their in-ring work Great, that means they'll be mainstays on SD for months on end. Morgan might be worth the effort, but wouldn't have him on SD every week to get in the work. He should still be in OVW, or in the very least working dark matches (rather than Kanyon). As for Jones, he's not even worth the effort. How old is he? He's gotta be in his 30's, and I can't see him improving much. The only thing he has going for him is his intense stare, but the mystique is killed when he can't even deliver a boot w/out falling over.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I think on "Byte This" last week Morgan said he's still working out in OVW on his off days. At least he's showing effort.

I don’t know where they are going with the angle between the two of them, but the company now has some confidence that they could turn him babyface and have it work. Tell me again why they insist on forcing that CLB taunt down our throats. If they're turning him face, they I don't think they should be urging the crowd to insult him. BTW, has Christian ever really been a face? I know he was treated as one during the first couple of months of the invasion, but that was basically him hanging on Edge's coatails until the inevitable turn. Speaking of management, I heard that they are very happy with the recent work of Test and Maven When aren't they high on Test?

I believe he and Edge were face for a while during the early stages of the E&C/Hardyz/Dudleyz wars. It was shortly after that they turned heel.

I know he was treated as one during the first couple of months of the invasion, but that was basically him hanging on Edge's coatails until the inevitable turn. Edge and Christian were faces after the Brood broke loose from the Ministry of Darkness and through a feud with the heel Hardy Boyz with Michael Hayes. Then The Hardyz dumped Hayes and E & C dumped Gangrel and they had a little battle for respect deal which ended up with E & C going heel again with their '5 second pose' phase. Silence 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I loved the '5 second pose' phase and it's probably the biggest reason why I wish they never broke them up. Not only that, but Christian is a poor singles wrestler because he resorts to too many chinlocks and even had Jericho doing them after tagging with him for so long.
