1234-5678 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2003 I have no idea. Maybe Stevie is getting cut, or maybe WWE is letting him do this one shot for 3PW.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted December 28, 2003 WWE allows people in the under-card who don't get many House Show appearences, to find bookings elsewhere....EXCEPT NWA-TNA.
Guest PowerPB13 Report post Posted December 28, 2003 Maybe Stevie is getting cut Stevie: Talented, entertaining, not a hoss. Nope, can't see any reason why WWE would want to keep him around. -Patrick

I thought if you were contracted as a wrestler, then you couldn't work Indies. Jerry Lawler and Al Snow are contracted announcers, so they can.

Dreamer has appeared in several indy promotions, including RoH. Plus I've seen him on IWA from sometime last year too. Al Snow/Lawler are technically under contract to WWE and appear on house shows sometimes, so they'd have to get clearence by WWE maybe. Remember, WWE veto-ed Lawler working for MLW show "War Games" because he wasn't suppose to be on another promotions (TV) show and MLW broke the agreement. 1234-5678 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2003 WWE probably cleared it, and Meanie is smart enough to know that Stevie as a face could still draw fans to the ECW Arena. I'll be there anyways, since I enjoyed the show yesterday, but seeing Stevie back home will be an extra added bonus.
Guest bort Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Rey Jr worked a show in mexico a few weeks back Dreamer appeared in ROH but didnt wrestle So this is the 2nd time i remeber a wwe worker 'Wrestling' at an indy Smart move by meanie as i think having stevie will help him draw a bit more, maybe the office felt bad for steive after crash and let him takie the bookin because of that
Guest JMA Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Can't they bring Nova in too? I mean, he's in OVW and hasn't been called up yet.

The WWE allows lower-card workers to take indy dates (w/ approval from the WWE, I think) to make extra money.

Since he spoke to the wwe to get permission to use richards couldn't he have asked for Nova as well?

Hey, maybe they should let Rob Van Dam work indy shows again...Lord knows he's not much higher on the totem pole than Stevie. -Patrick
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Yeah, guess what? Stevie Richards isn't that good. Just because he was decent in ECW doesn't make him any good now. And I can say, with confidence that he wasn't all that good of a wrestler to begin with.

He came back from that serious neck injury and is arguably in the best shape of his life. Not to mention his enviable charisma and mic work.

Guest JMA Report post Posted December 29, 2003 'Excellent' is a strong word isn't it? The neck injury was pretty serious. Didn't he even work when he was supposed to be healing and re-injure himself?

NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Stevie was also booked as a clueless putz in ECW and he played it too a perfect T. He was just getting ready for a big push before he took off for WCW, and hell his PBP on the Sandman vs. Raven "old-school rules" match was fucking GODLY. Guest JMA Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Stevie's excellence is in his charisma and entertainment value. He'll never be one of the best workers in the WWE, but he isn't that bad. I didn't say he was one of the best workers. I said he has excellent workrate. I feel that there's a difference between the two.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2003 Stevie was an expert at what he did. It just may be that he is not well suited for the WWE approach to prowrestling. His comedic style is much more suited for an indy/smarter crowd, where the comedy is a bit more subtle then, "you look like a piece of monkey crap *insert mass applause here*)
