Slayer Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Since my pursuit of CDs has exhausted itself over the last couple of years, I'm now looking into musical DVDs, especially concert vids. My primary musical genres of interest are heavy metal and hard/classic rock, but I am amenable to most forms of music (I am of the mindset that there are no good or bad genres as a whole, just goods and bads within genres)
NoCalMike Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Slayer DVD is supposedly good. Metal Blade Records boxset.
Spaceman Spiff Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Pearl Jam - "Touring Band 2000", and "Live At The Garden"
snuffbox Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Smashing Pumpkins - Vieuphoria Alice in Chains - Unplugged
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Stop Making Sense--Talking Heads I'm certain that multi-disc Can set is awesome, but it's not like I have the $50 to spend on it.
Guest DR PHIL Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 I can vouch the slayer is good, with some extras as well.
dubq Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Alice in Chains - Music Box.. all of their videos spliced with excerpts from an old AiC documentary of sorts...
BX Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 You CANNOT go wrong with the Led Zeppelin DVD. Anyone who says otherwise is a fucking subversive.
LaParkaYourCar Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Metallica - Live Sh*t: Binge and Purge (There's a version with DVD's) Other Metallica DVD's: The S&M Concert, A Year in the Life of, Cunning Stunts, The Black Album DVD, and Cliff 'em All (I think).
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 AC/DC - Live at Donington Got it around Christmastime at Target, on sale for $10.99...good shit.
Zetterberg is God Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 CKY-Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild: The Video Album.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 The best I've ever seen is "Stop Making Sense" by Talking Heads. The visual story that accompanies the auditory one helps it rise above what is normally considered a "concert film." Also I love how they don't waste time with crowd shots and just frame certain band members for long periods of time.
DMann2003 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 AC/DC - Live at Donington Got it around Christmastime at Target, on sale for $10.99...good shit. Oh yes excellent concert, I picked it up for 12.99 myself. Angus/Malcolm give brief audio comments on their discography.
DMann2003 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Oh and The Last Waltz, finest concert documentary. And if you're willing to splurg- Criterion Collection's Complete Monteray Pop Festival.
