Mole Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 This is from EW, and I am not sure if this has been posted here. GAME OVER Prime-time animation is a notoriously risky genre, but UPN will take a chance on a unusual new CGI half-hour comedy that follows a family of videogame characters (voiced by folks like Patrick Warburton and Lucy Liu). "Real" cybercharacters such as the Abe's Odysee gang or Crash Bandicoot will guest-star. "There's this giant audience of gamers who haven't been approached with the proper respect and genuinely inspired project," says creator David Sacks. "We're the first show to take videogames as a cultural phenomenon seriously." Now all he has to do is get the joystick jockeys to switch off the PS2 and turn on the TV.(spring)
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 "There's this giant audience of gamers who haven't been approached with the proper respect .....Oh, gee, so making a sucky comedy will bring gamers 'respect'? Right, okay.
Ravenbomb Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, Yuna! I'm about ready to turn of sigs.
razazteca Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I can't wait til it reruns on Cartoon Network [/sarcasm] MTV2 had a show like this but it was video game characters in music videos of current artist.
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, Yuna! I'm about ready to turn of sigs. That pertains to this topic of discussion.....how?
HarleyQuinn Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Wasn't MTV's "Spiderman" show in CGI?
MrRant Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, Yuna! I'm about ready to turn of sigs. I have. It's much nicer not scrolling down 3 pages worth of sigs when the entire thread is maybe half a page of actual... you know.... posting.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, Yuna! I'm about ready to turn of sigs. That pertains to this topic of discussion.....how? Because, UPN is going to make a crap show, and you have a crap sig. Seriously, it's disturbing. You need help. Or friends. One or the other.
Downhome Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, Yuna! I'm about ready to turn of sigs. That pertains to this topic of discussion.....how? Because, UPN is going to make a crap show, and you have a crap sig. Seriously, it's disturbing. You need help. Or friends. One or the other. I second this. I'll check out the show, just because I'm currious.
Ravenbomb Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I might give it a look. I liked Captain N. LOL @ Downhomes sig again
Guest El Satanico Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 This is nothing new. What was the name of that cartoon from a few years that was in CGI and had characters representing the inside of the computer. It wasn't too bad. It's still hilarious how so many of you guys freak out over TAME make believe male on male sexual encounters. I could understand if she put explicit sexual situations in her sigs, but she doesn't. I mean come on, it's a fake scene of two dudes kissing...grow the hell up people.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, Yuna! I'm about ready to turn of sigs. I have. It's much nicer not scrolling down 3 pages worth of sigs when the entire thread is maybe half a page of actual... you know.... posting. Ditto. If someone makes a comment about someone's sig, all I have to do is just click on that person's profile...
Downhome Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 What was the name of that cartoon from a few years that was in CGI and had characters representing the inside of the computer. It wasn't too bad. *marks out again* It was called Re-Boot, and I'd buy it on DVD if I could...I loved that freaking show.
Ravenbomb Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 yeah, I wish Cartoon Network still showed it
HarleyQuinn Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I remember when Fox or was it ABC? originally aired Re-Boot in it's saturday morning lineup(IIRC here), very cool show that was way ahead of it's time
Guest wrestlingbs Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 EGM magazine has already said they aren't going to make new episodes of this show. It's got "Stripperella" status, ie. cancelled before it's even aired. I've seen photos of the show, and trust me when I say it's going to set a new low for "bad primetime cartoons." And Yuna, it's not the mild homoeroticism I'm worried about, it's your rising and disturbing obsession with PotC/X-men.
Downhome Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Everyone, click here to read about it and to watch the trailer. I'm just about to do so myself.
DerangedHermit Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Well I have to say that does not sound like Rachel Dratch.
Masked Man of Mystery Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I think ADV has the rights to Reboot, so you might want to check and see if they released the DVDs. Some places(including the Best Buy I work at) put just about anything ADV in anime, and that has included Gamera, Yokai Monsters, and Mutant X.
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, Yuna! I'm about ready to turn of sigs. That pertains to this topic of discussion.....how? Because, UPN is going to make a crap show, and you have a crap sig. Seriously, it's disturbing. You need help. Or friends. One or the other. I have friends, thank you very much. And Yuna, it's not the mild homoeroticism I'm worried about, it's your rising and disturbing obsession with PotC/X-men. Obsession is fun, yo. And what you see in my sig isn't the only I'm obsessed with, ya know. Edward Scissorhands is my second all-time fave movie [X2 being first, PotC being third] and it's not in my sig...used to be, but not now. Am I obsessed with Edward-slash? Ugh..hell no. I just think the movie is sweet and very charming. It's still hilarious how so many of you guys freak out over TAME make believe male on male sexual encounters. I could understand if she put explicit sexual situations in her sigs, but she doesn't. I mean come on, it's a fake scene of two dudes kissing...grow the hell up people. It totally makes me chuckle anytime I see a 'change your sig/it's disgusting!' comment.
Ravenbomb Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 there's also the 'Toad blowing Nightcrawler' thing, don't forget about that
SamoaRowe Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Interesting concept that I cannot wait to see how UPN fucks this one up.
Karnage Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 UPN shows never last longer than a season.
The Metal Maniac Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Good to know I wasn't the only one who instantly thought of Re-Boot. And for the record, it was an ABC show, and I know that for a fact.
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 there's also the 'Toad blowing Nightcrawler' thing, don't forget about that He wasn't blowing him; not yet anyway. Just licking Kurt's stomach while Kurt was, umm...all tied up And, trust me, there's a really naughty Kurt-Todd pic that I could've added, but decided not to. Actually, two. One where they're all wrapped up for X-Mas and another where they're...well, gettin' it on R-rated style.
Mecha Mummy Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Moesha lasted a long time. And The Parkers. So, I guess a show has to suck to survive on UPN... *Remembers The Mullets.* Wait, maybe not. Well, anyway, if it's on their Monday night block of shitty sitcoms, it'll have a chance of making it more than one season. Everything else dies horribly, the only exceptions being Smackdown and Enterprise.
Karnage Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Good to know I wasn't the only one who instantly thought of Re-Boot. And for the record, it was an ABC show, and I know that for a fact. Its still on in Canada, and they sometimes show the Reboot movies once in a while.
