Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Finally got my hands on Dillinger Escape Plan's new album, Miss Machine. Absolute beast of a record and the new vocals pretty much destroys the original guy. He gets a little too caught up in "Let's see how much I can sound like Mike Patton on this part", but still probably the best album I've come across this year. Head Automatica's Decadence. Lead singer from Glassjaw's side project, his Mr. Bungle essentially. Dancey, fun, kinda goofy, catchy as hell, Brooklyn Is Burning is one of my favorite songs of the year, so yeah, I got my moneys worth.
ArkhamGlobe Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Today I picked up the following: CDs: The Band - s/t The Byrds - Turn! Turn! Turn! Amon Düül II - Tanz der Lemminge Vinyl: Pete Townshend - Empty Glass Ryuichi Sakamoto - Neo Geo Ryuichi Sakamoto - Beauty

ArkhamGlobe Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Neo Geo I thought was quite excellent. It's almost unbelievably catchy in it's poppier moments and rather beautiful in it's more quiet passages. Beauty is less poppy and more uneven, more of a world music fusion album. It's still really good, as there are some beautiful arrangements on there (for a reference point it sounds kind of similiar to the soundtrack to The Last Emperor at times), but I felt that Sakamoto's melodic sensibility got a better showing on Neo Geo.
PLAGIARISM! Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Barry Adamson - The King of Nothing hill Decent.
DCMaximo Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 In the last week... Also got the latest Jade Tree records sampler "Location Is Everything 2", mainly because I wanted to hear the OneLineDrawing cover of "Rapture" by Pedro The Lion
Guest macheteofodin Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 I picked up Hell's Pit, ICP's last Jokers Card. It doesn't touch The Great Milenko, but it isn't bad. Took a little getting used to but after a second listen it's much better. Too mellow though...especially for something called "Hell's Pit." Weed killed Violent J's intensity.
