You are what you is isn't a very good album. Probably the only Zappa record I've heard that I can definitely say I don't like. There aren't many I like more than Freak Out though.

Personally? I really enjoyed You Are What You Is. Although I could stand to go my whole life without hearing that Goblin Girl ever again.

I played Freak Out in a friend's car (because they dont have the good common sense to stop me) so they looked tormented, making the purchase all the more worth it.

Although the most listened to out of the seven is Converge's "You Fail Me." Just...shit. I feel bad for not hearing of them before.

Get Jane Doe and see them live once or twice. Unless you end up liking them a whole lot, as some people do. Then go more, I guess. Really fucking violent show, but it's that camaraderie kind of violent.

Anybody notice bits of that Saw score were pretty reminscent of Requiem for a Dream? I swear that's the best scored movie of all time.

henry mancini and 'touch of evil' own the ass of 'requiem'. the tinkly player piano, the beefy horns, the latin beats...that shit is sweaty and sleazy to the extreme.

Agreed. I rented the movie, bought the soundtrack, and then bought the movie. In that order.

And to think it's the guy from Pop Will Eat Itself.

I just picked up the Deluxe Editions of The Who's Tommy and Who's Next at a Flea Market CD place that was on clearance, they were marked 14.99 a piece. If I ever get an SACD player I can listen to Tommy in 5.1 surround sound.

I got Snoop Doggy Dogg's Doggystyle. It really is pretty damn good. I liked the retro funk grooves (I'm a sucker for a funky bass or a "wacachika" guitar) that were in every song on the album (That's G-Funk right?), and Snoop dropped some pretty dope rhymes. I think this will be the only Snoop album I'll own though, since I hear that his other albums aren't that great.
