godthedog 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 my new job doing data entry for 8 hours a day lets me listen to music while i work. while nice, this has meant i've had to expand my music collection a lot in the last couple of weeks to keep from getting bored. van morrison - 'astral weeks' van morrison - 'tupelo honey' cowboy junkies - 'early 21st century blues' neil young - 'rust never sleeps' neil young - 'everybody knows this is nowhere' otis redding - greatest hits echo and the bunnymen - 'ocean rain' mazzy star - 'she hangs brightly' i also took my girlfriend's kelly clarkson cd and listened to it twice today. i'm never doing that again, songs whose titles i can't even remember were stuck in my head for the rest of the night. Really into Sepultura lately, so I figured I'd stick to as much Max-era as possible since post-Max is just...lame. Darkest Hour - So Sedated, So Secure and Undoing Ruin Been on a big Darkest Hour kick lately, too. "Disciple" is the only song worth listening to more than once in a blue moon, with "Bloodline" and maybe "Payback" coming in at second and third respectively. Still better than that Diabolous bullshit. Hopefully Christ Illusions will be more like Divine Intervention and Seasons than this one was, since "Cult" sounds like it will be. Death - The Sound of Perseverance You know, I'm not that big of a Death fan, really. I picked this up after constant grating from my buddy Crawford over how I don't own any Death albums. A good listen, and technical as all hell, but really not my thing. I'm not too into the melodic death metal too much, no matter how technical it is, which definitely separates me from the crew I run with on a musical level since most of what they listen to is melodic death metal (and I'm stuck over here with my thrash and hardcore love). Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper Again, not a big fan of melodic death, but this album is worth getting if you're into metal at all. Alexi's guitarwork truly shines here, and it has what I feel is the best Bodom song to date - "Bodom After Midnight." Production is fabulous as it's not so overproduced it hurts and not underproduced to the point where you can't distinguish two notes from each other, and it's just worth a listen, basically. DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 "Ten Great Songs And An OK Voice" by Jimmy Nail Bought solely for his cover of "Once In A Lifetime" (which is much better than it should have been), features a few decent covers. Jimmy Nail singing "Walking On The Moon" in a swing style is weird on so many levels "The Original Electro Album" by Various Artists £4 from Asda. Lots of great stuff here by Ultravox, Simple Minds, Talk Talk etc, but Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me With Science" is absolutely fantastic and worth the purchase alone "Greatest Hits" by ZZ Top Another cheap Asda purchase. Obviously ace "Teen Dance Ordinance" by A Much, much better than "Hi-Fi Serious" and one of the few times a pop-rock band has grown up whilst still being fun. "Better Off With Him" is catchy as hell.
