Wow, that's sad. I'm assuming he was sick with something. At least our first death of the year is one of old and not young age...

RIP to an "authority figure" who actually took a back seat to the performers. There's a novel idea.

Do you think they'll acknowledge it? Or give it the Crash Holly treatment?

RIP Jack

Remember in WWF Magazine in 1994 they had pictures of DiBiase handing him money? Did an angle ever come from that?

I hate to hear this also, he was the kind of authority figure that I really enjoy. This just came out of nowhere, I haven't heard anything about the guy in years.

Thanks a lot Jack Tunney, President Tunney. :D

So fucking weird...

Last night I asked everyone in the room who was watching the Rumble where Jack Tunney was, and my friend said that he thought Jack was dead.

WHY AM I THE HARBINGER OF SORROW?

I have some many memories of this guy from childhood and how WWE(F) did such a great job of making it seem super important whenever Jack Tunney was going to speak. It is so oversaturated nowadays with the NEW type of authority angles/gimmicks. RIP Jack.

That's so sad. Last night at the Rumble, my brother and I were talking about Jack Tunney.

Best wishes to his family.

There goes my dream in Tunney coming back at Wm and Wrestling control away from Bischoff and Heyman

RIP Jack Tunney, loved seeing him book the matches when I was young as the WWF Figurehead and still remember the coin flip after the 94' Rumble quite distinctly because of the importance they gave it with Tunney getting involved.

I asked the same thing after watching RR 92 on my Flair DVD the other night.

A sad moment and the video package tonight will probably just be sadder.

May he enjoy his place as the President of the giant wrestling organization in the sky and make sure nothing goes wrong in the Owen/Perfect match for the title.

I never really thought much about Jack Tunney in my early days of watching but as the years went....and watching the overreliance on the authroity figures in wrestling.... I came to appreciate his and someone like Jim Crockett's on air role. They only usually came on for something important and made it mean more.

That sucks. :(

Honestly, he was the best figurehead because he was neither a heel or a face. They should get neutral GMs (who would be good for this?) and they report only to Linda McMahon (who would be neutral)

Someone like a Mike Tenay or Tony Schiavone, or even a Bobby Heenan, if he could pull it off w/o favoring the heels too much.
