This thread has probably been done a million times, but I was wondering if you guys agree or not with the results. Here's a few of my thoughts:

Thor vs. Captain Marvel: Technically Thor didn't beat Captain Marvel, he beat Billy Batson. It's be like Supes kicking the crap out of Bruce Banner, or Captain America fighting an unarmed Bruce Wayne. If Supes has beaten Thor, than Cap might be able to ( Has Cap beaten Superman before? Kingdom come doesn't really count).

Wolverine vs. Lobo: Even the Marvel people admitted that, while he'd have no chance in the polls, Lobo should win. Wolverine is one of my favorite heros but I thought that ( Elseworld losses to Batman, Hitman, etc. aside) Lobo would overwhelm him like The Hulk has done. Lobo has defeated Superman, Guy Gardner ( When his yellow ring ran out of power), and his entire planet, so I think he would win

I give more of my opinions later, Have a good next few hours

Captain Marvel would cream Thor, because Thor wouldn't be smart enough to attack him from a distance. In a hand to hand fight, NO ONE is as powerful as Captain Marvel, Superman included.

Lobo's main weakness is he ain't too bright. Wolverine's cunning would win out in a scrap between the two, and Lobo would go down.

I can buy Captain Marvel being able to beat Thor.

I'm still hot about Supes beating Thor, though. That's fucked up, and just another reason why Supes is one of my least favorite superheroes.

I wished they would have stretched it out...they could have held the 5 majors in 5 books and crammed the others into 2 or so...I don't like that each fight was just a couple of pages...it was a big event, they could have sold great that way.

Wolverine wouldn't even have a prayer.

I remember before they did Marvel vs. DC Wizard magazine had Wolverine vs. Lobo as their fantasy match.

They put it best:

"This fight would last about 6 seconds...and that's only if Wolverine could run really fast."

Superman vs Thor - didn't have a problem with Supes winning. Thor, while having been around for a long time (he's a god, after all) has too many vulnerabilities:

- He's not a strategic thinker. Thor's more of a "ground and pound" type of hero, if you will

- Thor is mortal. All Norse Gods are mortal, and Thor tends to forget that.

- Supes was worthy to hold the hammer. Not a good thing if your opponent can use your main weapon against you

Lobo vs Wolverine - Wolverine may have a healing factor, but Lobo's is better. Lobo, in fact, is pretty darn invulnerable. But Wolverine is very popular, so Lobo was basically the big fatass heel to Wolvie's Hogan in this matchup

Batman vs Captain America - This really could go either way, and I think Busiek's "confrontation" between the two basically spelled out how the fight would go - Batman would win if the fight was short, but over the long run, Cap would beat his ass silly.

Storm vs Wonder Woman - I really don't know about this one. Storm has always been portrayed as being one of the most powerful females in the Marvel U, while WW IS the most powerful female in the DCU. This really comes down to distance. A long range fight is to Storm's advantage, but a close in fight would be all Diana.

Don't remember who was in the last of the "Main Event" fights. Was it something like Spider-Reilly vs Superboy?

Posted

Supes fought Hulk...not Thor. And the last main event was Spidey vs Super Boy.

other fights

Thor over Ca Marvel

Flash over Quicksilver

Electra over Catwoman

Robin over Jubilie

Silver Surfer over Green Lantern

Aquaman over Namor...he made a whale fall on him...

Supes was worthy to hold the hammer.  Not a good thing if your opponent can use your main weapon against you.

When did he do that? I was not aware of that.

Didn't he grab it in JLA/Avengers? Well, anyways, since he's the ultimate Boy Scout, I'm assuming that he's worthy of lifting it.

I know jack all about this but it sounds very appealing.

Anywhere around cyberspace where I can find out everything that went down with it all??

I also need to know if this happened recently or did this happen during the Anagram/Zero Hour time period.

I need to own Lobo vs Wolverine.

Hmm...I'll have to check that out.

I do know that Woner Woman lifted it during Marvel vs. Dc.

You're looking for Marvel vs DC #3. You didn't really miss much though. The fight between the two lasted approximately 2 pages. They're both at a bar. They trade an insult or two, then they start fighting. They fall behind a counter, and a panel or two later Wolverine sits back up and picks up his stogie.

Probably, the worst fight in the whole series, but with limited page count it was pretty much the only way Wolverine could beat Lobo.

I know they had to do it, but when they let the fans vote on the 5 majors they kinda ruined it. It was all a popularity contest...cause Wonder Woman would of killed Storm

Definitely. I was suprised that was the outcome. I wouldn't say that Storm is more popular than WW.

I think the X-Men books outsell WW big time though.

I totally agree with you.

I just think that as stand alone character, WW is more popular.

Storm benefitted from Claremont's initial run on the X-books. One of his trademarks has always been strong, powerful women, which seems to make them all the more popular. To me, Wonder Woman is a pillar of DC continuity, but in the 90's, she frankly wasn't that interesting. Remember, this is the time frame where they actually REPLACED her with another Amazon.

Only reason Captain Marvel is dangerous in terms of hand-to-hand with Superman is because his powers are based on magic, and Supes is vulnerable to it.

Superman > Thor because Superman is smarter, and can lift Mjolnir (sp?).

Batman v. Captain America would always be a draw. Both men would fight dirty (especially Batman), but they would not go for the kill. In the end, Steve's character would restrain him (more noble) and Bruce's (somewhat sadistic, opportunistic) would give him a narrow advantage.

That is true. It's always made me wonder why DC treats WW so crappy.

I'd like to see the rubber match between SS and Kyle. The surfer won their Marvel vs. Dc fight, while Kyle beat him in their crossover ( Although Parralax had drained almost all of the surfers powers) Now that Kyle has learned a lot from his days as Ion, this would be an interesting fight

Surfer could beat Kyle, but I think he'd be killed by Parralax, who has beaten Kyle, Superman, Warrior, John Stewert ( The former Gl not the host of the daily show), Jim Corrigan's Spectre ( Zero hour), and a yellow-ringed Guy Gardner. ( Am I missing anyone?)

I just went to a comic book place for the first time in a while and picked up two Ultimate X-men graphic novels. In them, Wolverine beats and hospitalizes Iron Man, but loses to Captain America ( Who, with knowledge of Wolverine's healing factor shot him several times). In the next one he beats Cyclops by biding his time and out-smarting him, leaving him crippled for a few weeks ( Some would complain that it's not a win, but it was one on one, and cyclops was facing him when it happened, so it counts as a victory in my book), and then is knocked out by Cyclops in their rematch. Logan is almost exactly like Lobo, where in most situations, a win for him against another hero would likely mean the death of the other hero, but the fact that neither of them could die would make this a long fight. And doesn't Lobo have at least a few sidearms that are guns? If this fight was " First knock-out "rules I think that Lobo would win it handily.

Lobo is physically larger and more powerful than Wolverine. He could kill Wolvie, as he is infinitely more sadistic and evil. Plus, Lobo can't die where Wolvie's power makes it more difficult to kill him. Both heaven and hell don't want to deal with Lobo in the afterlife, so they granted him with flat out immortality.
