Â This DVD is worth the money just for the Goldberg/Hogan match and Flair's return alone, to me at least. I was at both events, and I've wanted both on DVD for the longest time. Everything else is just a bonus to me.

But I just wanted to say that the main feature is GREAT. They take both sides opinions and just go all out. Bischoff tells it all and there are many wrestlers perspectives. Also they give a lot of different footage. All in all, the extras are good but don't miss out on the main feature...

I bought the DVD today also, along with the new Foley DVD that came out a few weeks ago. I put the Monday Night Wars DVD in just because I wanted to check out the "Flair Returns" segment since it's one of my favorite moments of all time, but after I did that I thought that I'd just check out the first chapter of the main feature. Â Well, the first chapter came and went and before I knew it I had watched the entire main feature on the DVD, as well as just about all of the extras (I haven't watched the matches yet). Â It is without a doubt the greatest feature that I have ever seen WWE release. It covers so many of my favortie moments, comments from people that look and sound like they actually mean what they say, and the guys pull no punches, it all seems to be coming straight from the heart. Â It also, no NO way, takes sides. It tells the story of the entire "war", and it does not put WCW in a horrible light as they seem to always want to do. They admit when WCW did something right and when WWE did something wrong. It just feels perfect as you watch it. Sure they left out a few things here and there, but they can't freaking mention everything that went on throughout all of those years. Â To me, every wrestling fan should own this DVD. If you weren't a fan when the Monday night wars were going on, then you need to watch the DVD just to learn a thing or to about the history of the WWE/WCW conflict. So go out and pick it up, I can't see any way that any wrestling fan could be disappointed. Â Well, I take that back. I am disappointed over one thing. While watching it, I remembered just how great wrestling was at one time. I remember the feeling of "anything can happen" for both RAW and Nitro. It took me back to the days where when one talent jumped ship you were really shocked and it meant something. It reminded me of the competition and how much both shows acted as if they really wanted to top the other one over and over again. In the end though, it once again told me how much that I loved WCW, how much I loved the wrestling scene back then, and damnit...it reminded me once again just how much that WWE needs come competition once again. Â Two big thumbs up from me.

JoeDirt Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Just watched the Monday Night Wars DVD. Haven't watched the extras yet. Â Really well done, interesting stuff. It wasn't slanted as badly as I thought it was, and you get some really interesting, honest, heartfelt comments. Â It still does have a WWE slant to it though in some aspects: For example, Vince Russo, a guy who doesn't work for WWE _now_, really gets shit on. I found it interesting that they only mention Russo twice, with Flair talking about how much of a joke he is. Â Some really interesting stuff on here though. Flair talks about his _hate_ for Bischoff. They talk about the stuff from the Foley book with him winning the title. You hear from Eddy Guerrero how boring WCW shows got because it was always all about the nWo. A lot of real feeling from guys like Jericho, Eddy, Benoit, Flair. Cool stuff. Â The really scary thing is the parallel to today that they don't even realize! JR goes off about how WCW kept the same guys at the top without elevating talent. They talk about how the WWE was elevating guys like Edge, Christian, and the Hardys. While the WWE isn't as bad now as WCW was (as they're elevating guys like Orton, Cena, Eddy, etc), there are a lot of similarities. They talk about how Steve Austin didn't get a chance in WCW because no one wanted to give up their top spot - it's really interesting that they can see all these faults in WCW, but none in their current product. Â An interesting DVD - worth checking out.

In WCW, like the DVD says and it's basicly true, only one "new" guy really got a major shot and a serious push, and that was Goldberg. Â By the time guys like Benoit, Steiner, and Booker T were given a shot, the company was already dead and had no hope to continue on.
JoeDirt Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 And just to add on: Â The first half hour is all about WCW and the beginnings of Nitro, Luger coming on the first show, Hall and Nash, and the Hogan heel turn. Â The next 20-25 minutes are all about RAW - we see a quick clip of the Austin/Hart WM13 match and people starting to rally behind Austin. They don't really show much of WWF from 95-97, and really start with the Austin/Tyson stuff of early 98. They then talk about the back and forth wars (Bischoff's challenge to Vince, DX going to Atlanta, Foley winning the title, Goldberg beating Hogan, etc), and then quickly mention Bischoff losing his job and Russo and Ferrara coming in. They show Ferrara's "Oklahoma" impression of JR and show a quick clip of Russo talking about bullshit politics at Bash at the Beach 2000. They talk about the decline of WCW, and then the final Nitro. Â Those are the basics of the main program. Wish they had put on more extras!!!

True, and WWE doesn't have the WCW problem of "every show being the same" like Eddy Guerrero said.  That said, they even said that the competition brought out the best in the WWF/WWE product...well...what about now?
