You, my friend, have never seen AWK live.

Whatever you think of his music (which rules, duh), the man puts on the ultimate show. $30 is a bit steep though - I've seen him in a club for $10, and I think that environment lends itself to the experience a bit better.

Reliant K, however, is mortally bad. I saw them open for Billy Idol, which was...really weird. The twelve-year old girls were there for them, the 40-year old men for Billy. I think a lot of 40-year old men went home with love on their minds that night.

And I never will either...you know how many other exciting(and Im noit denying he prolly puts on a great show, everyone says he does so Ill believe it) bands and artists I would rather see in bars/clubs/parties for under 10$? ALOT....and I prolly wont have to see many MTV dork kids there either.

Just my opinion...and for energetic music - Local H trumps AWK.

edit- Thats not meant to say that I think your an 'MTV dork'.

Excluding Local H and Andrew WK, there's not a single decent band on that lineup.

Boy Sets Fire. Coheed and Cambria. Lucky Boys Confusion. Less Than Jake. Yellowcard. Sparta.

Don't you wish you were me?

No.

Ditto.

I also never understood the mentality that even if one thinks a band sucks that "THEY RULE LIVE~!". If I can't stand their music normally, what makes you think I'll appreciate them delving deeper into their own shit? Not bloody likely.

You couldn't pay me to go to that show, and I'm surprised at the AWK love on this board.

Reliant K; aren't they a Christian punk band? I remember someone telling me that. Don't know for sure though, it would be interesting to me anyway.

Yeah, they are a Christian punk band. Which is a little bit strange. That lineup sounds pretty "Look at me I'm different" to me...and I don't know why ANYONE in their right mind would want to see or listen to Yellowcard.

Actually, I'd use the "they rule live" line to describe Sevendust. I can't stand the band, but live? Entirely different deal. Their music is the most generic of modern hard rock, but those guys are NUTS live. Pure energy, man. Lajon has the crowd eating out of his tiny hand before he even says a single word, and the guitarists are jumping all over the place. You'd think they'd suck because they're tools and all, but are actually quite fun.

I'll take a prime example of this, and the metal heads of the likes of Corey, AoO, Thumbtack, and well others will again question my metalheadness

Remember seeing Motorhead, Dio, and Maiden last year, I was pissed that Dio was not the opening act. After Motorhead left the stage with my ears hurting more than ever, Dio came to the stage, and it didn't help that he's 5' and a tall idiot infront of me, (which later passed out before Maiden hit the stage) I thought it was gonna suck.

Truth be Told, Dio was fuckin amazing. Simply amazing, i' mean not to Iron Maiden extent, but I thought Dio was better than Motorhead

*what Corey will say after reading this post

(Corey: Thall shall give you King of Power Metal status and give to Metal Maniac ;) )

Well I like Brand New's "Quiet Things THat No One Ever Knows" song, it's in NHL 2004. Something Corporate has some great songs out. I like Motion City Soundtrack. And I actually saw Lucky Boys Confusion when they were playing at Gameworks in Schaumburg, before they ever hit it big.

I didnt know they had even hit it big yet...theyre still playing my fave tiny local club regularly. Are they pretty popular outside of Wisconsin/Midwest?

Didn't see Sparta. They're okay. The rest suck.

My friend saw Sparta, and leading up to their concert, he swore by them.

After he saw them, he never mentioned them again and said it was the worst concert ever.

I saw Sparta open for Weezer. They were all right, and that's about it. Felt kinda hopelessly dull. It didn't really help that the crowd wasn't exactly skewed their way, but they were pretty unimpressive any way you look at it.

I saw Sevendust once. They were pretty fun.

My "they rule live but are nothing special otherwise" band: Soulfly. I can't stand their last two albums at all, but they get better every time I see them.

Yeah. Soulfly is pretty good live. Can't hear a damn thing they're playing as it's all one big "OOMFOOMF" from the bass, and you can hear Max go "RAHHH!" now and then, but that's about it. Insane fans, though. Pretty much the entire Portuguese population in Massachusetts turned up for them in the H8 2002 Tour (Slayer headlined, also featured In Flames). This one hot chick kept crowdsurfing and getting her tits slammed in my face. Mmmmmmm...tiiiiiits.....

So many good bands... soooooooo many....

At least I have the Warped Tour to look forward to. I haven't gone since 2001. I need to see if there are any good, affordable shows coming up soon in Anaheim, Long Beach, or LA.

Oh, and I can also vouch for Sevendust's live awesomeness. They headlined the Locobazooka Tour 2002- at least the show I went to, which was in Biloxi, MS, and sponsored by local radio station WCPR- and kicked copious quantities of ass.
