Serial Killers

Recommended Posts

Guest FrigidSoul

I watched a two hour program on MSNBC last night that detailed the lives of John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dhamer, Ted Bundy, and more. Major thing I noticed is criminal psychologists saying that in order to get to understand these people they need to place them in therapy and study them...but then the courts go off and give all the serial killers the dealth penalty.

So what the fuck? Is it just the judges giving into what society wants and what their emotions are telling them to do, or is the justice system too fucking ignorant to realise that killing them eliminates the ability to study them, and figure what the fuck is wrong with them? I mean by not killing them off right away you can actually learn what turns somebody into something like that and prevent further cases.

Now I know Jeffrey Dhamer's case is different as he was killed in prison, but you would think that they would have been smarter than leaving the man be in gen pop.

say 15 years down the road another person does the shit Dhamer did. We had the chance to interview him and get into his mind, instead we placed him in a situation where we knew he would be killed. Now we don't know how to prevent such cases. Dhamer by no means had a bad childhood...so what drove him to do what he did? We'll never know now.

we don't study them to the full capabilities though. We study what they did and what their childhood/past was. We should be sitting them down for intensive therapy every day, recording these sessions, and then send them back to an isolated prison cell. There's no way they'll enjoy their life so them staying alive isn't letting them off the hook.

From what I've seen they got two sit down interviews with Dhamer explaining that as a child he started off killing small animals and slowly progressed because of his facination with the inner workings of living creatures. What made him like that though, where did it start, how do we make it so people avoid getting like that? We won't know now.

They think Bundy killed all those women because they resembled a girl whom he loved but continuously rejected him. If that's the case though and somebody chooses the path of murder they kill that woman. So was this the real reason? If not what drove him to really commit those murders?

This is why you need to keep them alive and study them. We learn from our past but in this case we're disposing of these issues before we can truly learn from them.

What do you do if they lie to you?

quite a few will be co-operative in the therapy and breakdown of things. Dahmer was willing to do all of that as he hated himself and wanted to understand why he did the type of things he did. Gacy was cooperative to a point.

However for those that would lie they have machines where you hook up the circle patches to the temples, and then all that other stuff too. It monitors the brain waves and everything to show when the individual is lying.

In any event you aren't going to go right up to them and say "Ok, tell us why you killed them and what makes you tick" because they don't know themselves for the most part. You have to circle them with other questions that can lead into a profile and figure out their way of thinking. Its very much like breaking down a disease in order to come up with a vaccine.

And oh yeah, Charles Manson is the most over-rated killer ever.

He isn't. He was at the right place at the right time. A hippy love/murder cult preying on the rich and famous at the command of their gibberish spewing, Beatle worshiping, guitar playing Messiah, during the summer of love? Beautiful.

I believe Manson never actually killed anybody either. He just had everybody else do it for him.

Albert Fish? Wasn't he the one that ate children? The old guy.

So you think there is a way to cure murderers?

What fantasyland do you live in ?

By tracking their sociological tendencies, I think people think they can catch - and possibly - treat their behaviour. But a cure? No-siree. Maybe if we all lived Pleasantville lives where nothing remotely traumatizing happened to scar one's perception of themselves or life around them - then maybe that COULD be a cure. But Pleasantville is a fantasyland, so huzzah.

Manson is all shock value. Give me Ted Bundy. That motherfucker was smooth, intelligent, charming, and good looking. He totally didn't fit the protocall of a serial killer. Although he clearly did it, his demeanor made it seem impossible that he did it. He just had too much going for him.

He wasn't convicted (or charged, I believe) with any murders, although some would say he had a few under his belt.

I don't live in a Fantasy Land as I don't believe there is a way to cure a serial killer. Once they've gone over that line they have an addiction to blood lust and the only thing that can cure it is through killing by the means they deem nessecary.

I do however feel we can learn what makes them do this to prevent others from hitting that route. If there are serial killings going on we could use the knowledge to profile the killer much faster and possibly prevent further killings.

How long would a serial killer gimmick last?

You would have to have mod powers and randomly ban people, thus killing them for it to work.

Same with Jeffrey Dhamer too actually. Fairly good looking young man, quiet in a way that didn't attract attention upon himself, and smart enough where you could place him in the middle of most college discussion groups and he could hold his own.

He would have killed several others had his last victim not escaped long enough to stumble around the street corner naked. How the cops could bring the guy back to Dhamer's when he had a hole drilled in his head and believe the kid was just drunk is beyond me.

Another thing is Dhamer's parents had dinner at Jeffrey's the night before his last murder. Still unknown whether or not he fed human flesh to them, but it appeared as though he respected and loved his parents enough not to do that. He also felt by eating his victims they would always be a part of him, thus why he did it...so while the rumors persist he may have fed his parents human meat I have to believe he didn't.

Since it's always the one you least expect...

I'd peg Zach for it

Bundy was slick, but he doesn't have that myth aura about him, even though he his reputation is legendary. If I was to compare it to the blues, Manson is Robert Johnson and Ted Bundy would be like, John Lee Hooker or somebody.

Not that he's the top guy, personally I'd say that's Ed Gein. Never somebody blurred the line between monster and folk hero like Ed.

edit: Jeff Dahmer was gay. You'll find the root of what he did there.

Bundy lost most of hi aura when it was revealed how fucking scared shitless he was of dying. Funny thing is the last victim he got sentenced to death for may not have been a victim of his. She didn't fit the M.O. and serial killers rarely, if ever branch off and kill differently.

13 year old girl

Blonde hair

All of Bundy's other victims were College aged women who were brunettes. I don't believe the 13 year old girl suffered any vaginal or anal trauma too which was a major Bundy calling card. She was just strangled and a girl that was in the area Bundy was at the time.

Only serial killer to have inspired 3 movies.

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho(Norman Bates' extreme love and facination of his mother)

Texas Chain Saw Massacre(Mutilation of Victims was the way Gein did so)

Silence of the Lambs(Buffalo Bill's woman suit was inspired by the carved out remains of a woman which hung in Gein's storage shed I believe)

He was a sick fuck...just behind him was the Russian serial killer that I believed went by the name Mr. X
