Zetterberg is God Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 http://www.wwe.com/news/headlines/1256373 Well, at least Pete Rose is in one Hall of Fame.
cbacon Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 http://www.wwe.com/news/headlines/1256373 *rubs eyes* Pete Rose is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Did I read that right?
ChrisMWaters Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Heenan AND Ventura make it. Imagine a commentary team with the two of them. If Monsoon was on it at well, he'd never get a word in edge wise.
Guest Choken One Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Ah, another shameless act from Vinny Mac and Co.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Honestly, and this isn't a complaint but why would Harley Race make the WWE Hall of Fame? For his unforgettable king gimmick? I mean the guy held the NWA more times than anyone but Flair, but c'mon WWE Hall of Fame? Too bad Vince fucked over Race and lied to him at the end of his career about making him a road agent, but I guess old Harley forgave Vinnie Mac.......
Guest Choken One Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 You silly billy. WWE means ALL WRESTLING history. Everything you saw in NWA…it was really WWE’s doing.
dubq Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Pete Rose? WTF? Because he took a few chokeslams? Lame. Well, I'm glad to see Heenan made it at least.
Guest wrestlingbs Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 It would be different if these awards actually meant something. But right now they're no different than the Slammies. I guess Pete Rose was inducted because it's kinda hard to bet on a predetermined sport.
Guest Choken One Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 its a freaking Public relations gig...truly Pete Rose brags about being in a HOF…gets Choke slammed by Kane…AGAIN. PTI and ATH will show it…make fun of WWE but hey bad publicity is GOOD publicity according to the WWE Memo.
Fökai Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Get over it, man...when was the last time ANY wrestling promotion looked good in the public's eyes? Even in a small role, Urlacher was criticized for his performance in TNA, which was just a month or two ago. Basically, it's just better to give yourself free publicity by inducting Pete Rose and making a joke out of the situation. You silly billy. WWE means ALL WRESTLING history. Everything you saw in NWA…it was really WWE’s doing. Or that they own WCW's history, which accounts for the main portion of NWA's history. They can do ANYTHING they want with it...hence the Flair DVD, or any video packages that date back to NWA and WCW.
Guest Choken One Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Get over it, man...when was the last time ANY wrestling promotion looked good in the public's eyes? The last instance of the media shitting over something would be Urlacher and his appearance for TNA (which was just a month or two ago). It's better to give yourself free publicity by inducting Pete Rose and making a joke out of the situation. When WWE personally donated $1 million to the City of NYC and closed the WORLD for WTC relief for a good week, donated food and clothing... Having a HUGE splash on the Market when it become public...
Guest thebigjig Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I wouldnt have a problem with a publicity stunt like this if the ceremony WASNT being set up just to see Pete Rose tombstoned by Kane... it kind of cheapens the mood they were trying to create, and it makes real wrestling legends like Race and Graham seem overshaddowed... making a joke out of the whole thing in the process It's like inducting Hulk Hogan into the baseball hall of fame because he pitched the opening ball a few years ago
Fökai Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 When WWE personally donated $1 million to the City of NYC and closed the WORLD for WTC relief for a good week, donated food and clothing... Extremely horrible circumstances - leave it be. And anyway, the media failed to notice this act, which shows a lot about their slanted views towards wrestling. Having a HUGE splash on the Market when it become public... The IPO was never taken seriously...EVER. The media chalks up the WWE's current "creative and financial hole" to going public back in 1999, giving McMahon the idea to start up his own football league.
Slickster Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Ventura Slaughter Muraco Valentine Santana Heenan Graham Race Studd JYD Pete Rose
Styles Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 It's like inducting Hulk Hogan into the baseball hall of fame because he pitched the opening ball a few years ago Oh PUH-LEEZE. To even compare the Baseball hall of fame to WWE's hall of fame is a joke in it self. The whole thing is MEANINGLESS, the thing has been dormant for years and all the "inductees" are political. Its just a showcase. I think it's tremendous that Pete Rose will finally be back at Wrestlemania because he consistently was entertaining whenever he showed up to get his revenge on Kane.
Slickster Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 This is the best PR move WWE could make to make people care about the HOF. Fark's reporting on it, ESPN's got a story on it....and without adding Rose, most WRESTLING fans wouldn't have given a damn about the HOF inductions. EDIT: They should add in a video package explaining that all members of the WCW Hall of Fame are part of the WWE HOF as well. That way, they won't have to re-induct Solie, Thesz, Funk, et al. Fun fact: Harley Race will become the second man to be inducted into both the WCW and WWE Halls of Fame, the first being Ernie Ladd.
Guest Frank_Nabbit Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I like how they mix Kayfabe and real life in Sarge's description.... 1st he was a real drill sargent, but later he only "played" an Iraqi symphisizer(Sp?) ...funny
snuffbox Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 EDIT: They should add in a video package explaining that all members of the WCW Hall of Fame are part of the WWE HOF as well. That way, they won't have to re-induct Solie, Thesz, Funk, et al. Thats a pretty good idea = it wont happen.
JHawk Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Fun fact: Harley Race will become the second man to be inducted into both the WCW and WWE Halls of Fame, the first being Ernie Ladd. Big John Studd would also be inducted into both Halls now as well. The main problem with these inductions as fans who aren't aware that Bruno Sammartino turned the induction down won't buy the WWE Hall as legit until Bruno's in it.

Harley Race spent most of his career in the Central States territory of the NWA. McMahon does not own that video library. Again, nothing against Harley Race but I might have put Ricky Steamboat in front of him because he had more of a career in WWE and JCP. But I would also prefer that the WWE change the name to the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame and make an actual museum, since they are the only major wrestling promotion in the United States.

Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 You silly billy. WWE means ALL WRESTLING history. Everything you saw in NWA…it was really WWE’s doing. How about AWA and USWA??Is TNA included in this too?
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 In another note i can't wait for Liberace and Ozzy to be inducted next year into the WWE hall of shame.... i mean fame.
Jobber of the Week Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 You really gotta wonder how prestigious your "Hall Of Fame" really is when you actually have to pay Pete Rose money to make him want to be inducted in it.

Drury37 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 AREBA!!! Yes my friends Tito Santana is a WWE Hall of Fame and now I can die in peace. Thanks.

As someone at Fark pointed out, Clinton was paid to appear at his induction at the Civil Rights Museum.

I wasnt comparing the two hall of fames... I was comparing the circumstances... I think the legends ceremony should mean something. It should be a true tribute to the stars of the past, and instead, the whole thing is going to be set up with a pete rose punchline
JustJoe2k5 Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 The BIG question is what mascot Pete Rose will dress up as this time.
