The 2004 Stanley Cup Playoffs thread

Recommended Posts

What a situation I have found myself in. I havent missed the cup being presented since The Penguins won the first time, and I havent missed Raw for like 10 years, which staggers my mind seeing all of the crap thats happened over the years. So it looks like I have a decision to make. Raw or game 7.

Or maybe I can just stay up until 3:30 to watch Raw when it comes on at 1:30.

Any chance to be able to see Hulk Hogan take his shirt off is good enough for me!

Seriously though, I think we get another 1-0 finish tomorrow.

I'll wait until St. Louis or Iginla is skating around with the Cup to make my prediction of who wins. :D

Hmm thats a great idea, I think I'll do that as well....though I'll still root for the Flames. :D

If TB wins tonight, the people in Calgary will freak out ... that disallowed goal WAS a goal, and should have won them the Cup. After the goal/no goal debacle of Hull's Cup-winner a few years ago, it'd be horrible to have another Cup won by questionable circumstances. Of course, I'm not going to agree when people say it's an anti-Canadian conspiracy ... I don't think the league will be any more happy having the Cup won by the Lightning than they would if it was won by Calgary.

Who do you all think wins the Conn Smythe? Personally, I'd give it to Richards regardless of who wins tonight. The guy's just had so many game winners, it'd be tough not to give it to him.

Iginla if Calgary wins. He's been consistant, and has always been there when the pressure rises.

Richards if Tampa wins, as his game winners gets it alone, and he's been one of their only consistant forwards.

Nl5 as much as I hate to do it I have to agree on the Gelinas play, the thing is the puck went in and out so fast that I dont think the refs caught it. With that said, Calgary had plenty of oppurtunities to win the game in OT so that shouldnt be used as an excuse. As far as the Conn Smythe goes its Brad Richards no question for the Bolts if the Flames win I gotta give it to Iginla.

This will not be as controversial anyway. Calgary's "no goal" did not lose them the Cup, like in 1999. They had the rest of regulation, OT and tonight's game. It is a tough break, but I hope ONLY the fans & media are worried about it and not the players and coaches, they can win tonight.

I hope Calgary wins, but really no team is "evil" in my book, but then again my book is mostly pictures so I'll be alright if either team wins.

Calgary's no goal was no goal. Even if it had been reviewed, it would be no goal. Only the skewed side angle showed the puck in mid-air and it wasn't conclusive. No goal.

On a side note, I hate this "Red Mile" nonsense. It is 17th Ave, not the Red Mile. I hate that nickname and it has only appeared in the last few days and already that is its permanent name. 17th Ave > Red Mile.

I'm waiting for the "Green Mile" movie people to sue whoever came up with Red Mile or the city of Calgary should they make that 17th Ave's permenent name.

I don't know why, but I keep expecting it.

I've been crunching numbers all day to see if there's enough alcohol in Canada to accomodate for Calgary winning the Stanley Cup tonight.

I haven't been this amped for a hockey game in a long time.

Anyone else see the sign "Any excuses tonight Darryl?"

I'm watching ABC to start, for the record, and their video package to start is so much better than CBC's R-E-S-P-E-C-T video. CBC will never recover from that.

I'm not getting excited about anything yet, however Khabby has looked sharp with his limited work and Kiprusoff on the other hand has looked shaky.

I'd be more concerned about there being enough bullets in Canada if Tampa wins the Cup.

I don't really want Tampa (I'd like Calgary to win) to win but entertainment wise it would be fun.

I can't believe it either.

And in two days, Tampa will go back to normal and didn't even know they won something that important.

Looks like the Flames are in the middle of choking right before our eyes.

Will, should we explain again to redbaron the fanbase that has always been around in Tampa or is it worth our time?

I'd say no, being that Tampa Bay is one period away from winning the Stanley Cup and all, I'd rather waste my energy on celebrating Tampa's victory should they hold on to win. Besides, Tampa swept out redbaron's team in the second round as it is. That's victory enough for me. :D

Tampa as well as any team will get a large fanbase as long as they keep winning, like they have been the last few years. Every teams fan base has to start somewhere.
