MrRant 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 In this field office in Washington, 32 prosecutors, investigators and a handful of FBI agents are spending millions of dollars to bring anti-obscenity cases to courthouses across the country for the first time in 10 years. Nothing is off limits, they warn, even soft-core cable programs such as HBO's long-running Real Sex or the adult movies widely offered in rooms of major hotel chains http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nationwor...-home-headlines Isn't there other things that Ashcroft can do outside of worrying what people are jacking it too? LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2004 Ok. Isn't there a big thing in the States about unemployment? Isn't the porn industry one of the only industries that is booming in the US? Harrassing the porn industry is only going to cause even more jobs to leave the US. If there's one thing that shouldn't be outsourced, it's pornography. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2004 Fucking religious right. These are the kind of push-their-morality-on-you people who are in bed with George Bush. (Kerry should start using this "vote for Bush, and you will lose your porn!" He'd win in a landslide!) Ashcroft, a religious man who does not drink alcohol or caffeine, smoke, gamble or dance, and has fought unrelenting criticism that he has trod roughshod on civil liberties in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, is taking on the porn industry at a time when many experts say Americans are wary about government intrusion into their lives. The Bush administration is eager to shore up its conservative base with this issue. Ashcroft held private meetings with conservative groups a year and a half ago to assure them that anti-porn efforts are a priority. read that first line. He's deciding what we can and cannot watch, and what is obscene. THE GUY PROBABLY THINKS showing someone downing a beer to unwind is "obscene"

Yes, but he still was elected twice for gov ('84 and '88) and then elected to one term as senator before losing to said dead guy
Styles 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2004 Ridiculous. I'm not condemning the whole adminsitration (especially for their actions on the war on terror which I do support) but this is just a waste of resources. I think it's time Bush kicked Ashcroft to the curb. Perhaps a restructuring is needed. And Cheney and Rice should switch places. Let Cheney work in the background as an advisor which is what he is anyway, and let Condi come to a more high profile position which would make history in 2 ways, and gain Bush more support on his ticket. Don't know if it will happen though. Oh and thanks Janet for starting this whole thing, hope you get a few more record sales out of it. Bitch.
