It seems that Joe Dumars has possessed the body of Lindsay Hunter tonight.

Screw This. I just turned off the T.V. The Lakers are gonna get blown the FUCK out. I guess they're phoning it in again.

Or the Pistons are just smothering them with good defense and great offense and the Lakers aren't a good enough team or simply lack the heart to come back. The Lakers are a great team, but they can collapse like a house of cards when the going gets tough.

Under 4 minutes in the 4th with 62 points scored and a Lakers fan blames it solely on the Lakers phoning it in? Well this is why people dislike Lakers fans.

Bryon Scott just put it best, " This has nothing to do with the Lakers, this was great Detroit Pistons defense". I mean the Lakers role players are not a threat. Kobe is basically getting triple teamed and Shaq is getting all the points. One does not beat five.

And that's from an ex-Lakers player who no doubt still has strong connections with the franchise.

I would like to ask all fellow Laker fans to just shut the fuck up and acknowledge we got whipped.

Is anyone else reminded of the Tampa Bay-Oakland Super Bowl a few years back? Oakland was a dominant team with veterans and a great offense, VASTLY overrated. Tampa Bay came up and shut all the great teams in their conference down with an intimidating defense and just enough on offense to get the wins. Everyone picks Oakland, noone thinks Tampa Bay has a chance, and the young Bucs end up blowing out the Raiders, holding off a miracle comeback and exposing the veterans as being old not experienced.

This is exactly like that, though stretched over a series.

Anyone who doesn't think this series could possibly end up with the first home sweep of in NBA Finals History is not being realistic. Or a Laker fan. Take your pick.

LA, it's time to pray. But I'm not giving up quite yet...

I remember reading early early in the playoffs in the Sporting News how LA was going to get beat by Houston. HOUSTON, of all teams. When they beat San Antonio, that's when everyone jumped on the Laker bandwagon.

People are idiots.

Boy, those Lakers. Do they have a flair for the dramatic or what? Their last title together and they want it to go the full seven. As fans, we're lucky to get watch those kind of World Champions.

You're making me dizzy.

The Lakers aren't winning this series. They aren't hungry...hell, they don't even care and are an embarassment to basketball, especially tonight.

Detroit has dominated LA in 11 1/2 of the 12 quarters played in this series. That won't change.

Pistons in 5.

"This has nothing to do with the Lakers, this was great Detroit Pistons defense"

Damn fucking straight. I don't want to hear any bullshit about the Lakers just "deciding" not to win.

Still I thik LA will take one of the next two. but not both. then Det will have to win in LA in game 6.

Stolen phrase from Byron Scott, you should give Byron Scott before stealing his thoughts.

It's like I said I think if LA can show for at least ONE game that they aren't inferior to Detroit the whole game through then maybe they have a shot. They didn't even try tonight. *sigh*

The quote in my sig remains because I have hope. And because I deserve it for being a fan of this team.

This is like the Nick Van Exel days.

Yeah, until they lose, and you take every reference to them outta your sig, and when Favre retires, the Packers will be gone too, and when the Marlins fail to retain their championship this year, they'll be gone, and you'll replace them with The Vikings, The Kings, and The Phillies, and you'll never bat an eye.

I don't know anything about the Avalanche.

If the Lakers somehow do manage to pull of a miracle and win the series, this is how I see it happening.

Game 4: Pistons 86, Lakers 72

Pistons lead series 3-1

Game 5: Lakers are down by 10 points with 5 minutes to go. However, in a play reminiscent of Game 2, Kobe has the ball, with the Lakers down by 2, with 4 seconds to go. Rip and Chauncey corner Kobe at halfcourt, as the fans are going absolutely delirious, knowing the championship is imminent. Kobe shoots an off balanced three 48 feet from the basket...AND IT GOES IN AT THE BUZZER. Lakers win 85,84.

Game 6: Lakers win 92, 86

Game 7: Lakers win 100, 87

But...I doubt it. Realistically speaking my fellow holmes, the Lakers are going down. They are confused, unmotivated, and don't deserve to play on this stage. Pistons in FIVE. Brown will continue to outcoach Jackson, as a Fat Shaq and overrated Kobe will be helpless to do anything against Detroit's stifling defense.

Quit saying The Lakers are unmotivated. They are motivated. They just AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH to beat Detroit! Detroit is just flat out better than LA. I wonder how ANYONE can deny this. They beat up on them in Game 1. Kept it close in Game 2. And then just absolutely demolished them in Game 3. I don't want to declare it over until Detroit wins one more like this though.

Oh I went back to the sports bar to watch it tonight. Good night all around.

If you look at the stats, you'll see that the Lakers and Pistons shot a similar shooting percentage. The difference in this game was effort. Detroit drove to the basket...in other words, they were aggressive and got 19 more free throw attempts, if I'm not mistaken. Detroit also won all of the hustle plays -- getting offensive rebounds, not quitting on broken plays, etc. Being aggressive, driving to the basket, and hustling on the court like it's your last game requires EFFORT. That was the difference. L.A. underestimated this team, and drowned in their vanity and overconfidence. Still, if the Lakers are to win this series, they won't start playing like they actually care until they lose Game 4.

Even Shaq and Rick Fox admitted that Detroit played with more effort in the post game interviews.

Some folks are changing their tunes, eh ?

I had the Pistons in 7, so we'll see.

Jordan was overrated. He was on a good defensive team where everyone knew their role, and he made some clutch shots. At Kobe's age, Jordan didn't even have one ring yet.

You can't be serious.

Jordan also didn't have the Shaq-Mobile to ride on since rookie year.

The Bulls never had "big time" (Is there such a thing? With the exception of Scottie Pippen) stars on the team. They had hard-working, role players who got the job done. Guys like Paxton, Kerr, Kukoc, Harper, BJ, Longley, Hodges, etc... weren't "big time" but when the game was on the line, they got it done.

Orale, have you ever considered competing for the nomination of the Democratic Party? It's got you written allllllllll over it, bud

No, no, no. We don't want him, why don't you keep him.

Detroit's defense continues to impress me. The Lakers showed no heart or hustle on the court tonight and the Pistons just ran them over. I want to see the look on Karl Malone's face if they don't win the championship.

If there's ANY of those teams I'm most likely to never let up support for it's Green Bay. I've been a cheesehead since I knew anything about football and that was before Favre.

THE VIKINGS?! THE MOTHERFUCKING VIKINGS?! THE KINGS?! Please dude at least pick some better teams, not the complete opposite of who I like. I don't know anything about the Phillies, nor do I really much care since I have only a very casual interest in baseball.

I think the Lakers' luck is about to run out.

In Game 1 of the first round, Kobe airballs a three; however, Shaq luckily grabs it and dunks it for the game-winning basket.

In Game 5 of the semifinals...Fisher hits THE shot.

In Game 1 of the West Finals, the Lakers benefit from a weary Timberwolves team; not to mention, injured point guards, Cassell and Hudson.

In Game 6 of the West Finals, Rush makes 6/7 three pointers, in what was an aberration by a mediocre player.

In Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Kobe makes the game-tying three to send it to overtime.

Something tells me...the mystical Laker luck is going to run out. It's only a matter of time...tick tock...tick tock...tick tock.

The T-Wolves were weary the whole series, so I wouldn't really count Game 1 as one.

We've already used all our lucky shots, one for each round of the playoffs. Now we need to beat a team based on skill...

...I hope the refs start calling things in our favor. CHEAT TO WIN~!
