Saved By The Bell Questions That You Asked

Let's see... Bianca (Lisa), Weasel (Screech), Scott (Zack), Tommy D (Slater), Natalia Ciglutti's character (Kelly) and Vicky Needleman (N/A)

As far as Bianca goes I always considered her a mix of Lisa and Jesse. The Lisa part is because Bianca was the black female of the group like Lisa. But, unlike Lisa she wasn't into fashion she was more into getting good grades and was always worrying about not making an A just like Jesse.

Now as for Vicky she was like Jesse because Vicky was always worried about the saving the planet, making sure that something wasn't hurting the animals. Kinda of like Jessie but, turned down a few notches.

Now that I think of it Bianca was the actor's name. But anyways she's more like the Lisa during the Tori eps, where they actually spent some time developing the character.

Vicky was kind of a goofy, bubbly chick. The closest analogue I can come up with is Steph on California Dreams (idealism) crossed with Kimmi from Full House (weirdness)...

Megan Jones was the character name. Bianca Lawson is the actress. I believe she was on Buffy, and was also in Save The Last Dance.

Vicky Needleman's real name was Bonnie Russavage. Natalia's characters name was Lindsay Warner.

Who do you mean when you said "Steph" on California Dreams? There was no Stephanie. The only main girls were Jenny, Tiffani, Samantha, and Lorena. Then there was Sly's recurring blind girlfriend, Alison, but that was about it for major female characters.

I was just watching the SBTB E! Story again and it's been awhile since I've seen it and man did did it suck with only two of cast (three if you count Miss Bliss). That and it said nothing about the contract problems that Kelly and Jessie. They just made it seemed that they got tired and left but, comeback the film the last ep which was wrong. But, oh well.

The E! True Hollywood Story wasn't that good. No real major gossip or anything. It was much more interesting hearing some firsthand accounts from Dennis Haskins when I met him about certain DRAWMUH~! (like the tension between Mario Lopez and the guy who played Johnny Dakota (the pot smoking movie star)).

I guess Tiffani and Mario had just broken up, and "Dakota" was dating her, which is how he got the guest role. Mario wasn't too cool with him, apparently.

What was her role? I don't remember her at all.

She was also on Dawson's Creek as "Nikki." She's a horrible actress to boot.

After seeing the True Hollywood Story, I kind of felt sorry for Dustin Diamond. I didn't know he was considerably younger than the rest of the cast, and didn't really hang out with them at all. Sounded like the rest of the cast was a prick towards him.

They sort of portrayed Mark Paul as the "reluctant celebrity" and Mario as the "primadonna" Seeing Mario in interviews and on "The Other Half" he came off smug and not likeable at all. Mark Paul always seemed cool

Whoa Tiffani and Mario were dating? Didn't know that. So who else in the cast were dating each other or the guest stars?

It was established that the school board owned The Max, so that could be a factor.

Yeah that's right. That was said in the ep were they were going to tear down The Max right? So I guess when Max left he sold it to the school.

Speaking of which whatever happened to Max? He was on for the first season and then he was gone but, they still called it The Max. So, what did you do, were did he go?

I preferred Matt from X-E's theory...the Max is the school cafeteria, because...EVERYTHING IN THE SBTB UNIVERSE IS IN...THE...SCHOOL! (Gotta reread "Screech's Stupid Birthday")

Dennis Haskins said Ed Alonzo (who was a legit magician/actor hired to play Max) wasn't really catching on after the first season, so they felt he was expendable. They also said it was taking way too long to set up his tricks for such short scenes.

Because the writers realized how boring Zack and Kelly were together and broke them up after a trial run as a couple. As for Jeff, they let him slide because they knew that if they were in Kelly's position that they wouldn't mind getting laid with an older man/woman....

I always thought it was because they jumped shark and they wanted to get of the shark.

Jeff = heat vaccuum. Now Eric, Jessie's evil stepbrother, HE was the greatest SBTB heel ever, ruined only by a 2 second job to Jessie and wussy face turn ;-)

Hint/cheap plug: search for "Saved by the Bell Retro Rant" in Google Groups ;-)

TAT imo was at her best during the Las Vegas wedding.

Feh, TAT jumped the shark since The College Years...the suspicious new face mole, boob job, and as X-E also made mention of, enlarged forehead.

Agreed. Back in the Saved by the Bell days, even when I was 8 I still wanted to pork her.

Dunno if this has been touched on yet, but I recall when they were all young there were references about them being in Indiana...eventually they were in Los Angeles, but it was the same school and Zack, Screech and Lisa all had moved there. I always thought that was pretty strange.

When NBC took over from Disney, the plan was made to keep certain cast members and "restart" from California. You're right about the Miss Bliss eps taking place in Indiana though.

I'm still marking out over those DVD's. My heart might give out.

Fuck The New Class, I'm waiting for California Dreams.

Same here.

BTW, any New Class watchers notice that Rachael was in a 1st season ep played by the same girl.

I think the story was Scott was going to take Rachael to a concert and needed the money for tickets. The only way was to sell some of Weasel comic books. (Which is the only reason I remember that ep.)

Hey Zack was I right about the ep I was just talking about with Rachael in it from the 1st season of the New Class?

I don't think it was a bunch of comics, I think it was just one rare one. But as far as Sarah Lancaster being there for the one-shot, you're right. I actually don't like the first New Class much (WAY too much of a rip on the original), but felt it got better over time, especially with the Valley kids transfer storyline in Season 3.

Suddik, Zack Malibu.

BTW, the New Class is awful. There's not one remotely interesting episode. The acting is even worse than the already campish-clown acting on SBTB. I've met Dustin Diamond, the man agrees totally. So again, suddik, puss.

Add City Guys and USA High, and I'll pretty much be set as far as cheesy, campy Peter Engel shows go.

What about the episode where Zack, Slater, and Lisa come back to help save Bayside from being torn down? I'm not a fan of the New Class, but I actually liked that episode. The episode where The Max gets burned down wasn't too bad either.

I think it was the 3rd season of the New Class that I enjoyed, but I'm not sure.

I loved the season of Hang Time with Anthony Anderson there, but they had that "new cast each season except for the chick" thing going on.

Why did they do that?

Why did they do that?

3rd season of The New Class was the best, because it had the best storyline and reason for a cast change (new students transferring from Valley due to the school districts expanding).

Hang Time actually didn't change the cast that much. The first season group was pretty much done away with, save for Mary Beth, Julie and Vince. Anthony Anderson, the Vince character, and Danny were the only other writeoffs, and they kept Julie, Mary Beth, Kristy, Michael, Silk, Rico, Hammer for the rest of the run. Then they made Jay Hernandez' character permanent when the character of Hammer went to North Carolina to finish high school in order to play for Duke.

As for UseTheSledgehammer...I don't care what Dustin Diamond told you. Hell, when I met Dennis Haskins this past spring he said that the New Class wasn't his favorite time. But I enjoyed most of it, and that's all I care about.

City Guys was good because it was more "updated" and they didn't have cheesy plots, instead dealing with real issues like gun control, drugs, and date rape. USA High was cool, but I didn't watch much second season.
