LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Credit to Stuart of PuroresuFan.com: According to Sports Navi, Ultimo Dragon has quit the WWE and will officially leave on 4/30. Take that for what it's worth.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Well, it would be giving two weeks notice. Vince: Who?
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Johnny Ace - You know, that guy who had all those awesome matches with Rey Mysterio in WCW. Vince - Rey who?
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Oh, they can fuck off. I'm livid about the way he was used, but with no hype to establish him as such an influence on the rest of the cruiser roster's style and give him some name value there was no point in him sticking around. Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Well he did the two things he wanted to do (wrestle at Madison Square Garden and at Wrestlemania), so now that he's done that i'm not surprised he'd get out as soon as possible.
Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted April 15, 2004 exactly. i'm not surprised at all, but fair play to ultimo - he got to wrestle at MSG. back to toryumon?
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 *falls into coma from shock* About time too. Should be a boost for Toryumon to have him back anyway, which I presume will happen.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Maybe its me, but I just never saw the old Ultimo that was in WCW appear during his admittedly limited WWE action. He just never felt the same, like he lost just about all his quickness and execution while getting his arm bakc in shape. Of course, Vince should have worked him out before hiring the guy but I'm not sad to see him go.
clean rob 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I won't be too shocked if this is true either. I was still desperately holding on to the possibility of one decent WWE match between Ultimo & Rey, but it never really seemed likely. Oh well. Also, I have to agree with Goodear - in the little time he actually spent in the ring, he wasn't looking as good as I remember him from earlier stuff. A lot of his spots seemed to lack smoothness, and the infamous slip at WM just made me feel bad for him. I can't imagine he was too happy in WWE anyway, so if he has quit it's probably for the best. And what a fine outing he had. Botched his entrance, *twice*, and had about 1 minute of in-ring time. Poor Ultimo. UYI
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Great news, 9 months of fucking wasting him, what a crock.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Thank god. Seriously. I can't believe what a huge mistake they made by not using him AT ALL. But then again, he was too "airy".
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I'm not even going to get started on Ultimo Dragon's use in WWE. All I can say is, they had themselves a goldmine worker there - if they drove him away, it's their fault.
dubq 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 GOOD! Vince shouldn't even be allowed to HAVE a Cruiser division because he obviously has no idea what the fuck to do with them. Idiot.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 exactly. i'm not surprised at all, but fair play to ultimo - he got to wrestle at MSG. He did indeed, for his TV debut no less. And it was all downhill from there. Remember when he beat Rey in that abortion of a match a few months back and earned a Cruiseweight title shot against Tajiri? Did he ever get the shot? I'm leaning towards a no ... or it was so forgettable I blocked it from memory.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Ultimo doesn't fit in WWE. He works lighter then Lance Storm. Not saying they need to be Bob Holly'ish, but try to look aggressive so fans can buy into what you're doing.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Remember when he beat Rey in that abortion of a match a few months back and earned a Cruiseweight title shot against Tajiri? Did he ever get the shot? WRESTLEMANIA~! Well, I guess it's officially time for the apologists to eat crow.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 If this is true, then good. He should have never gone there to begin with. If he wants to work for an American company, he'd be better off doing occasional X-Division matches for TNA.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 15, 2004 GOOD! Vince shouldn't even be allowed to HAVE a Cruiser division because he obviously has no idea what the fuck to do with them. Idiot. That's what's stuck in my mind - I couldn't agree more. And if Shane McMahon were to inherit the empire, then decide whether you think he stepped out during the Open at 'Mania because he knew that it would be a nonsensical spot-fest or because he's like his father. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Did he ever get the shot? Not against Tajiri, but many months later, he mainevented Velocity and had a great match against Chavo Guerrero in which the title was up for grabs. As far as I know, that match with Chavo was his last televised one too.

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Don't blame him. He probably lives well and doesn't need Vince. And past his debut they didn't give him a shot to get over.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 First Ultimo will do a couple of weeks in TNA so he can bitch about the WWE there get into some X matches then go back to Toryumon.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 More like they just didn't give him a shot period. I'm happy Ultimo Dragon is no longer with the WWE. As the WWE couldn't really use him the way you need to, and frankly, he'll be better off back in Japan.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Well Vince doesn't have a concept to deal with a Japanese legend I mean think of all the Big Japanese names he had in WWF/WWE Ultimo Dragon Great Sasuke Jinsei Shinzaki etc etc etc
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 He didn't quit, he is taking a leave of absence By Dave Scherer Ultimo Dragon will be taking off the next few months from WWE to go back to Japan and attend to business there. As of right now, he is scheduled to come back to WWE in the fall and return to wrestle for them then, but a Japanese publication is reporting he is going back to Japan to wrestle. Guest Fook Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Good. Vince never had any idea how to use him in the first place. Being a velocity jobber is not how you use someone like Ultimo.
Guest Nanks Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I'm disappointed, but can't even feign surprise. To take an optimistic view, however, given the popular opinion that he's lost a step, perhaps a few months back in Japan will get him back in a bit of form. Furthermore, it would definitely give WWE another chance to re-launch him and push him..... Yup, that was asking too much.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Yeah, Ultimo worked too "airy," was not anywhere near his prime, and was sloppy/clumsy at times. However, they wouldn't have signed him if they'd have had any clue how he wrestled in the first place and what kind of condition he was currently in.
