Wrestlers where their debut televised matches were

Recommended Posts

I assume you mean for the company, which explains Goldust

Christian (for the Lightheavyweight title, no less)

Tazz (vs Angle at Rumble 2000)

Kurt Angle (vs Stasiak at Survivor Series 1999)

Great Sasuke and TAKA Michinoku (Canadian Stampede)

Mikey Whipwreck (WCW debut vs Kidman, Uncensored 2000)

And obviously celebs like Lawrence Taylor and Mr T

Jerry Lynn at Judgement Day 2001? (I don't remember which PPV it was, but he won the LHW title from Scotty 2 Hotty, although it was on Heat)

Vader in Royal Rumble 96

Gail Kim at some PPV a couple years ago

... Wait, WHAT? You might be thinking of Jazz, who debuted at SurSer 01 (which also answers Superstring's question, yay).

Jerry Lynn's debut was on Heat at Backlash 2001 where he defeated Crash Holly for the Light Heavyweight title

Also Isaac Yankem debuted at SummerSlam 95

Not sure about that, but he did first show up at Badd Blood, so his debut was on a PPV.

Wasn't Survivor Series 97 vs Mankind Kane's first match (as Kane anyway).

As far as I know.

And how the fuck could I forget about the Undertaker?

*bangs head against the wall

How about The Prisioner (Nailz) at Slamboree 93, The Giant at Bash at the Beach 95 and the Yetti at Halloween Havoc 95 maybe? I'm not too sure about any of those but I think they are correct

Not sure about Nailz, but neither Giant or Yetti wrestled those nights (did Yetti ever wrestle?). Plus, Yetti debuted on a Nitro and Giant had shown up on Saturday Night and other shows a few times before.

Actually, I think Giant made his wrestling debut at Halloween Havoc that year.

You're right, Jericho did face Alex Wright a few feeks before Fall Brawl.

I just looked it up, and Jericho's WCW debut was against Mr. JL on August 20, 1996. Jericho's match against Alex Wright happened six days later on Nitro.

Jerry Lynn's WWE debut was on MONDAY NIGHT RAW in the summer of 1997, against TAKA Michinoku. Sorry folks.

Actually, it was aired on an episode Friday Night's Main Event.

And didn't Brock fight one of the Hardys on the Raw before Backlash? Or was that match a no contest or something?

Papacita: Yes, the Yeti DID "wrestle".

He competed in the first World War 3 Battle Royal, IIRC.

Then he was later repackaged as "He Who Eats Too Many Reese's Cups"...er, Reese. ^^;;;;

Nope. Lesnar's first match was at Backlash...and he beat down one of the Hardys (can't remember which one though) brutally that the match was stopped.

He also did one shot as "The Super Giant Ninja" on an episode of WCW Saturday Night, losing in about a minute and a half to new US Champion One Man Gang.

Sadly, so few people watched World War 3 that nobody noticed even though the ring outfit was the same.

I noticed . . . and now that you mentioned it, I do remember the Giant Ninja.

Gail Kim debuted on RAW and actually won the Women's title. Why I should remember this more than anything else, I don't know...

But he did run-ins for weeks beforehand (first against Spike Dudley)

Yeah...this was when some friends of mine thought that he was Sid and Brakkus' love child.

Jake Roberts WWE Return in 1996 was @ the Royal Rumble. That should count. Faarooq's debut as "The Nation of Domination" @ Survivor Series 1996...otherwise, I can't remember real debut's.

Yeti was in WW3 and got eliminated first IIRC.
