The Ill One Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Then breath smoke. Okay, I've been getting into all the great subcategories that metal provides. But really when I play my metal I want to bash a head in, I want to bleed from the ears, I don't need good singing or lyrics or anything... I just need to feel like murdering at the end of it. I take my black metal like my coffee, black as it gets. I'd use some witty analogy for death metal, but I'm not that witty. So I'd be insanely appreicative if you could throw out a list of the most violent, loud, eardrum shattering metal out there. I've done some board searches, some Kazaa searches (Anaal Nathrakh has kept me rather content), and then some opinions from locals. Bbbuuutt I'm trying to fit up a whole CD that isn't cluttered with throw-away Grindcore or decent metal songs. I'd love to have a full CD of just brutal, brutal shit. Huge thanks to anybody who can help.

I might add some more later on
Guest Vitamin X Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 You know I just recently bought a CD at, oif all fuckin places, Hot Topic, for $4 that has two cd's, one with 20 tracks and another with 150+ mp3's featuring all kinds of metal you can try out for yourself. The mp3 CD has been in my comp's CD-ROM drive ever since I got it. It has selected tracks from Century Media, Nuclear Blast, and Olympic Recordings. I felt like grindcore today so right now I'm listening to Vital Remains, I was pleasantly surprised at some better grindcore bands on other labels like even Century. Check it out, it's definitely worth the $4. It's called 'Metal for the Masses'
Nighthawk Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Well, I'm going to name two bands and you can be happy with anything you find from them. The Berzerker. They carry a gabber influence as well as metal. If you don't know what gabber is, it's like the techno equivalent of what you're asking for. Don't let it stop you, it's still mostly metal. Agoraphobic Nosebleed. AoO hipped me to them. Pretty sick.
The Ill One Posted May 4, 2004 Author Report Posted May 4, 2004 Thanks Thumbtack, IDRM and Vitamin X- I'll check that out. Yeah but ideally stuff I can snatch off Kazaa tonight would be idea (I need the metal for the sake of bashing a head in).
Steviekick Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Go buy yourself any of Relapse Records' Contaminated volumes. They are usually $7ish and will blow your fucking mind.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 I am almost completely convinced you will not be able to get half of the shit in my list off kazaa.
The Ill One Posted May 4, 2004 Author Report Posted May 4, 2004 Actually yeah, so am I. It's just I dont know any other good sites or programs. So you can throw those suggestions out there too, heh.
Steviekick Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 I am almost completely convinced you will not be able to get half of the shit in my list off kazaa. Damn straight. Your list is too metal for Kazaa. Go to Relapse Records' website, relapse.com , and go to the MP3 section. They have a bunch of stuff there.
Nevermortal Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Nile - "Chapter for Transforming Into A Snake" Nile - "Smashing the Antiu" Nile - "Unas, Slayer of the Gods" Nile - "Masturbating the War God" Dying Fetus - "Pissing In the Mainstream" Krisiun - "Wolfen Tyranny" Strapping Young Lad - "Oh My Fucking God" Dark Funeral - "Arrival of Satan's Empire" Mayhem - "Weird (Manheim) - Pure Fucking Armageddon" Vital Remains - "Dechristianize" Marduk - "Slay the Nazarene" Marduk - "Sex with Satan" Marduk - "Bleached Bones" Marduk - "Funeral Bitch"
Red Baron Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 I'm more of a classic Black Metal fan, so just go download some Venom and Celtic Frost, and be happy with it. and Sikth...they're great.
Corey_Lazarus Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Murder Squad - "Slowly Burnt To Death" Murder Squad - "Sent Home In A Box" Murder Squad - "Return Of The Rotten" Susperia - "Illusions Of Evil" Susperia - "Of Hate We Breed" (not really TOO brutal, but good, blackened thrash) Skinless - "The Optimist" Skinless - "Tampon Lollipops"
Steviekick Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Michael Mcdonald's earlier stuff was pioneering in the mathcore scene.
DCMaximo Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Got to agree with the inclusion of the Berzerker- the first album is fantastic as well as being awesomely heavy. I'd also recommend anything you can find by Akercocke or Extreme Noise Terror. Oh, and if you want to hear the ugliest sounding band possible, try some Iron Monkey-really slow and heavy, plus the singer sounds like a tramp throwing up in a cemet mixer, and I mean that in the best possible way.
Nighthawk Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 A band called Iron Monkey being slow and heavy is beautifully ironic.
Steviekick Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 It's not really metal, but if your looking for loud, fast, and noisy, go with digital hardcore bands like Atari Teenage Riot and Ec8or.
Nighthawk Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 If we want to recommend that stuff too, I got a couple. Rotterdam Terror Corps. In fact, even if you don't want that genre, give em a shot. I have confidence that you will appreciate them on some level. "I Fuck You Now, Bitch" is a great song to start, and I'm pretty sure you can get it off Kazaa. 3 Steps Ahead Ultraviolence Both of those are a little less abrasive than RTC, but it's still some violent music, for sure.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Oh, and probably the grimest album of this year. Blood and Vomit - Nattefrost it's fucking ugly. Get anything from that, particularly Sluts of Hell, Ancient Devil Worshipping, Whore (Filthly Whore) And as far as something to use to download shit off of. I am constantly recommending soulseek on this board. I have never come up with an empty search from it. Whether you can get a download right away is another issue, but you won't come out without a result with it.
Nevermortal Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Ah fuck me. I forgot one. Cryptopsy - "Slit Your Guts". Lord Worm gurgles up gravel.
NoCalMike Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Anything by the band "Severe Torture" or "Immolation"

MrRant Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Michael Mcdonald's earlier stuff was pioneering in the mathcore scene. Mathcore? Are they singing about killing fractions or something?
Jorge Gorgeous Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Stormtroopers of Death - Shenanigans Stormtroopers of Death - We All Bleed Red
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Michael Mcdonald's earlier stuff was pioneering in the mathcore scene. Mathcore? Are they singing about killing fractions or something? No, it's a ridiculously proggy element in a few different genres that bases their riffs and progressions off of mathematical formula. The result is usually a lot of dissonance and great breakdowns. Nevermortal mentioned a lot of stuff I would have. Almost anything off of Nile's last two albums will kill you. "Unas, Slayer of The Gods" is more or less the best death metal song ever, so you HAVE to get that. It's like, the song's already heavy enough, but then there's the part with this ultra-quick and quiet snare roll with off-time kick drum that drops off of a cliff into this wild solo. Has to be heard to be believed. "Cold Hate, Warm Blood"-Cryptopsy. They're your other safe bet for all things brutal death. Like Nile, I'd say the most recent stuff is best. The Relapse records samplers are indeed marvelous, although there's always something on them that sucks ass like Bongzilla. The rest of it is made up of the modern grindcore elite however, so go for one or two of 'em. I'm sure you can get them from here somehow. Cephalic Carnage is fuckin' bad. Check them out. Anything off of Lucid Interval, but "Pseudo" is particularly sick.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Oh yeah, and try some Morbid Angel. They've been around forever and are heavy as hell. "Blessed are the Sick," "God of Emptiness," "Summing Redemption," "Dominate." Pretty good stuff, there.
Guest Blas Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 You people need more brutal death metal if you think Nile and Cryptopsy are the creme de la creme.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Oh you done started some shit now. My brutal death pick is and always has been Suffocation by the way. Pierced From Within is still unmatched in my ears.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Meh. People can trumpet all about the old school elements all they want, I've never found anything as overpowering and intense as a Flo Mounier ripping blast. Nile's got the showoff solos, the chugging energy, a precisely vicious wall of sound from the rhythm section. Brutal death has evolved so much in the past ten years or so. Just out of curiousity, what's your ultimate metal pick?
Nighthawk Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 You know what else is good? Dissection. The singer/guitarist killed a guy, so that automatically makes them more legitimate.
