Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Not sure if there is too many "Friends" fans on the boards. 10 years... and now it's over. Thursday night's are not going to be the same. "Friends" is over, but on the bright side... since Joey is my favorite character, it'll be nice (But weird) seeing him get his own spinoff. I swear the tears won't stop coming. I shed a few tears during tonight's episode of The O.C. and I know for a fact, i'll shed a few during "Friends". A male can shed a tear at times, can't he ? So all comments, predictions, reactions to the big finale... feel free to post them here.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Good fucking Riddance I'll probably still watch the finale, since I did watch the show for the first three seasons.
Lando Griffin Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn Snoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooore Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you. What a great couple weeks on NBC. First, no more Friends, next week, no more Frasier!
Ripper Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Yet none of your television watching will change in the slightest...yet you care enough to cheer the ending of a show you don't watch. Strange.
Guest Razor Roman Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Wow... there's so much hate out there for Friends... I'll be watching. I actually became a Friends fan pretty late in the game... like season 5... so I've liked the show quite a bit lately.
starvenger Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Yet none of your television watching will change in the slightest...yet you care enough to cheer the ending of a show you don't watch. Remember, if you don't watch it, the show MUST suck. [/sarcasm] Anyways, I'll be on a plane, so I'll be taping the show. And I hope that it's a fitting farewell to one of my favourite sitcoms ever...
treble Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 It's probably a bit over-rated (certainly not 'the best sitcom ever' like NBC was pimping it before), but I still liked the show for the most part. I just hope the finale's not too sappy.
haVoc Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Yet none of your television watching will change in the slightest...yet you care enough to cheer the ending of a show you don't watch. Remember, if you don't watch it, the show MUST suck. [/sarcasm] Childish jealously. Friends is said to be the most popular and best sitcom on TV so they get mad. "BOOOO, they said "Friends" is better then my favorite show. Good riddance Chandler, Monica, Ross, Rachel, Joey and Phoebe! I hate you even though I know all your character names!" Amazingly there is a 4 page "Saved By The Bell" thread, but some how "Friends" is hated.
pochorenella Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I won't be home when the show starts so I'll tape it. I'll miss the show, I've always liked it, but I don't feel as closely attached to it as I felt about Seinfeld. That's my favorite show ever. Having said that, if the show turns out to be an emotional tear-jerker, I could find myself actually crying a bit. Just a bit.
Guest Quik Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Didn't Schwimmer leak the finale in a magazine or something? I personally hate the fucking show, but I hope they do something rediculous like have someone die. **Imagines the scene where Rachel walks in on Ross hanging from the celing fan with a belt around his neck** Rachel- "My God! Ross! No!" Chandler- "That is so not a way to stay alive."
Guest Choken One Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 This show ranks amongst the most annoying shows ever and im glad to see it get off my tv at least as far as new episodes are concerned. Will some one enlighten me about the supposed "greatness" of this show? Why should I care about 6 yuppie white fucks in NYC whom just chill in a coffee house and complain or make really bad jokes...
eiker_ir Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 i always loved the show, and have watched like 98% of the episodes so i'm a big fan. i'll probably cry a bit too.....nooooooo i don't want it to end. i agree it'll be kind of weird to see just Joey alone, but i hope it's good.
Ravenbomb Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I'll watch it mostly because I like watching last episodes, regardless of whether or not I watched the show or not.
Guest MikeSC Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Well, I've been waiting for an opportunity to finally watch some of the DVD's I've not watched in my collection. Ah, TV Land is going to basically go dark for the hour of the last finale. How obscenely LAME is that? -=Mike
Youth N Asia Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Is it on at 8 or 9? Cause I don't want to watch any buildup or extra crap. I like the show enough. I've only seen it in reruns though. And Ross sucks man balls. Far and away the worst character on the show. I'll tape it and watch Smackdown

Yeah I'm sick of it. Never watch the show but, I'm sick of the hype, sick of them being everywhere, sick of the actor esp. Mrs. Brad Pitt, sick of it always getting it's ass kiss at the Emmys. So goodbye.
Slayer Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 ^ What he said Count me in the group of people glad to see it (and the perpetual balloon of hype surrounding it) gone Something funny though: One time I was reading through SKeith's DVD rant index, and I saw "Friends Season 1" on the list. Knowing SK as the acerbic bastard he is, I clicked on it expecting to find some rant on the show, but instead found he actually liked the show? The funnier thing was the intro to his review And then something weird happened, as I noticed that the characters were about the same age as me, and were talking like my friends did, and having the same kinds of mid-mid-life crises that my friends were, and I knew that this was truly something that was going to be special. No comment needed

Guest Choken One Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 any of you think this will get M*A*S*H like ratings?
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Since the theme is negativity and overrated sitcoms... FUCK SEINFELD. Bring on the flames, baby. One show that I never liked (Probably never will) or could get into. Maybe i'm watching the wrong episodes, because well... IT SUCKS.

I'll be watching tonight to see how it ends, but I haven't watched the last 4 seasons. I still find them funny. I just no longer consider it "Must See TV".
Guest MikeSC Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 any of you think this will get M*A*S*H like ratings? If it was on today, M*A*S*H wouldn't pull down M*A*S*H-type ratings. -=Mike

It would be impossible for any show to get ratings like M*A*S*H did, as when "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" aired, there were no cable networks to watch as an alternative. You basically either watched CBS, NBC, or ABC.
Guest Choken One Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 I know that but i mean in it's equalness. I think it'll hit SB numbers no question.
sfaJack Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Blah blah blah...all the Friends hate. You guys bash a show that you admittedly don't watch but then get your panties in a bunch when someone bashes the Simpsons for not being as great as it once was. I don't understand it. Anyway, I'll be watching this finale. I haven't watched Friends regularly in a few years, but I was hooked for the first five or six years so I gotta see how it ends.
Placebo Effect Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Ohh my God. Turn on TV Land right now. It's a bunch of people from TV Land WATCHING Friends. it's so incredibly awkward that I must tape the rest of it. Edit: And by TV Land, I mean I believe it's just employees from the network.
Guest Choken One Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 The hype and the shitty SD got to me... I watched it so far... Im not seeing the funny... Although The bit with Gunther was quasi cute.

But are they really watching the finale, cause I can't quite tell from the muffled TV sounds if it's the finale.

When I download the episode later I'll have to compare the laugh tracks for a brief moment. In other news, look at all the races they managed to fit onto the screen. This, however, is pure genius by TV Land. They've gotten mainstream publicty out of it, the sponsorship by Hotels.com, and the ratings they're getting right now are probably much the same, or larger, than they would've been with a Leave it to Beaver rerun.
