ChrisMWaters Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 OK...here's a thought that I had after watching the opening video package for WrestleMania X-Seven again: If you could get any former wrestler/manager to do the voice for the opening montages for the PPV events, like Blassie did before he passed on, who would you get? Personally, I'd go with Jesse "The Body" Ventura. He seemed very comfortable in the role from "The Mania of WrestleMania", and his voice just has that feel about it that makes an event feel special. I'd personally love for Ventura to do an opening package for WrestleMania 21 or something. Any other ideas?
Papacita Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Nah. Gene's voice makes me wanna laugh whenever I hear it. No clue why, but it does. I wouldn't mind Vince's voice being used if he was kept off TV a little more. Jesse probably would be best though.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Dusty Rhodes if you weeeeeeeeeeeeel.
thuganomics Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Bruno Sammartino. He has a cool voice, although him endorcing the WWE falls somewhere betweeen the slim and none categories.
Mecha Mummy Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Dusty Rhodes if you weeeeeeeeeeeeel. That would be hysterical. "Good golly Miss Molly tonight Chris Benoit will be gettin' funky like a monkey and CLUBBERIN', TONY, CLUBBERIN' Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match, if you weeeeeel!" To answer the question, I'm not sure. Maybe Ventura because he and WWE seem to be on good terms, but at the same time I dunno if he'd want to do it.
Guest thebigjig Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 speaking of the Mania X-7 opening... anyone else here think that the shot of the arab women dancing around in a circle while holding portable television sets seem a little over the top to you?

I'm more concerned with the Asian woman watching WrestleMania IX and SMILING about it...plus how good her TV reception was on that little TV.

Wrestlemania is "a celebreation... of life" Who knew the key to world peace = Wrestlemania? Kind of makes you wish the terrorists would cough up enough money to order next years Mania

They wouldn't have the ability to use Stereotypical Foreigners anymore.
King Cucaracha Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Todd Pettingill. I'm dead serious. Or Jim Cornette.
ChrisMWaters Posted May 10, 2004 Author Report Posted May 10, 2004 Todd Pettingill. Well, I DID kinda like Todd's promo thing that he did for just before the Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels Iron Man Match.
ISportsFan Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Pettingill was also pretty good in the Hart/Austin recap before WrestleMania XIII. Jason
chaosrage Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 And the year after with Austin/Bret. I'm serious too, Todd Pettingill. Edit: Fuck, beaten.
RepoMan Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 What concerns me is that all these pepole around the world are getting WrestleMania for free over the air while us Americans have to shell out $45 to see it (or waste money on gas driving to a bar).
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Ernie Ladd. Didn't he do it once?
Guest Anglesault Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Ernie Ladd. Didn't he do it once? I was gonna say Ernie Ladd as well. He did a good one.

Guest reshad974 Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Vince McMahon is simply the best for that.
DerangedHermit Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Todd Pettingill. He's too busy DJ'ing and doing commercials (with his onair partner and William Hung, no less) for a shitty NY metro radio station. William Hung + Todd Pettengill =
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Easy. Kanyon. what a goofy answer... the true answer is the one who pointed out his speech problem, the person most fit to do a voice over in the WWE... Lita. Maybe they can incorporate that scream from tonight's RAW into the promos too.
King Cucaracha Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Heyman would be decent for the right matches, if he weren't an on-screen talent. He used to do all the ECW ones. I'd agree with Vince, only if it was old-school, talks slightly too fast, Vinnie Mac. Them's where the days.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Its sad, the best person to do the voice would have been...... Gorilla
tbondrage99 Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 I think it should be either Bobby Heenan, Superstar Billy Grham or Bret Hart, though the hitman would be highly unlikely.
Guest Dark Pegasus Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Not to do a pointless bump or anything, but I think Arn Anderson would be a cool choice. He's got the respect credentials and was always good at cutting promos.
