Guest glennsoe Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Link; http://www.wrestlezone.com/articles/87254065.php ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * WARNING THIS SITE HAS EXTREME POP UP ADS !!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Konnan himself has been telling people that he has agreed to a one year contract deal with World Wrestling Entertainment. As previously reported, he was pushing for an announcer position when he was backstage at Judgment Day. As of right now, he is going to play an announcer role. Although the specifics are unknown, it is expected that he would be doing backstage and in-ring interview type angles. He will most likely be a bit more “involved” than other announcers. He apparently still wants to get in the ring, however does not feel that he is in the best physical shape to do so. As it stands right now, if things go well and Konnan gets back into shape, he could be used as a wrestler sometime down the line. Konnan is leaving TNA on good terms, and there is no heat between the two sides over his departure to WWE. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If he's put on smackdown he'll get over, BUT not as an announcer..He could be a heel in feuds with Rey, Kidman & Eddie
Placebo Effect Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Konnan will likely join the Spanish announcing team, as he was doing with TNA for the past year.
razazteca Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 But will he be as good when he was an announcer in WCW?
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Wrestlezone? Since when did they suddenly become anything resembling a credible news site? Wake me when Meltz says anything about this.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 So does this mean that when the Spanish announce table gets trashed, Konnan will get all K-Doggish and beat down who ever did it and slap on the Tequlia sunrise?
Hektik Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Wrestlezone? Since when did they suddenly become anything resembling a credible news site? Wake me when Meltz says anything about this. Well, here is what he had to say in this weeks Observer. Konnan, who had Eddy Guerrero and Mysterio go to bat for him, was offered a announcing job, pending his status with TNA. The Konnan thing was pretty controversial in the sense that Guerrero, who has a lot of power these days, was strong for him. There were those who outright said Konnan wasn't a good enough worker to make it, and they couldn't see him as a money player, so the offer was made for an announcing spot and not a wrestling spot.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Using him for the Smackdown Spanish Announce Team would make sense he fits UPN's audience demographics.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 to almost play devils advocate, I'd let Konnan at least wrestle a few times to see if he is worth it... I mean look who they hired in the past or currently hiring... Konnan at least can pull a match out of his ass a few times without help. However he is still eons ahead of say a Nathan Jones or a Matt Morgan.
tbondrage99 Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Well congrats to Konnan getting back into the WWE after the Max Moon debocle, Im betting Vince will still punish him in one way or another because of that though.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Konnan at least can pull a match out of his ass a few times without help. I wouldn't bet on that.
Tawren Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Well, he's probably better than JR/King combined. That's not saying much, is it?
AlaskanHero Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Well, he's probably better than JR/King combined. That's not saying much, is it? Well, J.R is good sometimes. King is....yeah Either way, I'll enjoy Konnan announcing if it's in a language I can understand.
Tawren Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Either way, I'll enjoy Konnan announcing if it's in a language I can understand. *Benoit with a suplex* "orale riba la raza essa whoaaaaa orale oil of olay" "STONE COLD STONE COLD BAH GAWD MEXI-KANG BAH GAWD STONE COLD!"
A Happy Medium Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 I remember back in WCW whe Rey and Juvi were trying to have a best out of five series, and Konnan was doing commentary. He was damned good. Of course, those guys are two of his best friends...so meh.
AlaskanHero Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Either way, I'll enjoy Konnan announcing if it's in a language I can understand. *Benoit with a suplex* "orale riba la raza essa whoaaaaa orale oil of olay" "STONE COLD STONE COLD BAH GAWD MEXI-KANG BAH GAWD STONE COLD!" The fact that I understood that scares me....
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 As long as he doesn't throw in some tossing salads and pealing potatos on commentary.
tekcop Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 ...Guerrero, who has a lot of power these days... Am I the only one who thnks this is really neat?
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 ...Guerrero, who has a lot of power these days... Am I the only one who thnks this is really neat? Its just a matter of weeks really... in fact we should have a countdown like they did for Jericho.. a Countdown to the New Millenium Man of the WWE.... and that New Millenium Man will be! LA PARKA GRANDE!
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Isn't La Parka in jail? Or was that longer ago than I remember....
Guest sean pyro Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 The later but they couldn't bring him in sadly. From my understanding AAA owns the gimmick and now the real La Parka who doesn't work for AAA anymore has to wrestle as "L.A. Park".
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 The later but they couldn't bring him in sadly. From my understanding AAA owns the gimmick and now the real La Parka who doesn't work for AAA anymore has to wrestle as "L.A. Park". Oh thats utter bullshit.... thats it Vince needs to start a Campaige on Mexican tv and Buy out and absorb AAA so we can have La Parka!
SuperJerk Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Using him for the Smackdown Spanish Announce Team would make sense he fits UPN's audience demographics. Except that no one ever sees them because they just do voice overs. Isn't this a little beneath him?
griffinmills Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 The later but they couldn't bring him in sadly. Oh thats utter bullshit.... thats it Vince needs to start a Campaige on Mexican tv and Buy out and absorb AAA so we can have La Parka! Well take it with a grain of salt, AAA is the organization that has wrestlers coming out to the "Degeneration X" theme and Michael Jackson's "Thriller." They also recently added a Brazo de Plata knock off called simply Brazo and have midgets dressed as the evil murderous doll Chucky but call him Chuky (managed by "monsthur" no less.) Oh, and they use a Hexagonal ring.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 You'd think that if he eventually wanted to go back to the ring, he would take some sort of managerial role and stay on tv and air take a few bumps here and there while he trains.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 They want to cement the Latino demographic so I see no problem with this. Konnan was stale and repetitive but compared to JR and the King his act was fresh.
Sideburnious Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 You'd think that if he eventually wanted to go back to the ring, he would take some sort of managerial role and stay on tv and air take a few bumps here and there while he trains. Yeah I think he could make a very good manager in the WWE. When he first went into TNA and had that angle/fued with Jerry Lynn he was very good as a manager for the wrestlers he brought in to fight Lynn. I think a similar angle could happen now. Have him denouncing Guerrero's title reign (which would get him on MR. Angles good side and give him a bit of support) and then he could bring in other wrestlers to try and take Guerrero down. It could be Eddie vs. the World Either that or now that Chavo Classic and Chavo Jr. are probably having a little mini-fued you could insert Konnan into the mix as Devil's advocate for Chavo Jr. He could get alot of heat for turning on his dad. He could then use Chavo agains his old Filthy Animals members in revenge and then Konnan could prepare him for setting his sights back on his Uncle Eddie. Its all too easy
thuganomics Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Strangely enough, despite the fact I hate his ring work, I'm really excited to see what Konnan will do in WWE. Maybe it's just the fact, that he's another talent being added to a rather pathetic roster.
