The Vines breaking up

A major story which will be being spread through the Australian Press today is that Sydney band, The Vines, are splitting up. At a small concert in Sydney last night for Australian rock radio station Triple M the bassist threw down his instrument and walked off stage after just one song reportedly after a falling out with the rest of the band. At which point the rest of the band basically lost it and proceeded to trash the venue, throwing glasses at spectators, calling them "cunts" and kicking and breaking a journalist's camera to the value of $30,000.

I liked Highly Evolved, but the band members themselves seemed like they were likely lunatics or idiots or both. Humorously a local music paper predicted that The Vines would be gone within the next two years, and it looks like they were right.

There goes one...

Let rid the world of the other ones....

Who is next to die from the "new wave" of music?

Strokes?

White Stripes?

and the countless other shitty "s" bands.

What a wonderful birthday present. :D

I could not STAND the Vines. So, currently, I'm doing the happyfuntimevwootdance, for they can't rape my ears with crappy music any more.

Nanks, I'll repeat my WNA post.

"Wow, look at us, we're hardcore!"

Morons.

They came, they saw, they played some pop music, they tried to conquer, they failed, they fucked off.

Good riddance.

For all the talk of overexposure those guys had surrounding them, I don't think I ever had to knowingly hear a single Vines song.

The libertines I can tolerate for about one song, The strokes I don't mind but they started all this crap, I shan't shed a tear for the vines, Jet are horrendous, the White Stripes are OK for a while but were just awful at leeds 2002 and have no business being on the main stage, let alone headlining. If you like 'retro' get thy some RFTC, they were kicking the shit out of the aformentioned both musically and aesthetically a long time ago, and still are.

Why is there no mention of how horrible the Hives were as well? They were even WORSE than the Vines, and terribly confusing albeit their two similar soudns and names.

I like The Vines and was looking forward to seeing them at Reading.

The lead singer of the Libertines has quit also.

Bands like Jet should be kissing the asses of bands like The Hives. Without them, they'd be nowhere near the charts.

All these bands are shitty, guys; The Hives had like one good song and the White Stripes are fairly solid. That's it.

The White Stripes are the best there. I actually liked them before Seven-Nation Army was released.

I've always enjoyed the Strokes. I never really saw the comparison betwene them and the rest of these groups. The Vines were always the worst of the lot. I was intrigued by Jet when they first came out, I asked for their cd for Christmas, and hated it. Bah.

Glad the Vines have decided to fuck off, not only were they painfully dull, but the lead singer was auch a whiny, petulant cunt in every interview I read (especially the front page article in an issue of Kerrang this year) that I'm delighted to be shot of them. The fact that the cunting Libertines are falling apart is the icing on the cake. C'mon Franz Ferdinand, you know you're next...

But not Robbie Keane, the greatest striker in football today.

On the subject of the Vines: why do I get the impression the lead singer is going to launch some terrible solo career on us all?

I think he's closer to choking on his vomit and dying
