If the WWE is any kind of smart (which they're not) he'll be released immediatly before the media gets wind of this and the shit really hits the fan.

 

Do you really think that the America media will care about this considering it is WWE and it was out of the country? You won't hear about this outside the internet, I say.

Beat me to the punch by posting this already ... what mainstream media group is going to cover this 'scandal'? Having a pro-wrestler do the salute is no worse than having a band do it, and I'm pretty sure the racist Oi bands have toured Germany more than once. It's barely news to us, and we post on a wrestling board. Who else is going to care?!?

It was the Eve of the 60th anniversy of Dday. There's no more inappropriate time to do it.

Well, Chancellor Schroeder has publicly stated during these past few days that he thinks that it's time that Germany acknowledged the part it played in the events of D-Day.

 

A good start would be to not get their panties in a twist over something as inconsequential as the idiotic actions of a wrestler at an otherwise unremarkable wrestling event.

 

Not to excuse Bradshaw's behavior, but this is SUCH a NON-scandal that it's ridiculous.

It's history and everyone should respect that. Germany was torn apart completely because of that war and it's an extrodinarly sensitive topic to this day.

It's not quite the same thing (though personally I'd think discouraging steroid use and the like would be a good thing). Bradshaw did something illegal clearly in front of a large crowd. I think if a wrestler took steroids in such a public fashion Vince would not be best pleased to say the least.

Does anyone think that this is the exact reaction he was hoping to get from this? We internet fans often discuss how good or bad a heel is based on our criteria for what makes a heel good, but we rarely get hooked in to the point of actually hating a guy. Bradshaw is obviously pushing some buttons and causing some legit heat.

Anybody read Dynamite Kid's book? He talks about beating up kids at shows in Japan in order to get thrown in Jail and get heat from the crowd. I really don't think this is much worse.

Quite probably. I'm not offended by it personally - like many people have said, it's just pro wrestling. I just think it was a pretty stupid thing for such a supposedly intelligent man to do, it really won't do the WWE any favours in the German market and he really should have thought that it might not be such a great idea before he did it. Still, I'd probably just give him a slap on the wrist and tell him not to do it again.
