Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle

Recommended Posts

OK, while I gotta admire the guts it takes to have 2 Asian leads in a major motion picture, you're using the MILF guy and the Indian guy from Van Wilder? In what I've heard is a stoner movie?

That's rather fucked...

Ehh..if you were in a way saying this movie looks crap, I have to say I strongly disagree.

Was just saying I can't wait for that to come out. Movie looks to be pretty funny. And both of the guys..I've loved in just about every roll they've been in, whether it was a minor character or not.

When I first saw the poster at the theater I thought this looked awful too, but then saw the preview. It has a weird "Dude, Where's My Car?" meets "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" look to it.

Besides, to those who have frequented White Castle you know there is SOOOO much material here. From the whole 24 hour a day atmosphere (which lends itself well to stoner humor) to the fart burgers, to the way they give you your drinks in a paper sack instead of a drink holder.....it all has money written on it.

I dunno what kind of money this will make, but it'll be a surefire cult favorite on video.

I'm very divided. On one hand, a stoner movie is meant to be stupid, so you know what you're getting. On the other, the casting of two visible minorities as leads makes you think that something else is going on here.

So... yeah. I'm leaning towards cabbageboy's opinion - flop in the theaters, and a cult film on video...

I loved the trailer for it before Dodgeball.

"Starring That Asian dude from American Pie, and the Indian Guy from National Lampoon's Van Wilder..."

Awesome.

Its basically going to be one of those fun road trip movies just using two guys who haven't done any big roles and I don't know where Stoner movie is coming from, I haven't seen either of these two guys even mention anything about drugs other than drinking in this movie. What I've seen so far is just two guys trying to make a trip and everything goes wrong.

Here's the "official" story from the website

In the great cinematic tradition of Road Trip and Dude, Where's My Car? comes Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, which follows two likeable underdogs who set out on a Friday night quest to satisfy their craving for White Castle hamburgers and end up on an epic journey of deep thoughts, deeper inhaling and a wild road trip as un-PC as it gets.  John Cho (American Pie 1 & 2) and Kal Penn (Malibu's Most Wanted) take on the title roles in the film directed by Danny Leiner (Dude, Where's My Car?) written by Hayden Schlossberg & Jonathan Hurwitz.

...But my suspicions arose from a lot of the clips being at night, and the fact that they're going to White Castle - known for being open late so you can satisfy those cravings...

I definitely agree with you. I went once when I was working in Detroit, and believe me, that was more than enough. But there are lots of people that love it, although it may have more to do with 40-cent mini-burgers than taste. I just don't know.

John Cho was also in the indie film "Better Luck Tomorrow" (didn't realize that until I read his biography), which was pretty much an all-Asian cast. A decent movie that's worth a rental.

I loved Dude Where's My Car, and this seems to follow in the same footsteps, so I can't wait to see this movie. Plus, you get to see Doogie Howser do a line of coke off a stripper's ass, so you can't lose.

Yeah, I think we've all been there at one point or another...

I am surprised White Castle is OK with having their name on this. I am sure it is not "official", but if it is coming out in two weeks they must not have a problem with it.

Someone has to get arrested at the White Castle though. TRUST ME it does happen.....

Aw, dude. White Castle is the sort of place where you just get these bizarre cravings like "I must eat some White Castles NOW." There is one right next to me practically, and I used to go there a lot. Now? Eh, don't need em.

Dames has obviously gone mad since last joining us.

Anyways I bet this movie is on Comedy Central within 3 years. It'll be in a marathon with Half Baked, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Cheech and Chong Up in Smoke. Then afterwards they'll play something that just doesn't belong with those other movies...like Ghostbusters.

Sadly, the 1984 Ghostbusters outshines all of those. That's just how awesome it is.

I kind of want to see this, though. For a dollar at the cheap theater near my school. And even then that's a big maybe. If King Arthur or Spidey 2 is there at the same time I doubt it will happen.

Cheap hamburgar joint, also Vader's summer home in the Rocky Mountains.

Now THAT would be a movie! "Harold and Kumar...come to my White Castle of Fear!".

That would be great. I mean, Cheatum needs the work, right?
