EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 McMahon Upset That SD! Drew Stronger Rating Than RAW WWE head wants RAW to be top show..... Vince McMahon was upset that a recent edition of Smackdown drew a higher rating than that weeks' RAW. MrRant 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 For some reason Orton getting the belt doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Would be something new.
Just John 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 How is SD drawing better ratings than Raw? SD hasn't been good for months. Why is talented CW like Akio going to OVW? Akio is infinitely better than Spike Dudley and would put a little variation in that division. Of course, I'm assuming the writers actually care about the CW division, which is probably a mistake on my part. I'm sure I'll just be one in a long list of many to complain about Orton winning the title. He has been getting better, but he's not good enough to justify a world title run. Besides, we all know that would lead to Orton turning on HHH, giving us the Hunter/Orton feud no one wants to see. HHH would most cerainly get the title back as a face in the near future. Let Benoit hold it for a while longer.
David Blazenwing 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Gotta admit, Orton has come a long way since starting on RAW and the babyface that slapped a kid in the face trying to give out high fives. (How do I remember this stuff? ) I actually wouldn't mind seeing Orton win the belt, only because it would probably mean the eventual (read: by WrestleMania 21) face turn of Triple H. I don't care what anyone says... I started watching WWE in March 2002, the night after WM X8, and Triple H was my favorite wrestler then (he still is now to an extent, but I miss face Triple H.) I'm a big sucker for the faces. I've never been one to stand the heels, except for heel Cena and heel Jericho, just because they were both so damn entertaining, and they both are face now, so I'm loving that even more. Face Jericho rules harder then Triple H in any alignment IMO... though I think Cena actually works better as a heel. At least he cuts better "raps" when he's a heel. EDIT: But no one comes close to my absolute two favorite wrestlers in all of WWE... Edge and the Hurricane. Just wanted to throw that in there.

I can't imagine why Ultimo would want to come back after being in Japan... WWE must be paying him VERY well to warrant his staying with the company despite his burial. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Putting the belt on Orton? That is ... well ... it's not THE dumbest thing I've heard all year but it ranks high. Is Orton over? Yes. Is Orton better in the ring than he was a year ago? Yes. Is Orton world title material? No. That's just poor planning to have someone drop the IC one month ... then turn around and win the belt at the 2nd biggest PPV of the year when he's not even perceived as a world title threat. Btw, when you're posting "spoilers" - don't just put them at the end of the post. If anyone wants to read the thread, they'll have to scroll down just to read the other posts and there's no way to avoid reading the spoilers.

Dude, if they brought back DX with HBK, HHH, X-Pac and Edge... there is NO WAY they could possibly be heels. They would probably get the loudest pops of anyone on RAW just due to the namesake of the gimmick. At least you know there'd be a huge pop whenever "Are you ready?" hit the TitanTron... You'd be pitting them as rivals to a new generation of coolness by letting Orton maintain his arrogance, Batista maintain his pimp daddy monster role, Benjamin being the confident/cocky guy he was when he jumped from SD to Raw and beat HHH, Jericho being what he is now and Flair being the legend guiding what could on paper look like a new generation of Horsemen. Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 I don't particularly care what anyone else thinks, but Orton/Benoit is going to be fucking awesome and has further justified me in buying the show. Whether they put the belt on Orton or not doesn't bother me, I'm just amped for the classic that will no doubt ensue. UYI
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Vince: I turn my back away from Smackdown to focus on Raw, tell the bookers to turn the crowds so off to the show that they go watch something else. Promoter 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 I think this is a report that is being twisted to make it sound juicy. Vince probably is upset raw got a lower rating than SD because he feels raw should be getting higher ratings for how stacked the show is. I also think it has something to do with the wwe trying to score high ratings to convince Viacom of a great deal when the contract expires. That's good because now Vince will not have that stupid ass Diva Serach be the centre of the promotion in commercials like last week. It does nothing to improve the actual show. Get it together Vinman.

JasonX 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Maybe they'll remove Angle, Cena, and Booker to Raw...they screwed up Smackdown's roster when it was the better show before They should just bite the bullet and ship Kurt Angle to Raw and send HHH to SD. With the fact that SD's quality is directly tied into Kurt Angle being an active part of the show, they should bite the bullet and send Angle to the superior show and give SD to HHH as his personal feifdom to run into the ground. Karc 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Oh no ! Smackdown drew better than Raw? Guess that means Eddie will get the title back. I mean, when he's the champion the ratings stink. Even if he was the only bright spot during that whole period, it's still his fault. Give him back the title Vince, before we start deserting Raw. Please. I'm begging you... You know this is not a bad idea. If rumours are true for SummerSlam could you imagine Orton becoming champion and then with his new power gets Triple H and Ric Flair ousted off raw? That way the wwe could have Evolution implode and actually save the Triple H/Orton match by building it between both brands for the next few months. Didn't Angle want to be some kind of Evolution-like member? Put Angle as a replacement in Evolution and hopefully by WM 21 we can get HBK/Angle.

Vyce 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Wow. Well, if JBL hadn't become champion a few short weeks ago, I'd say that putting the belt on Randy Orton would be the dumbest thing they could possibly do with the heavyweight championship. But they did put the belt, on JBL. So putting the belt on Orton is just the second dumbest thing they could possibly do with the heavyweight championship.
