Guest Leon Report post Posted August 18, 2004 Bret Hart is in the new RAW vs. Smackdown game. Could this be a sign of things to come? Granted, Hart can't wrestle, but I can see him becoming a WWE spokesman or at the most, a recurring character on television... Chris Jericho has spoke out against WWE's new dress code at a recent RAW meeting. He said it takes away from the individuality of each wrestler. Moreover, he brought up the point that Steve Austin, who is known to arrive at the arena in a t-shirt and pair of jeans, wouldn't be required and/or forced to wear a dress shirt and slacks to every arena he arrives at. credit: 411 mania
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 Somebody please link me to the thread where they explain this WWE dress code. I'd like to know what all that stupidity is all about, thanks.

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 Many thanks. I was beginning to think that they required suits or the like, but if it's just shirt and slacks then it's not that bad, I guess.
jester 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 I have a hard time believing that this dress code is universally applied even without Austin in the company. You mean to tell me that Undertaker dresses like a salesman when he's not wrestling? Anyway Jericho is right. This takes away from certain characters. Taker. Hurricane. It also takes something away from those who have a gimmick where dressing up DOES make sense, like Flair and HHH. Jericho should be rewarded for saying this about the dress code. However, Holly should still be fired for complaining about the dress code. Yes I know that is hypocritical. I don't care though.
Only The Strong Survive 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2004 My friend was backstage at the recent Smackdown! show taped from the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island and he took a few pictures of some of the wrestlers. It's notable that RVD had on a somewhat formal shirt while John Cena was dressed "in character" in his jersey. He also told me that undertaker was walking around backstage in jeans and a Harley Davidson t-shirt, but he wasn't booked on the show because he had to leave the arena that night for some sort of emergency. If I can find where he put the pictures online, I can edit them into the post later.

Granted, Hart can't wrestle, but I can see him becoming a WWE spokesman or at the most, a recurring character on television... If he comes back, it'll be a one time deal. Although, this will cause me to slap down $4 for a rental of the game now. So I suppose their ploy is working.

Detox 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 I cant wait to for RAW vs Smackdown and Bret Hart being a classic superstar added will solidify this series as the best wrestling series of all time. Also to comment on the dress code isn't it bad enough to have to be cramped on a plane for hours or driving hours to the next show why does it matter if they have on sweat pants or a suit? , I for one think this is ridiculous and i commend Jericho for speaking out. Guest JMA Report post Posted August 19, 2004 I wonder if Bret has considered training wrestlers since his in-ring career is over. Just think how much better the wrestlers in OVW would be if they had someone like Hart training them.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Please please please, Bret should come back for one speech, and leave. Never to return again. Vince will embarrass and humiliate him. For everything he's had to endure, I hope he knows better than to walk into an obvious pit trap.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 and SMackdown 5 had Nikolai Volkoff, and Iron Shiek... and we didn't see any big comeback of those two...
Guest Leon Report post Posted August 19, 2004 I don't even know if Bret can train wrestlers. Wouldn't he have to show the aspiring wrestlers how to do something properly (i.e. the correct way to take a back bump) by actually doing them?
Guest Brian Report post Posted August 19, 2004 He can have someone teach the basic physical aspects, but there's a whole lot of mental he can cover, as well as help direct people. Bret had some nice punches too.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 If Jericho wears the same clothes out of the ring that he tends to in the ring, maybe the dress code isn't so bad. In all seriousness though, if this is causing so many problems with workers then maybe Vince should alter the policy. If they'd introduced it as a 'suggested/preffered dress code' rather than a 'compulsory dress code', it might have had more success. As for Bret...I can't be the only one who couldn't care less about any return, surely?
1234-5678 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 He can have someone teach the basic physical aspects, but there's a whole lot of mental he can cover, as well as help direct people. Bret had some nice punches too. Bret had the same kind of nice punches that Terry Funk had. They look gorgeous, but if you're in the ring with them, you know the truth. They are just blasting you, almost full force.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 We all know Vince is a snake, but if his product is failing as miserably as it seems to be, and I do think he's smart enough to realize this, perhaps bringing Bret Hart back in some sort of form, possibly as a GM or something is the right way to go? Maybe as a tweener GM with vendettas against Shawn Michaels and HHH?
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Honestly, am I the only one who doesn't want Bret to return? I mean, I would love to see them come out with the talked about Bret DVD or book or whatever.....hell, I'd get them the first day of release. But Bret has stuck to his guns when he said he would never go back there again. I would give Bret MORE credit for not coming back than for him to even come back in a Gm, Commissioner, or Manager role.

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2004 Not so much Jericho, but all his fanboys on the net And fangirls too. I agree with Kido. It'd be cool if he did something with the DVD, but I don't know if I want to see him on TV. I guess one last speech in Calgary wouldn't be too bad, but other than that, no thank you.
