GTA: San Andreas

Recommended Posts

I'm at a mission now where you have to help some guy who is having problems with his cell phone battery or something. I can't get past the mission because I drive down to the airport and it says I'm close enough and it shows the red marker, but the red marker is behind a big gate that there's no way to get over. I can't figure out what to do, I ran around for like 10 minutes trying to find any possible ways in and there aren't any. I ended up just loading up my last save and doing other things because I couldnt find a way past.

The mission name is Mike Toreno I believe.

EDIT--Figured it out. I'm an idiot.

Does anyone else miss those taxis outside of hospital that used to take you back to your mission? In the Farewell, my love mission it really annoys me having to go back to the start place.

I miss those, yes, but the Trip Skip is pretty nice, all things considered.

I went into the ammunation and came out and Catalina was standing near the store and she wouldn't move, I had to blow her up so I could start the local liquor store mission all over again with her.

It seems no matter how many cops are killed, you will always remain with a 4 star wanted level at least after the first city in the country. Also I can be inside a tunnel shooting cops outside the tunnel with a 4 star wanted level but no cop cars will come inside the tunnel and the helicopter won't lower so it can shoot me. I hope the AI is improved in the next game.

The game doesn't always give the best advice for instance it said pick up the briefcases of the 3 four wheelers I chased in the local liquor store mission implying to pick them up after you killed each of the people on the four wheelers. If you do this, you will get behind so I just killed all the people on the four wheelers and then went back to pick up the briefcases.

I'm absolutely stuck on 'Farewell, my love'. It's obviously the only one mission that is restricting me from progressing any further, even though I have access to San Fierro and have already checked it out (however, I cannot *do* anything there in terms of missions, even though Woozie has told me to call him anytime I was in the city).

The race is a REAL bitch. It also seems there is only that one car you can use for it too, which I'm not too handy with.

Same here. I'm horrible at all the GTA race missions. And this one especially seems to be a real bitch....

anyone have any tips? or... umm ways to cheat past it?

First tip is to not even try going fast round corners as your car will just go out of control, you should also make sure your car doesn't go on the grass as it slows down your car.The key to winning is not speed but control, the other cars will hit something at least once during the race so make sure you capitalise on their mistakes.

Also, you shouldn't really worry about your position in the race until your near the bridge at the end which is the best place to overtake.

Yeah, If you don't make any mistakes, then you'll probably end up winning, regardless of speed.

Flight school really pisses me off.

Finally passed it after about three hours. The last few bits of it rock, as do the encouragement.

Anbody have any advice on winning at the betting shop? I heard to keep betting on the purple horse, but that isn't always successful.

I managed to get over 30,000 but I carried on gambling until I was at 0 :(

You can get into the airport. Jack a van, park it next to the wall surrounding the airport, then jump onto the wall from the van. This way you can fly around without going to flying school.

I got into the airport this way, but every plane is locked. Is there anything that I can actually get into that I'm missing?

The first and only time I've tried betting on horses, I bet on the green one and won $3000. I've been too cautious to try my luck again. I suppose I could just save beforehand.. but I'm having too much fun stealth killing pedestrians for the heck of it. ;)

So I'm finally in Las Venturas. Is Woozie's casino the only one you can go into, or can you get into the others? And "Fender Ketchup" may be my favorite mission in the whole game.

Umm...in the beginning, yes.

That should explain it.. ;) (Well..actually, I never tried the other before hand, but more open up storywise soon.)

I love them all. :D

I listen to this station more than any of the others when I'm driving around, but that's just me. My favorite is "I Love A Rainy Night". Right up there with the country station is the rock station though. I'll listen to the others depending on what I'm doing in the game.

Robbing Uncle Sam was not as difficult as this thread made it sound, and I'm not that great at these things, although there was a bit of a fluke involved.

It took me 3 tries - once because I took the wrong road and my truck slipped into the ocean along the beach, again because I was ill-prepared for the mission (no guns or armor), and then time #3 was a success... but it shouldn't have been.

My truck flipped over on the way to the garage and I was pressing X, hoping i would somehow get up off my side and not blow up. Had the military guys behind me not been ramming into me so much, I would not have been able to get back up... that same ramming also caused them to blow up and leave me free and clear to drive to the drop point.

Why hasn't there been a mission in the first city to kill Officer Tenpenny and Pulaski?

Since this thread has spoilers in the title, I won't bother with the tags right now. A warning for those reading with caution though:

I fucking hate Catalina, but it's cool how this game ties in with GTA III, as the lead character from GTA 3 turns out to be her 'new man', who we all know is shot in the bank robbery in GTA 3. What a bitch.

None of the missions have been as hard as many have complained about. The dancing mission and that race were two of the easiest missions in the history of the next-gen GTA series, and everything else has been pretty easy so far as well.

I haven't found a single mission that just left me stuck yet. I've had to try a few of them a few times, but after two or three tries I've completed them all pretty quickly.

I'm still at the very start of the second city, but I totally stopped doing missions for now in order just to goof off and to start on some of the mini-games and mini-mission things.

I do have quite a few gripes, but this game is loads better than 3 or VC.

The soundtrack just sucks this time out. The talk radio isn't nearly as interesting as VC's, and repeats too much.

The usual graphical glitches, and popup / clipping are still there.

The lockon sucks. You can be shot at, but lock on to someone running away. It needs improved significantly.

Ditto with the helicopter controls..they just suck. (Especially in one later mission in Venturas..)

The AI shoots too well. You have to build your stats, but they're all expert marksmen..unless it happens to be AI on your side, which tend to be fairly incompitent.

Also, they're too damned touchy. Bump a car, and they come out trying to kill you, or chase and try ramming you. I think there's too high of a frequency of police..there should be some patrolling, but not four or five going by every couple of minutes.

The minimap is pathetic, and the mission goal-markers in the map need to be more easily picked out.

*Personal gripe ahead:*

I get tired of hearing reviews saying how this is "open ended". It isn't. If you have to do missions to unlock everything (buying clothes, going to the gym, modding your car, etc)..it's not open ended. Same with finding a lame ass reason to keep you in the initial area in every game.

I prefer the Fallout / Fallout 2 style of play. Everything's available from the start, it may not be a good idea to go to the end area right away. Same with GTA. Make it so you can go to the other cities, but like it is now..those missions will tend to be more difficult. *shrugs*

I'd also like to see more ways to resolve missions, other than the usual "shoot a few guys, the target runs/drives/flies away and you have to chase and shoot him down" bit that's so damned often in here.

*End personal gripe.*

Now that Rockstar's exclusivity agreement with Sony is up, I'd like to see what they could do with a real Xbox optomized GTA game. The PS2's a nice console and all, but it just can't bring something like GTA to the full potential it has.
