DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 I'm actually finding the first Jizzy mission more difficult the more I play... it seems easy enough, but something always screws me up in the end. The first time, my car flipped over after I blew up the limo. The second time, I missed an alley turn in Chinatown and the preacher got away. The 3rd time I chased him all the way to the country but I hit something, spun out, and ended up falling into the Ocean. It bothers me because it all seems like such a basic mission but I keep failing, and since the 3rd try (actually 4th - the 2nd try I didn't know where I was going when I was going to rescue a hooker and ended up driving into a water hazard on a golf course) was a driving marathon, I didn't feel like trying again. Maybe later. Question: How many more missions until I'm in Los Venturas?

I go back to her house later on but she never shows up. is she really dead? like i can't access her no more? Girlfriends are only available between certain times of the day. You may have gone back outside of those hours. Or it's possible she "broke up" with you. If you ignore a girlfriend for too long, she becomes unavailable. I doubt she's dead, so it's probably 1 of these 2 situations.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Does the girlfriend really provide anything? At this point I am in San Fierro and am not going all the way back to the starting area unless she actually does something useful.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 There are a lot of potential girlfriends, actually. I don't remember what the original one does, but one's a nurse and one's a cop - dating them means that you don't lose money or weapons when you get wasted or busted. Overall they seem pretty extraneous though, unless you're hard-up for 100% completion. I just realized today that you can steal trains and ride them across the entire map in about 2 minutes. It's fantastic.

At this point I am in San Fierro and am not going all the way back to the starting area unless she actually does something useful. Girlfriends are not a necessary part of the game until late in the game, and even then it's not the bitch you have back in Los Santos.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Girlfriends so die, as far as I know. Once I got to 100% with Denise I wanted her to stop bothering me so I stabbed her during a date. I was told that due to the abuse, the date was over, but I continued until I was told "Your Girlfriend is Dead". The car that you're allowed to use for getting to 100% disappeared from her driveway. I want to date the girl who let's you keep your weapons after death. That sounds very convenient.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Anyone know what I did wrong here? I entered an area near the San Fierro airport while motorbiking around on a mission (I was supposed get a vehicle from the airport for Wuzi) when my wanted level went up 5 stars. Figuring I was screwed, I just played around and went towards the large boat where I had entered but a seemingly endless amount of people in blakc suits all ran down the boat's entrance ramp beofre I got there and shot me. Guest SpiderFan Report post Posted January 9, 2005 If you go into an area you haven't unlocked yet, you get a 5 star wanted level that won't go away 'til you get busted or wasted. Happened to me too, when I tried to swim to Las Venturas when I first got the game.

Of course, if you don't care about dying that one time, you can play around in the city to your heart's content when you start up again. It'll put you at the closest hospital, even if it's in an area you're not supposed to be in, in my experience.

I don't think my wanted level went up from me going into another city because I was still in San Fierro doing a mission. I was right near Easter Basin. AnonymousBroccoli 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Also, GTA coming to the PSP. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/01/10/news_6116034.html "However, what got gamers most excited was Rockstar's revelation that it is bringing its überpopular Grand Theft Auto series to the PSP. Rather than being a straight port of a previous installment, the PSP GTA will be a new game set in Liberty City, the backdrop for the revolutionary Grand Theft Auto III." "Rockstar's announcement also revealed that both games (the other being a PSP Midnight Club 3) "are expected to be available near the launch of the PSP handheld system in North America and Europe." According to statements made by Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Ken Kutaragi last week, the US launch of the PSP "will probably be March." Kutaragi also said that Sony "would like to launch in Europe during March as well.""

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2005 The fact that the flight school is mandatory is deeply irritating and probably the worst thing about the game so far. I don't play Grand Theft Auto to play a flight simulator, least of all a really, really shitty one.
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2005 What really annoyed me is that the skill required to pass the school is never really required for any of the missions.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2005 the thing that took me forever on Flight School was the goddamn circling through the coronas and then landing...those two tests took me almost 3 hours to beat...i HATE flying missions on these games, hate hate HATE em! so anyway, I beat the game finally last night...the ending was as anti-climatic as I thought it would be back when I read the spoilers but the final mission was still pretty cool...now I have to go back and do the Rock Quarry missions, the Trucker missions, find a few more hidden items/tags and then work on Zero's missions (guess which one I'm stuck on!)... Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2005 that's just the tip of the iceburg Edwin, have you even tried Toreno's first airfield mission yet? that took another hour and about 80 tries to complete! I knew right away after Flight School the first mission there would be a fuckin flying mission so i skipped it and cleared out all of the available LV missions before going back... Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2005 kind of a funny bit...oh yeah uhmmm spoilers and all that good shit: during the final leg of the game, as the riots rage throughout Los Santos, your girlfriend is still available to take out on dates...even while the city is in flames, folks are killing each other, cops are killing everyone, gangs are running amuck, etc. What was really funny was that after the date she let me come in and tap that ass, meanwhile craziness was happening right outside her house...damn if only they could have made GTA this great before the whole concept got old and tiresome! Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted January 16, 2005 The flying school seems as hard as the supply lines mission did, which I only tried a couple times and didn't pass. Any tips for flying school that haven't been mentioned on this thread?
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 that's just the tip of the iceburg Edwin, have you even tried Toreno's first airfield mission yet? I actually beat it on the first try, I shit you not. After flying school, just the fact that I didn't have to go through all those damned checkpoints made it a breeze. I was really lucky and didn't fill up the "above radar" meter once. For flying school, the only missions I really had any trouble with were "Circle Airfield" and "Circle Airfield and Land." Only use L2 and R2 to steer except for a few quick banks with the analog stick; I never used the stick for more than one second at a time, because that miserable plane flops out of control if you do. The landing is really tricky...as soon as you get through the last checkpoint, cut right and line up with the runway, drop your landing gear, and start tapping on square to slow your speed. After that, it's just a matter of trying not to bounce when you hit the runway. The most important thing is that you finish lined up with the runway; if you veer off to the side, you won't get credit for the landing. The loop-the-loop and "moving targets" mission are a bit of a pain, but I got through them after about 10 tries.
MooreMark 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 Ok, I just got the game a few weeks ago. I haven't really played it too much as I had exams. Right now I just finished 'Uniting the Families'. I used the money cheat during the OG Loc missions because it's a pain to drive there every time. I later found out there are only like 4 missions for him and then your house starts making money for you. Ugh. Does using cheats really effect the game? {''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 People have gotten 100% completion ratings using cheats. Just avoid saving with the peds riot, beach party, or funhouse codes.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 Edwin, have you gotten to this mission yet...uh spoilers...yeah... The mission where Toreno sends you to an aircraft carrier where you have to hijack one of those Harrier jets? It's not really hard, but it's very frustrating as the plane handles like a helicoptor only it seems to handle shittier than a helicoptor...
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2005 Use the left analog stick for a few seconds to control which way the engine jet is pointed. It starts out pointing straight down (helicopter style). When you move it so it's pointed behind you get a lot more speed and mobility.
