Any album by Devil Doll just plainly saddens and knocks me into a scenery of dark cellars and dead warbodies.

On Thorns I Lay is another mellowsaddener, mainly the crystal tears album, specifical songs: My Angel, Eden and Enigma.

Try to think of more later, great topic.

Leonard Cohen's "Chelsea Hotel #2"

The last line fucking kills me every time.

What is the last line, man?

Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt."

Gary Jules' cover of "Mad World," as Harley said.

The entire Darkest Days album by Stabbing Westward is my "depression" album.

The Smashing Pumpkins' "Today."

Fear Factory's "Timelessness."

Acid Bath's "The Bones of Baby Dolls."

Pantera's "Cemetery Gates" and "Hollow."

Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt."

I hear that. When I listen to the NIN original, I don't really feel anything, but Cash's just brings the downtroddenness to a whole new level. His voice, I think, is what makes it so beautifully sad. You can hear all the years of well, life in the track, and at the end of the song, you just know it's the end for Johnny as well.

Dropkick Murphys-The Torch

When you think about it, it's a much sadder theme than someone breaking up or someone dying.

Off the top of my head I would go for -

Billy Bragg - "Rule Nor Reason"

Morrissey - "Lost"

The Wonder Stuff - "Sing The Absurd"

Tori Amos - "Winter"

Beach Boys - "Till I Die"

The Smiths - "I Know It's Over"

and Bret Hart's song off Wrestlemania - The Album ;)

King Crimson-"Trio." It's an instrumental and it's sad. I can't explain it any further than that.

Did someone actually name drop Garth Brooks?

Seriously?

Seriously?

Haha, yes, yes I did. My ex sent me an email after we were broken up and had both moved on, and the jist of it was, listen to "The Dance" and you'll understand, won't be depressed anymore, blah blah blah. Of course it ended up being the most depressing song I have ever heard.
