JoeDirt Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I saw a post on CZWfans that said this show was done in November. Anyone else hear this? (Sorry if someone already posted about it and I'm way late on this.)
Bored Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I can't find the link but it's true. Jim Norton has made references to it on the show the last couple of weeks.
Ted the Poster Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 'Tis true, unfortunately. The show's hardcore fanbase is trying to save the show. Fucking Comedy Central. BLUE COLLAR TV SUCKS! STOP CANCELLING ALL OF YOUR BEST SHOWS, YOU COCKSUCKERS!
Corey_Lazarus Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Blue Collar TV does suck. Fuck, the Blue Collar Comedy Tour sucked. The only thing funny about it was Ron White's story of how he got arrested in New York, and Bill, Jeff, and Ron making fun of Larry. The vignettes between stand-up's were pretty funny too, but the individual stand-up routines SUCKED. I never got why people could find such stupid, unfunny humor hilarious, when George Carlin and Eddie Izzard and Lewis Black are all incredibly smart with their jokes, but not in the Dennis Miller "haha, I said a word you don't understand" manner, and their fans aren't as vocal.
Damaramu Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I enjoy all of the Blue Collar comedians and there individual stand up. Does that make me stupid for liking that and not so called "smart" comedy? Because you seem to be implying that. I also find Jay Leno funny which a lot of people have a problem with to.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Eh...this show wasn't bad at first, but I can't stand to watch it now. I also can't stand that Nicky Dipaulo guy, so him being a regular doesn't help my interest. Fucking Comedy Central. STOP CANCELLING ALL OF YOUR BEST SHOWS What shows are you talking about? Including Tough Crowd, I can only think of 3 "cancelled" shows that could be considered good, but none of them were great.

strummer Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Ron White is great, Larry the Cable Guy is OK, I definitely can stand him. But I have always hated and WILL ALWAYS hate Jeff Foxworthy
geniusMoment Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I am still pissed they cancelled Strangers With Candy. Steven Colbert as a gay teacher=ratings!!!
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I enjoy all of the Blue Collar comedians and there individual stand up. Does that make me stupid for liking that and not so called "smart" comedy? Because you seem to be implying that. Yeah, it does. Hey, you asked...
Ted the Poster Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 What shows are you talking about? Including Tough Crowd, I can only think of 3 "cancelled" shows that could be considered good, but none of them were great. Hey now, I never said great. CC has never had a "great" original show, IMO. They have cancelled Strangers With Candy, Upright Citizen's Brigade, Win Ben Stein's Money(the only good game show the network has ever produced), MST3K(or did they not renew their deal; I can't remember), and they've almost completely paralyzed KITH in late night. At least they had the foresight to abort the shitfest called The Man Show. Also, I find Ron White and Larry The Cable Guy's standup to be funny. Foxworthy and Engvall however can take their tired "men versus women" routines and sodomize each other with a herpes-infected plunger handle.
Guest Staravenger Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 At least they had the foresight to abort the shitfest called The Man Show. Correction: The shitfest called the Man Show with idiot #1 and loser #2, not to be confused with the Jimmy Kimmel/Adam Carola series for those who've never actually seen it.

I'd say Reno 911, South Park, and Chappelle when he's on are all great shows (by on I mean doing great that show). I just thank God that Shorties Watching Shorties got cancelled so fast--it's the only thing that could make Dane Cook unfunny.

Damn it we need Vos on tv shitting on Collin Quin's career.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 MST3K(or did they not renew their deal; I can't remember) They canned this show when the network was trying to become more hip in the mid 90s.
Guest Staravenger Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Speaking of getting rid of things to get hip in the mid 90s, do they STILL air the same 20 episodes of the Critic? I mean, it's not like it was a show that lasted for 100+ episodes, it barely lasted 20 (23 to be exact I think).

I mean, it's not like it was a show that lasted for 100+ episodes, it barely lasted 20 (23 to be exact I think). Actually, yes they do. However, it's got early morning-late night duty now. Cancelled CC shows I liked: Let's Bowl Win Ben Stein's Money Strangers With Candy UCB Beat the Geeks MST3K
Guest Staravenger Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 If Comedy central ever started using In Living Color on the network, I will forever over-look them canceling Win Ben Steins Money and Strangers with Candy. Of course I mean the WBSM with Jimmy Kimmel...Jesus, why does every show he leave end up sucking major ass?
Guest El Satanico Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Ben Stein's Money wasn't the same with the female assistant. Weren't Strangers With Candy and Upright Citizens just reruns on CC. I didn't think either were CC originals. I thought the MST contract was coming up for renewel and CC didn't renew it because they were going in a different direction with the network. Other than MST, South Park and Chapelle's show by themselves blow away any ex-CC show.
JasonX Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Weren't Strangers With Candy and Upright Citizens just reruns on CC. I didn't think either were CC originals. Both were indeed original CC properties and not cancelled shows from other networks.
starvenger Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Ben Stein's Money wasn't the same with the female assistant. That's probably because the pseudo-gay rapport didn't work well with Nancy there. Ben was still Ben though, and I'm always impressed as to how much this guy really knows... Beat the Geeks was also good, although I wasn't ever impressed by the guest Geek.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I'm not too surprised that "Tough Crowd" is done. It started well, but this last season was just not funny at all, with the exceptions of DiPaolo and Norton. I just don't think that Quinn is funny enough and has the presence to host his own show. He's muchbetter as a second fiddle, like on "Remote Control." Best. Game show. EVER.

I like what I like and I just don't understand how that makes you less intelligent b/c somebody else doesn't like it. I could just say that I think George Carlin's comedy is idiotic and you're a moron if you like it and that would have about the same credibility as what was said. People can like what they want without being less than you.

Only in Canada can you have a fun game show with a budget of about $5...
GreatWhiteNope Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Back to topic: http://entertainment.news-leader.com/today...lat-193950.html The program that followed "The Daily Show," "Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn," is being put on hiatus as Comedy Central tries to find ways to extend "The Daily Show"'s ratings "beachhead" later into the night. So it's not cancelled. They'll probably bring it back mid-season.
Mecha Mummy Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 The only two shows Comedy Central cancelled/didn't renew that I was irked about was MST3K and Beat the Geeks. Though they're also part of the reason why there hasn't been a second season of Undergrads...
Ted the Poster Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I thought Undergrads was originally an MTV show. Boy, that makes me miss Clone High, Celebrity Dathmatch and 3-South.
Mecha Mummy Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 I thought Undergrads was originally an MTV show. Boy, that makes me miss Clone High, Celebrity Dathmatch and 3-South. It was, but CC airs reruns late at night. The people who make Undergrads are apparently wanting to do a second season and they contacted CC about it but there, to my knowledge, has been no interest from Comedy Central. Oh, and Deathmatch reruns air on MTV2.
The Amazing Rando Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Yes, Undergrads was originally MTV. I hold a special place in my heart for the RISK episode, and what I think was probably the final one, with the girl messing with Gimpy.
