yeah but ODB is more like the Flava Flav of the bunch, not so much there to rap as he is to be stupid and funny...Ghostface's delivery is just fine, don't get me wrong, but man I have no clue what the FUCK he is ever talking about...

Ghostface is probably my favorite in the Wu no doubt. He is one of the more "slang heavy" rappers out there. So he is rather hard to understand at times.............well, depending on where you live in the country.........

no no no the slang isn't the problem, dude just goes off on weird tangents that have nothing to do with what the other guys talk about in the same songs...

Ghostface just rhymes. he doesn't care about making sense. He's still really really good.

Does anyone know why newer copies of the CD don't have "GZ Up Hoez Down" on it?

This has been a mystery for me for years. I remember buying the CD when it first came out. Then about a year later, my copy snapped in half(stupid friends) and I re-bought the album. This time with no GZ up Hoes Down.............I DEMAND ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eventhough Ghostface say obscure referances and makes up his own slang, he's still decent and a top 3 rapper in the Wu. Atleast, Ghost solo albums are better than Method Man's solo albums and Meth in some people opinons is the best WU rapper. ODB is a novelty rapper and he's funny/entertaining while he was on drugs than sober Dirt McGirt.

Yeah, Rakim may be the best lyricist of all time.

And I really didn't mean to place Jay-Z on the same level as G-Unit and Nelly. But songs hes put out that resemble the type of music G-Unit and Nelly produce pretty much made me do it. I'm still not a fun of Jay-Z at all though.

Oh, and why isn't Mobb Deep getting some love?

That's a damn good question. They should be getting love though. I haven't listened to them regularly in quite some time, but if I catch a video on tv, the volume is always cranked.

I can watch a "diss video" and see guys that can flow and improv a hundred times better then eminem.

please Jaxl, no more comments about Wacko Jacko's weirdness(that we all agree is disgusting btw)when you in fact have a picture of Axl in your sig that looks post-face lift #6.

As far as Eminem goes, history is not set in stone yet about him. He will be remembered surely, but in what capacity who knows. His only CURRENT claim to fame that has been STICKING is the post-marylin manson, king of controversy. That may be unfair to him and whatever talent he posseses, but it is the truth. Once middle-agers started getting into Manson, it was time for the media to pick up the new guy and run with him, and that in fact led into the Eminem craze, which was probably a lot more then his talent and songs deserved. Without the hype, Eminem is simply a creative songwriter, but so what, there are a million of those out there that can't get the time of day on TRL or FM radio.

As far as comparing him to Michael Jackson, well lyrically you can't, I repeat, you CAN'T. You absolutely cannot fault a pop song artist for not making genious songs, when that is not what pop artists do. Hell after his child hood I am sure MJ has some stuff written in hidden journals somewhere that would put Eminem's satirical lyrics about cutting up his mom, to shame. Musically, well Eminem didn't compose the music, as far as I know, and I don't know if MJ either, so I guess that is a wash.

Album sales I can care less about, because advertising has just as much to do with album sales as talent does these days, and even back then, to an extent.

All in all, I think this is a rather stupid comparison. Instead you should be comparing Eminem to other historically revered rappers.

I think it's funny watching you guys talking about rap. It's like watching Michael Moore and Rick Moranis discussing which phat new hip hop joint is the dopest.

Here's what I think:

You can't really compare anyone to Michael Jackson, cept maybe Presley or the Beatles. You have to be on that level to be mentioned in the same breath as him.

Eminem is a serious candidate for most talented and popular at the same time rapper ever. Jay Z might be comparable in a way, but he never had near the negative press.

Gza and Raekwon are better than Ghostface. I'd consider Deck and Masta Killa to be better than him as well, but it's debatable.

Chronic was better than Doggystyle.

Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Kool Keith, and Shock G are my favorite rap vocalists. You can probably discern the style I like based on that. Still, I'd say the three of them are better than Eminem.

Order of Wu-Tang talent level:

1. Method Man-sorry, but he is the best of the group

2. Inspectah Deck-CREAM was my first taste of Wu-Tang and this dude brought it on that song as he does on every Wu song he's on

3. Raekwon-same as Deck

4. GZA-not high on his voice, but his flows are nice

5. Masta Killa-eh 50/50 on him, his deliveries are kinda him-hawish

6. RZA-would be better if his voice wasn't so annoying

7. U-God-this guy doesn't seem to rap much does he?

8. ODB-sucks as a rapper but dude is funnier than shit, his first solo CD is CLASSIC!

9. Ghostface Killa-I listened to some Wu-Tang over the weekend, I just totally lose the song when he takes over, I don't know what the hell it is...

Am I missing anyone? This is all, of course, strictly opinion...

RZA's the worst by far in my book, but that's okay since he's principally served as the beatmaker. GZA and Raekwon for me, Ghostface and Deck right after. Method Man is right in the middle.

It's sad to see where this thread went to. Comparing Em and MJ is just dumb. They are different musical animals. If you want to lump them as pop music, then it's no contest. MJ wins. However, Em is talented, but also abrasive.

The thread was about Steve Harvey's comments, which look to me like someone is overreacting. Harvey needs to chill, it's not like he hasn't offended anyone in his act or with his godawful TV show.

Geez, the people in this thread are morons.

Alright I feel like adding a few things to this, mainly cause I'm bored, but what the fuck, why not?

I haven't listened to much rap for awhile because mainly its all the same shit over and over again on the raido. Going to the club, drinking/getting crunk (God I hate that saying), and etc...etc.. That and I can't stand some of the stupid shit that comes out of rap songs, like the word "Thur" espically when its repeated over and over again. Honestly who the fuck thinks up those stupid ass words? Like the artist got lazy or something and instead of saying "over there" he decided to say "over thur" ITS FUCKING STUPID!. Anyways, I only listen to a certain artists because unlike those piece of shit songs, they rap about other things, like their way of life (and no partying is not a way of life), depressed cause there girl is gone, or some random acts of violence (gotta like that stuff). Some of the people I can listen to today is D12, Eminem, Xizbit, Naz, and Kayne West. Reason being THEY CAN RAP ABOUT OTHER THINGS AND MOST OF THE TIME ISN'T GOING OUT TO THE FUCKING CLUB AND WEARING BLING! Thats another thing I hate, Gold and Pt. teeth, seriously thats just fucking stupid, espically when you see the jokes walking around your own town wearing them.

Now I'll touch apon the Em vs MJ debate we got going here. We can't really decide who the better artist is because their music isn't the same. Jackson has never been on a rap station I'm sure of it, and if he has, that station was smoking something very weird, and I'm sure EM hasn't been on a station that Jackson has been on before.....What kind of raido station would Jackson be on anyways? Anyways I'll agree with Jaxal through, Emenim just doesn't realise pop songs and tries to act all hardcore and shit. Most of his songs are about his way of life and stuff like that, the controversy just followed him because he was this white rapper who wasn't like Vanilla Ice. The pop songs just attracts the radio into playing his music. Oh and the Stan song is a pretty good song and if you think it isn't because he's just re-using a track for it, you don't have a very good taste in music. Espically since the track was brought to Eminem and espically since Dido let him use her track.

Oh and one final thing here, Steve Harvey needs to get his overlysized lips outta Jackson's ass first because South Park just did those same jokes Eminem did a few months ago and I didn't hear anyone bitching about those.

Actually, Scream, Butterflies, and a few other MJ songs got play on my local Hip Hop/R&B station. I know Em gets some play to. I'm not sure how it is in other cities though.

I've really got no comment on this Mike/Em situation otherwise.

October 19, 2004 --

MICHAEL Jackson has finally found some supporters in fellow Eminem-haters David Mays and Ray Benzino. Jackson reached out to the Source magazine owners after Eminem made fun of him in his "Just Lose It" video. The trio is said to be planning a press conference on Thursday to "urge the hip-hop community to stand by [Jackson]," a rep for the Source said. Jackson is also expected to "speak about Eminem's video which he will deem racist and dangerous to the black community and thank the Source for calling out Eminem," the rep added. The Source is also putting Jackson on the cover of its next issue.

Yea, MJ gets spins on Hip Hop/R&B stations. (Major Radio Stations) I knew Benzino would come out and defend MJ and then put him on the Magazine that supposed to be strictly Hip Hop, just shows how Benzino is desperate for attention.

Personally, I'll never forgive Jacko for buying the Beatles catalog and pimping it out. That being said, some of his songs are really fucking good, but his level of musical talent starts and stops with his voice, and there are much better singers in the world.

As for Eminem, I used to like him, but that was when I was a teen. I can't tell if I'm growing out of it, or he's getting worse. Probably both. Hell, I even liked his pop stuff, but this new song sucks. I mean, what is he doing making a "get on the dance floor" type song and laughing like Pee Wee Herman (annoying!). Plus the only remotely contraversial thing in it is the stab at MJ, and as it's already been mentioned, EVERYONE'S done that. Which is why Steve Harvey and the Source guys are idiots. So is Micheal. I mean, how can he not be a moron? Whether the allegations are true or not, he's not helping himself at all.

No other rappers ever seem to spring to Em's defence. Where are Dre, Snoop, whoever else he's mates with when all this shit goes down?? People come from all corners to jump on Em for whatever reason it is this time but he always seems to play a lone bat in return.

geniusmoment is all over it. It's the images of MJ messing with kids in the video. There is nothing racist about it and MJ isn't the subject in the song.

Benzino is a big bitch who's still upset that he hasn't gotten near the noteriety he thought he'd get from feuding with Em a year and a half ago. Doesn't surprise me in the least that he'd step up to take a shot at Em. I'm banking Ja Rule and The Inc. will be next on the "leave Michael alone" bandwagon.

You know the irony of it with Benzino and MJ is, that when Benzino released Em's racist tapes and the MJ story broke out in the same week which overshadowed Benzino claim of Em being a racist, which Benzino got upset that the MJ stuff killed his press on Em, Benzino is now backing MJ.

Well, I haven't visited this thread since it was started and I have a few things to add. First off, weather you like Eminem or hate him you should probably realize that Benzino is by far one of the worst people in hip hop. He's tries to manipulate people through his magazine calling people racists(when they are not) and basically going on a crusade against Em for sometime now. He's basically been full of shit since day one. This whole story is exactly why Em puts out these shitfests called singles.............everyone talks about them.

As far as the Wu situation goes, I seriously can't believe who you people think of as the best. It also depends on how your judging it. As far as album quality goes...........Ghost destroys them all. Lyrically, GZA would probably destroy everyone of them. Method Man, is the most mainstream of them and the rest are kinda stuck in the middle. Masta Killa and U-God showed promise, but their albums are fucking W-A-C-K. Also, Raekwon is decent..........but him and Ghost are extremely similar. RZA has usually been better on the production side that spitting Kool Keith esq rhymes that couldn't match Keith if he tried(nobody can touch Kool Keith as far as his own style goes). Deck is solid at best and his albums are definately sub-par. ODB is fucking awful and can still make a better album than MK or U-God. So what does that tell you?

hey, it's all a matter of opinion...me, whenever i hear a good Wu-Tang song, it heads downhill the minute Ghost starts...

I actually like Ghost...........but I'll definately admit..........he's an acquired taste.
