So I've just discovered this show within the last 6 weeks, and i do find it hilarious, but it seems almost fake to me, with Bam destroying family heirlooms, Vito's truck, his parents house, etc etc. It seems too contrived or something to be true.

So are my suspections correct or what? Have i gotten myself suckered by another Dick Diedrich/Phil Hendrie deal?

Compton Ass Terry > Bam Margera.

Compton Ass Terry > Bam Margera.

"I took a wrong turn on the Hwy and found this guy!"

I think the "what is fake, what is real?" aspect makes the show more enjoyable, personally.

That's why his parents never really get mad at him. He can always replace what he breaks. I don't think they know about what he's going to do, and that each show just has a basic outline before filming. The pranks they pull on Yohn can't be planned though. Who would let someone put crabs in their underwear?

No, it's 2 different people.

Also, I heard Terry is actually one of Bam's friend's, and a pro skater.

From what I've heard, the posters in this thread are correct - his parents don't generally know what he's going to do, so their reactions are "real", BUT they're not angry at him because he pretty much pays for all of shit he destroys. So it's like....why should they get angry if he, for example, totals their car in a stunt, when he'll just replace it with a new one at his own expense?

Bam is somebody I'd like to just smack around if I ever met him on a personal setting. He comes off as a completely spoiled rich kid that's never had to work hard a day in his life, and although the things that he and his friends did on Jackass and the CKY tapes were amusing, they weren't OVER-THE-TOP and usually didn't cost a whole lot of money. It's painfully obvious that MTV plans everything out with Bam.

Fuck Bam Margera.

Coincidently, Phil and Vito were wrestling tonight...

Hilarity ensued.

I personally am just annoyed by how driven the show is to constantly remind you of how gosh darn cool that wacky Bam is.

But I do enjoy the comedic stylings of one Don Vito.

He's got the dream job. He breaks and blows shit up, and acts like an asshole for a living. And on top of that, he gets paid a shitload of money to do it. Not to mention he hangs out with the world's greatest man, Brandon DiCamillo.

I envy the man.

He comes off as a completely spoiled rich kid that's never had to work hard a day in his life,

Well, you’ve seen their old house, which is painfully middle-class; it’s now Vito’s bachelor pad. I don’t think Bam qualifies as a “spoiled rich kid”, but to lump him together with his friends, a “dirty middle-class skater”.

and although the things that he and his friends did on Jackass and the CKY tapes were amusing, they weren't OVER-THE-TOP

It didn’t have to be “over the top” – it was insanely creative stuff, which teenagers and college students flocked to. I mean, just a few hours ago, my two roommates attempted to stuff me into a dryer at a Laundromat to incite a reaction out of the bystanders around us. That’s the contribution of CKY and the Big Brother crew – the idea of offending or catching people off-guard with random events or situations. Is the original content of CKY and Jackass dated now? Yes, but it’s great to look back at the “Self-Defense Test” and wonder why Johnny Knoxville agreed to subject himself to a tazer, stun-gun and pepper spray.

..and even then, the gross stuff from the CKY and Big Brother tapes were cut out of the MTV episodes to suit Viacom. Have you seen CKY2K and the prank with Dicamillo rubbing shit on Dunn’s face? OF COURSE it’s horrible in taste, but it was absolutely hilarious to imagine people like this subjecting friends and innocent bystanders to these pranks.

and usually didn't cost a whole lot of money.

That’s because it was just a few contributors to a skating magazine putting together skits for their skating tapes. It ignited a cult following that led to a prominent timeslot on MTV and a feature motion picture.

It's painfully obvious that MTV plans everything out with Bam.

They film EVERYTHING the family does, chooses any eventful situation, then edit it beyond all recourse to create an interesting show.

That is the proper diagram with any reality show.

My favorite Rake Yohn moment is when Bam covers him in Mustard in one of the features on the Jackass DVD. Rake Yohn tells the camera he's petrified of mustard, so when it gets on him, he flips out and kick the shit out of the back door of Bam's Audi.

i just keep telling myself it isnt. many times while watching programs like big brother i have had my suspicions but i just try to block that out of my mind

The episode of Viva La Bam where Bam's parents double crossed Bam and left Bam and the gang on the island ruled. And whoever it was that paddled his ass back to civilization on a log, was crazy. I still question to this day whether that was real, or if the camera crew just shot footage until he turned the corner, and then yelled cut, got him out of the water, and the sent the guy back with the plane.

Finally, somebody who has the same opinion about Bam Margera as I do.

The guy really does come across as an asshole. If were his Dad I knock the shit out of him and have nothing to do with the little cretin.

Like Corey said, Fuck Bam Margera.
