Damaramu 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 I need to tell my kids where I was when the Sox won there first World Series in 86 years. The real question though is.....do they keep it up? Or do they go on a drought?
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 This is what it's like to be a fan of the World Champion? I like it. Enjoy it; you've earned it. I've been a bit spoiled in that regard (10 championships in 17 years), but there's no feeling quite like it. I still remember everything about the Braves winning the World Series in 95. I'm so happy for Red Sox fans right now- I just can't believe what happened.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 Barron what do you do during these first innings that you don't watch? Sacrifice something for good luck?
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 I just use the computer and get updates on IM. Then when the first is over- I turn on the TV and start watching. The Cards and Sox had 11 consecutive World Series that went 7 games. Not anymore.

Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 Wow. Sweeping the Angels. Beating the Yankees AND winning the World Series in a sweep? I can't even process this yet.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 This is just amazing. The funny thing is that every time it looked like the Sox had done something to perhaps screw up (like leaving the bases loaded or commit 4 errors) for some reason it never hurt them. It's like they had all the breaks for once in history. Come on, in that 9th inning didn't anyone else here think the Cards would load the bases and get a grand slam to win? I'm not really a big Sox fan, in fact if it was any other time I'd much prefer the Cardinals to win. But man, these guys have paid some dues. I guess my rationale is that the Cards will likely pick up a starter in the off season and likely be contending for years to come...the Sox hadn't won in 86 years. I don't care who the MVP of this series was, this was Schilling's postseason of immortality. I don't care what his career stats end up being, he's gotta be in Cooperstown after this. strummer 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 the last time the Sox won the series, sliced bread had not been invented yet!!(not till 1928!)
the max 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 I bet they retire Schilling's number after this postseason. He'll be a fucking god in Boston forever as well.

geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 This is unbelievable. What a way to make a statement, winning 8 straight. I just wonder what this means to Boston. Do they become a normal franchise now? How will people remember Babe Ruth and the curse now? What will the next Yankee-Red Sox series be like?
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 Just imagine what A-Rod must be feeling like now.
strummer 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 Yeah, what will the Sox/Yanks series be like now?, it will definitely have a different feel
the max 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 Just imagine what A-Rod must be feeling like now. He's probably trying to think of a way to cheat his way on base playing PS2.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 I need to tell my kids where I was when the Sox won there first World Series in 86 years. The real question though is.....do they keep it up? Or do they go on a drought? No, the real question will be how you got kids. Just imagine what A-Rod must be feeling like now. Rich, I'd imagine.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 He was rich in Texas though. He wanted to win.
the max 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 He was rich in Texas though. He wanted to win. Tough cookies. On the other side, this basically proves the Ewing Theory. Nomar gets traded and they win the World Series.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 He was rich in Texas though. He wanted to win. As long as he's with the Yankees (regardless of what we like to say), he'll have a great shot at winning. Enough about A-Rod, what about Nomar? This poor SOB's exit from the city is going to be viewed as the turning point for the first World Champion Red Sox team in 86 years. Rightfully so, since the team was a lot more carefree once he was gone, but the little changes they made along with the Nomar trade should be noted, too. Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 Nomar gets traded and they win the World Series. But hey, he does get $200k out of this I think Boston should get him back just out of spite
the max 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 Nomar gets traded and they win the World Series. But hey, he does get $200k out of this I think Boston should get him back just out of spite Only if they trade him at the deadline again. I don't think he'll ever be welcomed back into town now. They've embraced Cabrera.
Chuck Woolery 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 After repeating it so damn much, I firmly believe that it was Muggy that got the Sox this world series. I'd also like to express gratitude to Lowe, Pedro and Fat Curt, who pitched like the excellent rotation they were advertised as. Foulke, for closing all four games. Manny, Damon... This was just incredible, man. It would mean so much more if I'd been watching longer, but even right now... it's so awesome.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2004 A-Rod and Nomar have got to be flipping out. Course I don't think they would've won it if they'd kept Nomar in that lineup. But it's over.....I'm still excited. I gotta be up at 7 tomorrow to go sit in on a high school class and I'm to wired to go to bed. Somewhere the Dropkick Murphys are getting shitfaced.
