WWE Release Gail Kim, Nidia, and Chuck Palumbo

Tyson Tomko, Maven, Mark Henry, Dawn Marie, Torrie Wilson, Stacy Kiebler, The Coach, Eric Bischoff, Theodore Long, Ric Flair, Gene Snitsky, Jon Heidenreich, Hardcore Holly, Doug & Danny Basham, Spike Dudley, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak, Sylvan Grenier, Akio, Kenzo, Hiroko, Bill DeMott, Jerry Lawler, Molly Holly, Chris Nowinski, Garrison Cade, Rosey, Christy Hemme, Ivory, Jazz, Todd Grisham, Steven Richards, Val Venis, Victoria, Funaki, Johnny Stamboli, Shannon Moore, Scotty 2 Hotty, Rico, & Miss Jackie.

That should about cover it. Then get rid of the Women's division, one of the tag team division and the brand split. Kill the "B" shows as well.

I counted and this would leave the roster with exactly 50 people on it and nearly no jobbers. 50 workers used for two 2 hour shows is not a good idea (unless it's EWR). They can barely do anything with the 40+ (Raw has around 44 and Smackdown has around 43) they have on each side of roster split and they only have to fill 3 hours a week. Everyone not a Main Eventer now wouldn't even have hope with Trips, Angle, and Taker all together with their political power.

That's why they need to hire better writers with some of the money they'll get from the firings. Get some people who COULD write two hours with those people.

Common sense.

Val Venis is probably soon to go as well, which sucks because he's consistently been a good worker since 1998.

They could get by with 25 people since Raw has maybe 6 matches a week. Why have jobbers when squash matches are boring and/or mean nothing. Filling out the 2 hour show is easy to fill since it is basically:

30 minutes of Evolution talking

15 minutes of highlights or shrilling projects outside of wrestling

30 minutes of commercials

15 minutes of soft porn featuring Stacy or Diva Search girls

and the rest is wrestling

Please tell me you don't watch Raw for GAIL KIM. Please say it's not so, Please!

yes I did. All I can say--and I just did in a rather blunt letter to the WWE--is fuck the WWE.

Gail was not the only reason I watched Raw but damnit if they can spend all that money on Diva Search they should be able to afford a diva who can actually wrestle. I realize that wrestling is not very important to the WWE but if they want me to watch the show they are going to have to do better than Diva search.

I'm just not going to watch the damn show anymore. I will be just as entertained watching Monday night football. I rarely watch Smackdown so that will be no big loss. PPV? Forget it.

Of course, they can't cut all the jobbers...

Better workrate = Better ratings

Bullshit. The workrate was through the roof at the beginning of the year and it meant nothing.

There is only so much that can be done with Randy Orton tag team main events.

Unless the roof was about a foot off the ground, nothing broke through it. 1 or 2 10 minute matches a week do not equal quality wrestling.

Exactly WHY should Jimmy Yang be fired? Because WWE refuses to push him? And Mark Henry will NOT be fired... his contract is worth too much to have him sit on his ass, and he obviously won't quit because of stupid characters.

We had good workrate at the beginning of the year but it was met with the same glass ceiling. HBK and HHH going over Benoit, etc. I agree with streamlining the roster. Give the dead weight and under utilized people to TNA, see if that company can spark their careers for three years or so and then maybe some of the younger talent like say... Spanky, Chuck Palumbo, A-Train or Sean O'Haire, will have a place in WWE if they get over elsewhere. Guys like Billy Gunn, Val Venis, Bob Holly, Test, etc. were never going to get over again in WWE with this creative team. I'm liking this because what the company is pretty much doing is giving talent to build a potential competitor. And I want competition.

Streamline the rosters, end the brand split but have certain talent work certain shows each week and then mix it up when that runs it's course. This is the first time I've ever said "end the brand split" but I'd like to see the roster cut down to like 40 or 50 workers. If they need jobbers, they can use guys from local indie feds like TNA does with Impact, you don't have to pay a jobber $75K to $200K a year full-time on your roster.

That is 6 in 3 days.

Any idea how much Gail Kim, Nidia and chuck palumbo were making?.

It was said that A-train, gunn & test were making $200,000.

It shows you how bad things are for the wwe.

You gotta wonder who will be next.

They've had plenty of opportunity to get over. 86 em' and let others have an opportunity...

Yeah, *ALL* those chances Chuck had to get over

-Billy & Chuck - they were actually decently over.

-FBI - they got a couple pushes, but only to build them up for Taker to knock them down (*three* times!)

And that's about it. Palumbo could have been a perfectly good tag partner for a guy like Stevie or Val. He's a decent enough big guy, certainly loads better than Tomko. Hell, make Chuck the muscle for Christian.

And Gail Kim I don't get at all.

...he then continued to keep the women's division alive, instead of doing something like, oh, trading them to SD, perhaps for the fluffers there.

Finally the wwe is doing something right. Here is the rundown:

A-Train--Never connected with fans, even though he was a decent big man worker. Had many chances, but was missing charisma and promo ability.

Test--A classic muscle head, early on thought to be another Kevin Nash. He picked up the Nash workrate, but did not have the mic skills, charisma or quick wit that made Nash seem cool.

Billy Gunn--Another wrestler pushed for his look, but did not have the charisma or mic skills that his partner, Road Dogg had. It is obvious Roadie carried the team, and despite that Gunn was given the mega-push, including a King of the Ring win and a Summerslam match against the Rock. Despite being athletically gifted he never figured out how to work a great wrestling match.

Gail Kim--Pushed as the female Rey Mysterio Jr., turned out to be a horrid wrestler who blew all the highspots they signed her for, they did not trust her with anyone due to health reasons and made her a "submission" specialist. She added nothing in terms of personality, and never drew a dime. What they brought her in for she lacked, and now she is gone.

Nidia--Won tough enough and was therefore guaranteed a spot for a period of time. Never was an adequate worker, even for a woman, and was not pretty enough, at least in the eyes of WWE as I am not trying to insult someones taste, therefore she had no role.

Chuck Palumbo--Classic Natural Born Thrillers big man with no personality or anything that seperated him from an average joe. Not good on the mic or in the ring.

All of the above are not going to be missed at all. Good job WWE, continue getting rid of the trash and I will watch again.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not Chuck! WHY?!! Motherfuckers!

Everybody else (but A-Train) I've happy they're gone, all I need to hear is Holly being released and I can rest peacefully for a very long time.

A-Train really doesn't deserve to be out of a job. Maybe he does for his (lack of) wrestling skills, but he helps mentally handicapped kids and he's just a good guy in general. I hope he gets another high-paying job soon.

The man speaks the truth, A-Train had no problem stopping to take a picture with me back in January. Yeah, it was weird with A-Train of all people.

I can see why these people were released. I couldn't believe A-Train was making $200,000 a year! He's a decent talent, but none of these guys are needed by the WWE.

Chuck Palumbo has never done anything for me, so I don't really care about him being around or not. Besides, he disrespected Undertaker AND Droz.

That was Sean O'Haire that disrespected Undertaker. And as for the Droz thing I think it was just the WWF midcarders making a big deal out of nothing so that the new WCW guys would get buried.

While I'd hate to admit it, the 6 released weren't doing much anyway. It's all about good business, I suppose. Ruthless firings - ignoring worker morale - and stuff...

Well, at least Gail will now have time to answer my emails. :P

Oh, How sad to see these three irrelevant names go.

So who's next?

Val Venis? Hardly being used and is injury prone and will never be able to get past that whole porno star gimmick stigma. He's a goner sooner or later.

Holly? Gunn was another long time loyalists but his attitude got him canned. Holly has a more known attitude. He's gone soon. But he seems to avoid these fire sales every year so who knows.

You forgot to add that his sister is Edge's ex-wife.

That shouldn't be anything signifcant here unless Val takes a stand against Edge or if Edge did something to his sister that would Cause locker room turmoil.

I'm almost certain this isn't the first time wwe workers were related by marriage and have it end in divorce.

WTF is up with firing Gail Kim?!?!? Bah!

That's it, she's getting a push in my EWR diary.

And Nidia? Bah, who cares. She stopped being entertaining once she was broken away from Jamie Noble.

And Chuck Palumbo? I thought they were going to actually push him, based on him taking Benoit to the limit on Sunday Night Heat! I should give him a push too.

The brand extention was a failure from the start. WWE bragged that they had the deepest talent pool in history, and that new stars would be pushed. That hasn't happened, so naturally the people who weren't given a chance are cut first. Besides Billy Gunn, everyone else was relatively new. Personally, I hope the firing continues, because the WWE needs to stop kidding itself that just adding people without logic (Diva Search, Tough Enough, half of the OVW callups) is good for the business when in fact it's killing it. I'd also start taking away some of those top spots, as well, which won't happen and the ratings and buyrates will continue to drop with it.

That said, I can't blame Albert, Chuck Palumbo, or Gail Kim for the ratings drops when they were barely on TV, though. We never did see that Gail Kim title shot when she was making Victoria tap every week. The women's division is deader than dead, and that's the fault of the front office. The matchups were there. Molly could have been a face again, and the wrestling would have been tolerable. Whatever to WWE, I say.

Guest Banders Kennany

Well, WWE has done a load this time

NIDIA & KIM: They helped shoring up the women's division quite nicely. Now they're down to six in the division, and that's counting Stacy. Hardly a division, if anything. Nida was bad but improving, and her Northern lights were something to write home about. She also recently got a hair makeover which suited her nicely, making her look bone-able. She seemed very much so sexier in her movements and I was starting to become a little bit of a fan of hers, plus with that sexy Puerto Rican bod. Kim was flat in the ring but improving more than Nidia, but had this flat ass and acne problems. Still very hot, and very effective in submission speciality they had her doing. The woman's division could not afford to lose these women.

A-TRAIN: Well well, what do we have to say for this big galoot. He was always trying in the ring no matter how bad he was forced to job. I respect him for that. He apparently is a good charity worker and a favorite of Make a Wish kids so I'm sorry to see this power wrestler go. Good matches with Benoit.

BILLY GUNN: Good riddance to this slug who leeched off the fame of his tenure.

TEST: Good riddance. A cocky bastard backstage who couldn't take the heat when it came to getting fired. But I thought the WWE doesn't fire injured wrestlers? Oh well, guess that policy's out the window bnow.

CHUCK PALUMBO: The best right hand in the business. Great match with Benoit and his Custom Chuckie P still has a lot of untapped potential if they change their minds and give him maybe a provisional deal. I can't believe he was actually fired.

No it was Palumbo too. But I do agree Droz was a key role in burying young WCW talents.

Maven's job has been saved due to Shawn michaels injury. If shawn did not get injured, maven would have been released.

If Maven was in place to get the spot if Michaels was injured, to be an alternate on that level must mean they think something of him. He's got skill, got talent. They have plenty in the cards for Maven let me tell you.

I never understood why WWE didn't push the hell out of Maven. Not that he is this amazing super-athelete or anything, but he is THEIR creation. He is 100% Vince-McMahon-made. When he won the first tough enough, I figured he'd be given a push much like the one Randy recieved this year.

Coffey and Razateca have given this thread the only intelligent posts...

Who cares about these people? who cares about Val Venis or Stevie Richards? who fucking cares? All these people were given chances to shine, despite whatever gimmick they were given...the true talents can take shit and turn it into gold...sure some of YOU may care, but the chorus of crickets in the background whenever these indivuduals are performing is a sure signal that this fat needed to be trimmed (though i WILL miss seeing Nidia's titties almost fall out of her top during her matches)....the brand extension has to go, plain and simple, and this is a great way to start...
